This document discusses two types of value that advertising can provide: constant optimization and periodic disruption. It argues that while optimization is important, focusing only on what is right may lead to unconscious orthodoxy. It is better to also pursue what is interesting, even if not always right, as this leads to turbulent, creative thinking instead of laminar flow. The document questions what type of value planners want to be famous for and encourages thinking beyond just optimization.
