The Strengths And Weaknesses Of Alexander The Great
Many people are good or bad leaders. Alexander the great was one of the good leaders. He and
his army fought lots of wars that made events occur. Alexander s life was remarkable and
admirable for all the wars he won. Alexander had lots of enemies that tried to kill him. Alexander
made many decisions, but some of them were mistakes. Alexander led multiple wars to victory
and conquered lots of places which lead him to being a good leader because of it. Alexander
must have been a very brave man for going to war a lot. Alexander s troops was thought to be
unbeatable. In 333 the troops of Alexander and Darius went to battle because Darius lost in a
battle a year before with Alexander, and Darius wanted to win. Alexanders army was
outnumbered. Even though Alexander s army was outnumbered, he used his flair for military
strategy to create formations that defeated Persians and caused Darius to flee. Alexander
declared himself the king of Persia after capturing Darius and holding him a fugitive. (LLC,
2015) As you can see, Alexander had a strong army. He also became leaders of lots of empires.
Alexander created a city, it was the the city of Alexandria. Later on he became the king of
Alexandria, king of Asia , and king of the four quarters of the world. Alexander s next conquest was

One of the wars Alexander won was amazing because he was put in front of 200 elephants and he
won, let me tell you the story. In 326 B.C. Alexander s and Porus s army met at the Hydaspes
river. At night Alexander managed to bring his troops across to the opposite bank. When Porus s
mobilized forces he found himself in a predicament. Porus s cavalry was not nearly as
experienced as Alexander s, so Porus put his 200 elephants in front. Porus s horses, foot soldiers
and elephants became jumbled up together. Alexander s army attacked and killed them. (Owen
Jarus, 2013) As you can seen alexander fought some crazy

Theme Of Indian Camp By Ernest Hemingway
Lions, Suicide, and War; Oh My! What do a lion, a suicide, and a war have in common?
Connected or not, these three factors can influence the character s behavior whether it be in or
out of a figurative sense. These three components are also very symbolic in Ernest Hemingway s
writing, more specifically in his short stories Indian Camp , The Short Happy Life of Francis
Macomber , as well as the interchapters from In Our Time. Ernest Hemingway s portrayal of
conflict creates a violent normality in some of his stories. This is shown by the character s response
to suicide, hunting, and war.
In Indian Camp , the character Nick is a child following his father and his uncle to an Indian camp,
with good intentions, to help a woman give birth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He could be referring to the wife s screaming during the birth, his pain from his accident, or some
other unmentioned reason. The doctor s initial reaction to the harsh news was to shield his son
from death and viewing something that could make him grow in a different direction, even
though neither were prepared for what they saw. The doctor made the body clearly visible to his
son with the light. The light could symbolize Nick s veil of innocence to be removed from his life
because he had just witnessed the birth of another human being, yet also the death of another. This
removal of his veil was very abrupt and no one intended for it to happen at that moment. The death
of the Indian husband came as a shock to the characters and even though it was unintended, it still
played a major part in the tone of the birth of the Indian baby.
Francis Macomber is a man of great wealth as well as a beautifully unfaithful wife, on a hunting
expedition in Africa. On this trip, he and his partner, Wilson, are on the hunt for many different
kinds of game, such as buffalo and lion. The lion in this story causes Francis to become panicked
and doubtful as he nears the time to shoot his cat, he does everything in his power to avoid
chasing after it. However, Francis does manage to overcome his fear after shooting it twice. During
his frenzy, the lion becomes the center of attention feeling, [T]he little openings the solid bullets

Wearing A Seat Belt Is Worth It
Now people may tell themselves that they know they should wear a seatbelt, but is it really
worth it? The answer is yes, it is worth it. Your life is worth it, and putting yourself at risk makes
you a careless person. In 2012, 7,500 teens and young adults between the ages of 16 24 were killed
in a car crash. 60% were not wearing a seatbelt out of 34,080. Every 16 minutes, someone dies in an
accident and about 89 people lose their lives each day. Wearing a seatbelt slows your body down
and decreases how far your body goes before it stops and wearing a seatbelt prevents you from
flying out of the car and decreases the chance of damaging your body. People think that since
they are only going a short distance, they don t need a seatbelt because it s not like they re going
to get into an accident for the three blocks they re traveling to. They re wrong about that. Studies
show that 50% of fatal accidents happen near their home or workplace. As a car is going 55 MPH
and it hits a solid object, the rest of the car is still going 55 MPH even when a car frame has
stopped. While the rear end is going 35 MPH, your body is still traveling at 55 MPH. Seatbelts
saved around 13,941 lives in 2015 and it could ve saved 2,814 more people if they were wearing
a seatbelt. In this world, people take seatbelts for granted. It s the one thing that can save your life
in a car crash and it is also the one thing that people abuse. Not wearing a seatbelt can lead you into
being thrown at an opening

Essay On Latino Literacy
Introduction
Literacy: a simple word that rolls of your tongue, but it cannot be contained by one definition. It is
traditionally the ability to read and write with the ability of language, numbers, and technology. The
world may be constantly changing for the better or for worse, but society should be, especially,
when it comes down to teaching literacy to students. About a majority of the generation in schools
contain Latino and Latina students, who are natives or inhabitants of Latin America. Therefore,
how come Latino and Latina Literacy is repressed and in need of schooling? How can society itself
change to help Latins? Discourses are a major part in how Latino andLatina literacy can be
improved to teach Latin students as well as including Latino literature in school curriculum and

(Gee, pg. 18) In other words, the identity kit of a Latino and Latina student is to allow their
culture show in their role as a student, but it is in need of attention regarding the failure education
has provided. Latinos have been failed by the school systems and their poor retention rates prove
that their framework is a deficit model. Latinos need to have an education system that integrates an
education that will not disregard their background, family, gender, age, language, and culture. If
possible, this will allow them to have a positive impact in student s grades and most importantly, in
themselves. As well as when trying to find new ways that will influence the benefits of a Latino s
work in education, writing should be a great way to begin when it comes to Latino s. Especially
because this is a critical matter in where having the mindset of English being the academic
discourse to read and write; it has become an obstacle for Latino s, since they have to be asked to

The Importance Of Idiolect
History is the cycle that repeats itself. Most people neglect to add in, how history adds changes
to itself. Words are often repeated;however, they may have a new definition. Words such as
idiolect, used in the 1940s and formally defined in the dictionary as Own or personal dialect .
Now, it is formally defined in the dictionary as the speech habits peculiar to a particular person .
Idiolect is most influenced by relationships and experiences, which help shape one s view on the
world and their life. The N word has always been a racial slur and still is;nevertheless, it still is
but it it is used to take away the power, and negative connotation from those who abused the
word. This type of jargon differs for my grandmother s generation as does, Stay woke , Do it for
the culture , and No shade ;however, they have shaped my view on the world just as my
grandmother s has for her. The Black society does not to deprive anyone of their sleep. Stay woke
is the synonym to Don t sleep both meaning to stay alert and stand up to any racial discrimination
/injustice. Some people such as grandmother do not understand why the younger generation does
not just say what they mean. Fulfilling the stereotypical teenage role, I was on my phone in bed
scrolling through news feeds on snapchat and an article by Essence caught my eye. The article
spoke on the many issues of a black woman faces in society and how you should deal with them.
The article mentioned racism and its

Devil Wears Prada Essay Quotes
Devil Wears Prada
Devil Wears Prada is a story of a protagonist, Andrea Sachs and her occupational journey of trying
to balance her profession and her social life. Andrea or known as Andy, has graduated and is hoping
for a job as a journalist. Despite her dreams of becoming a journalist she receives a job at a fashion
magazine known as Runway magazine as an assistant for Miranda Priestly. Throughout the movie,
Andy had to balance her social life and her career pursuit where Miranda had given her many
problematic tasks that Andy had to complete. In the workplace, there will be a wide variety of
instances where you will work hard to complete a task, without receiving any recognition. Three
instances where Andy completed a difficult task ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The task of attaining the manuscript was the breaking point of Andy s workplace, however as
she received the manuscript Andy felt relieved. After getting the manuscript, Miranda was
astonished and started to show Andy respect. After the completion of this task, Andy had
responded in a respectful manner as she answered Miranda s questions about the manuscript.
This was quite humble of Andy as she achieved an impossible task and still spoke to Miranda in
a kind demeanor. If I was in Andy s shoes I would not do things differently as Miranda is her boss
and is willing to fire Andy. Considering this, I would respond to Miranda in the same way Andy
did as her job is on stake. It is evident that this task was difficult and a burden for Andy.
Another instance where Andy had to complete a difficult task was memorizing a protracted list
of names for the fashion extravaganza. They had to tell the names of the guests to Miranda as
they approached her. This task was difficult as she had to memorize all these names by midnight.
In one instance, Andy saved Emily as she forgot the name of one of the guests and Andy
whispered the name into Miranda s ear. Miranda s reaction of this was slightly thankful however
mostly neutral. Emily had a different reaction and was impressed at Andy s work. Andy responded
with a slight nudge and smiled as Emily thanked her. I agree with how Andy responded as she didn
t celebrate that she did something correct and was quite

Remedies Under Breach Of Contract
1.3 Remedies available under breach of contract
1.3.1 Breach of a Contract
A breach of contract is where a party to a contract fails to perform, precisely and faithfully, his
obligations under the contract. This can take numerous forms for example, the failure to supply
goods or perform a service as agreed. Breach of contract may be either actual or anticipatory.
пѓ Actual breach occurs where one party refuses to form his side of the bargain on the due date
or performs incompletely. For example: Poussard v Spiers and Bettini v Gye.
пѓ Anticipatory breach occurs where one party announces, in advance of the due date for
performance, that he intends not to perform his side of the bargain. The innocent party might sue
for damages immediately the breach is announced. Hochster v De La Tour is an example.... Show

1.3.2 Remedy
A legal remedy is a court order that seeks to uphold a person s rights or to reparation a breach of
the law. When one party breaches a contract, the other party might ask a court to deliver a
remedy for the breach. The court might order the breaching party to pay money to the non
breaching party.Without a remedial response; a right would be of little value. Thus the law has
established a series of remedial responses where a breach of contract befalls. The innocent party
might keep a right of action by claiming one or more of the following remedies:
пѓ suit for rescission
пѓ suit for damages
пѓ suit for quantum meruit
пѓ suit for specific

Dynamic Characters In High Fidelity
Dynamic characters evolve because of a life changing event. This transformation into a dynamic
character did not occur until this year. Before senior year being naive and ignorant was my
forte. Similar to Rob in the film High Fidelity who did not grow up until he realized that he is no
longer the adolescent he once was and needs to mature, not only his sake but, for the sake of
those around him. There seems to be a connection between growing up and jumping into an
abyss. Maturity comes with an intense amount of fear. Rob is afraid of commitment because he
knows it means he can no longer sleep around and keep being the adolescent he once was. Similar
to my situation because once I go off to college my family and school will become my only
priorities.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Making a good mix tape requires patience and delicacy. It is a representation of what one is
feeling either in times of distress or excitement. A mix tape should not be chronologically or
alphabetically because life does not occur this way. A good mix tape is autobiographical. This
way there is the ability to reflect on what was occurring in a certain period of one s life and the
ability to reflect on how that experience changed them for better or worse. The second theme was
maturing. Both Rob and I realized that the fear of losing one s adolescence, or innocence, is not
as great as the fear of becoming an adult. Maybe whatever is at the bottom of the abyss is better
than standing at the edge of a cliff. Besides once you ve hit rock bottom the only way to go is

Formal Diagnostic Analysis
Classification of mental disorders keeps improving and changing over time with the goal of
providing more accurate diagnosis and proper intervention. As guides for clinician, the formal
Diagnostic Statistical Manual has categorical description of a variety of illnesses that are classified
based on symptoms (Kite, Gullifer Tyson, 2012). Recently, the new version of the DSM raises
many controversies since it suggests merging Asperger syndromeinto the category of autismdisorder
to reduce confusion and therefore eliminating their differentiation. Their common diagnosis would
now include early delayed linguistic and cognitive development which is only the case for autism
but not for Asperger. For some researchers this slight difference create... Show more content on

The disorder may manifest differently but they presumably have the same biological basis (Frith,
2004). Beside the genetic argument, the outcome of high functioning autism adult is almost
indistinguishable to individual with Asperger to the point that it is difficult to view them
separately. High functioning autism in adulthood without delay in language development is similar
to adult who previously diagnosed with autism and delayed language development. A study
analyzing neuro anatomic structure of the brain finds out that autism and Asperger could be cause
by abnormalities in mini columnar organization and suggests that they may share similar biological
pattern regardless the intelligence. Individuals suffering from autism or Asperger have smaller mini
columns in brain and more dispersed cells than normal functioning individuals. Given this clinical
overlap between the two disorders, it is difficult to tell them apart. Studies support their genetic and
neurobiological similarities (Frith,

Equality between Women and Men, or Gender Equality, means equality of rights and freedoms. For

The Second Theory Of Time
The second theory of the relativity of time is used by Robert Zemeckis in the movie Back to the
Future and Back to the Future Part II. Marty travels back in time in the first movie and back to the
present time, and then in the second he goes into the future, then the present, then the past. Marty
travels through all of these different timeperiods which become altered every time Marty and Doc
travel in time. As they go between different time periods, Marty and Doc encounter different
alternate universes that are coexisting. Every time they go into a different year they have to be
extremely careful as if they disturb anything they will alter the futurecourse of history. This

all of these occurred in some form. Robert took these events and placed them into the life of one
man, making it seem as if humans can go back and manipulate the past to our liking. In this case, he
used many special effects to create the reality that we can go back into time and manipulate the
past to our liking. While he does not explicitly say this, it can be assumed that he went into the past
to recreate it to fit his image of the future.
Robert also made the movie Cast Away which uses time in a different fashion than Forrest
Gump. In the movie, Chuck survives a plane crash in the middle of the ocean but is assumed to
have died as he was not found. The civilized world assumes Chuck has died and has a proper
funeral for him. However, Chuck is living on a deserted island in the middle of the Pacific
Ocean. In the beginning of the movie Chuck is obsessed with time, everything must be on time
and everything is run and calculated to the second. For example, Chuck demands all of his
employees be on time to the second as he walks around with a stop watch making sure that the
employees make the deadline. When he ends up on the island he starts keeping track of time with
scratches in the rocks as tally marks. After a year or so of the approximately four years he was on

Good Over Evil In John Steinbeck s East Of Eden
Each soul born into this life affects people and makes contributions in their sphere of influence.
While some people contribute in positive ways striving each day to be kind, caring for others
and upholding high morals and standards of society, others seem destined to pass each day
hurting others while breaking society s written and unwritten rules for behaviors. Free will
gives people the capacity to make daily decisions that will determine their destiny and allows
people to choose good over evil. The idea of free will is also known as tishmel, a Hebrew word
meaning Thou mayest choose. Tishmel is a significant word to humankind because it offers hope

Arthur Miller was an brilliant play writer pulling together brilliant works like The Death of a

The importance of the Nurses rule over Salem was that it was defined by how the people looked
to her not because they had to but because they wanted too and how the Nurses demonstrated the

Reverend Parris when the book first starts off. Reverend Parris s power over Salem was
displayed by golden candlesticks (Miller A.2 Pg 62). The change in theocratic rule is displayed
by the change in the symbols, Rebecca Nurses brick and mortar give an sense of community and

Not Only Natalee Is Missing By Anne-Marie O Connor
When Natalee Holloway went missing her face was plastered on every television screen to
promote her being found. Some people wonder why white females make national news more
often than any other female or male for that matter. In the argumentative essay Not Only Natalee
is Missing Anne Marie O Connor tries to explain how and why people make national news. O
Connor s essay starts out based on the idea that white females are the only ones that make national
news, but her use of pathos, ethos, and logos, prove this idea to be based upon economic status and
race rather than genderalone.
The author uses pathos to appeal to the audience s sense of open mindedness about women who
make national news. O Connor tries to get the reader to realize how being human can cause
people to overlook certain stories and make them seem unimportant. In her essay she states, We
don t pay as much attention to someone missing from a community we don t know or are not
familiar with (661). This quotation symbolizes how sometimes people can be overlooked in
today s news. The issue about who makes national news can appeal to more than just a sense of
open mindedness, it can also appeal to your sense of sympathy. When news reporters get their
stories, no one is for sure how long the story can stay lingering amongst people. Earl Hutchinson, a
political analyst, states, When you raise the issue people say, This is a tragedy and we should do
more, Hutchinson said. But it only lasts a hot minute.

Essay on Traditional Chinese Medicine
TCM, or Traditional Chinese Medicine, can be traced as far back as 1000 BC, where stone
acupuncture needles were believed to be used. Texts from that period also talked of Yin and
Yang and other concepts. The first written work on TCM is titled the Yellow Emperor s Inner
Classic, Huangdi Newijing (Gascoigne 11). This book was written in 300 BC, but entries date
back to the early 2700 s BC. The book is still used in universities of Chinese Medicine around the
world and is often called the bible of TCM. Today, TCM is still thriving in China and all of Asia.

Cool dryness has the same dry symptoms as warm dryness, except now it also exhibits fever,
chills, headache, and other cold symptoms. The main difference between cold, and cool dryness
is that the person will show more signs of dryness. Dryness enters the body with other climactic
elements, so it can be more dangerous than the other 6 elements because of its ability to combine
its power (Gao 42 50). Internal dryness is caused by loss of blood and other body fluids. Internal
dryness usually occurs after a person has been sick with a disease that caused them to vomit or
to have diarrhea. It can also occur after a great loss of blood or sweat. To much sexual activity
can also result in internal dryness (Gascoigne 67 9). Summer heat is the only one of the 6
influences that only occurs during one season, in this case, the summer. Summer heat is caused
solely by the extreme heat that can occur in the summer time. The symptoms are very similar to
those of heat, but summer heat can also be contracted with dampness. Humidity and rain are
common in China during the summer, so a person could exhibit symptoms such as fever, flushed
face, achy joints, nausea, and fatigue at the same time (Gao 52 4). Other than six pernicious
influences, disease can also be caused as a result of your emotions and your diet (Gascoigne 62).

The Sufi Order is most prevalent in the Middle East in general but specially in Iran, Iraq, Turkey
and India. Sufism is a mystical religion based on fundamentals of Islam promoting the most
simple and direct connection between human beings and God. An accomplished member of the
Order who has completed his training is called a Dervish. The Dervish traveled across villages,
towns and sometimes countries, (usually by foot) spreading the teachings of Sufism. Even today,
it is not uncommon to encounter a traveling Dervish when one visits the countries in the middle
east. They spread the message of love and mercy, helping the needy and poor people. The
Dervish have no earthly possessions other than the clothes on their back. Their lifestyle is
dominated by teaching through story telling, singing, fortune telling (using astrological calendars)
and healing the sick with herbs and extracts. It is important to realize that there are many sects
within Sufism, which reflect its evolution similar to other religions or ways of life. A qualified
description of Dervish is provided by Kabir Helminski an author and translator of three books of
Sufi poetry and a recognized leader in the Sufi Order.
A dervish is an apprentice, one who is learning the profession that will provide eternal livelihood.

Various individuals seek answers through literate arts. While books can t always give us answers
about how to live our lives or how society works, we can still learn a lot. The truth of the matter is
that nobody can determine your future, but yourself. The literate arts can teach individuals different
skills or knowledgeabout society, but what you retain from the books will drastically affect your

Mutual Fund Cash Flows and Stock Market Performance
Mutual Fund Cash Flows and Stock Market Performance*
During the decade of the 1990 s through the year 2001 there were some major shifts in the
deployment of investment assets. Based on a variety of measures, mutual funds grew dramatically
as vehicles for investing in portfolios of stock. Specifically net cash flows into equity funds grew
from $13 billion in 1990 to $310 billion in the year 2000.1 During that same period the number of
equity funds rose from 1,100 to 4,395, while the number of accounts in those funds increased from

The second explanatory variable in our study (M2) was the monthly growth rate of the M2 money
supply. This variable may be viewed as a measure of the change in national monetary liquidity.
Money supply growth also influences the stock market through its impact on general business
conditions and economic activity. The third flow related variable, monthly changes in the federal
funds rate (FF), provides information on the Federal Reserve s efforts to stimulate or dampen the
future growth of financial liquidity. Both fixed income and equity markets pay close attention to
Federal Reserve efforts to encourage or restrict economic growth through interest rate changes.
The final variable was an index of corporate profit growth (EPS). Earnings per share on the S P
500 index was available on a quarterly basis, and using interpolation, monthly estimates of earnings
were obtained. The growth rate of the estimated monthly earnings was calculated as the percentage
change from the same calendar month of the prior year. In essence we applied the same type of
comparisons used when companies contrast their most recent quarterly results to the same quarter
of the previous year. This also has the effect of reducing problems associated with seasonal
variations.2

Summary Of Coyote And The Enemy Aliens
Japanese Canadians Aliens?
Coyote and the Enemy Aliens is a satirical commentary that effectively expounds on the intense
objectification and dehumanization of Japanese Canadians during the colonial Canadian era. By
depicting the grotesque living conditions, the Japanese were subjected to, King is able to critique
the racist perspectives of the Canadian society. King condemns the actions of colonial white men,
depicting them as creatures engulfed in moral blindness that strive to fabricate an ideal white
world. Moreover, King vividly portrays the idea of social dynamics, expounding on the
helplessness of Citizens against dominant political powers. King also introduces an idea of

The climax of the prose illustrates the disturbing elements of socio political history in Canada. The
political entities stand in the near vicinity of the vehicle, singing O Canada. and waving flags .
Through the depiction of this disturbing image, King criticizes racist political leaders in Canada
that justified their crimes cemented on ideals of nationalism reflecting on the moral conscience of
colonial Canada. The insensitivity of white men is expounded in their embarkment of engineering
the atomic bomb. In the near conclusion of the story, Coyote travels to Los Alamos to make the
world safe for freedom . The white men euphemistically portray the Manhattan project (in Los
Alamos) as a catalyst of peace and prosperity. However, this notion is ironic as this project
engineered a mass destruction weapon leading innocent people being evaporated in a second. King
inputs this powerful idea to expose the Hippocratic nature of white men in that era, who patronized
themselves as saints, but in reality, were responsible for the construction of the most dangerous
military weapon.
The intensely grotesque perspectives and actions committed by coyote are a striking testament to
how the general population was able to be manipulated based on ludicrous perceptions of Japanese
propagated in Canada. King employs the dim witted character of Coyote to satirize racist Canadian
politicians and comment on their prejudiced notions

negative covenants and the related definitions are among the most heavily negotiated provisions in
a credit agreement. In order to get comfortable funding loans to a borrower, lenders require
restrictions on a borrower s operations that will hopefully help keep management on a path that

Software Defined Networking: Google s B4 SDN
Dhruv Bhatia
Illinois Tech dbhatia4@hawk.iit.edu ABSTRACT
Software Defined Networking or SDN is an emerging paradigm in the computer networking world
that attempts to build a computer network by essentially separating it into two systems, the control
plane and the data plane. The separation effectively makes it possible to write a single high level
program to control the behavior of an entire network. This allows a network operator to potentially
write programs to more easily secure, manage or troubleshoot the networks. SDN has gained
tremendous momentum and six of the world s largest networks are supporting it, Google s B4
network being one of them. In this paper, I highlight the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These traffic patterns would cause very high demands for a particular resources that they could not
meet with the existing network infrastructure. So they had two choices, either scale the network
infrastructure to meet the peaks, which is very expensive and leading to networks being under
utilized, or you build your network in such a way that it can reconfigure itself automatically to cope
with those peaks and channel the resources to meet the appropriate demand. This is what SDN does.
There are only a few significant implementations of Software Defined Networking that exists today.
One of those few is Google s B4 SDN. This research further describes the framework that Google
has developed for their migration methods personified by a group of target networks which includes
the traditional network migration requirements, target network core requirement, phased migration
requirement and finally validation requirements to ensure a complete and successful network
migration to SDN.

A software defined network attempts to build a computer network by separating it into two systems.
The first system is the control plane which provides performance and fault management via

of this would be if the pipe has ragging issues or there is a lot of silting/debris that could
potentially get stuck on the probe and cause the probe to not read the way it should be. This is a
much more expensive option it would provide data without the worry of silt/debris or ragging of
the pipe getting in the way. Costs for this type of meter are listed below.
Signature Laser Flow meter system: starts at $9,750 o This includes

Theme Of A Utopian Society
Part One One of the major themes Mitchell plays with in his novel is the concept of a utopian
society, and what it is comprised of. In each story, there is a setup for a perfect society, but
humanity, or humanity s spirit got in the way. Each story represents how the interpretation of
things can shape a society, depending on how literal they take the events. In the story Sloosha s
Crossin an Everythin After , the tales are in place to develop the role of each character. Zachry
fights his inner demons, just as Truman Napes does with Old Georgie. Zachry chooses to
protect and befriend Meronym, even though it goes against his initial judgement. Meronym
fights for the overall good of the people just as the crow does in Prescient yarnie . She goes out
and lives with the villagers to gather information, and saves Zachry s sister. She is making
diplomatic decisions to take on the risk of changing the course of things by helping her. The
function of Zachry and Meronym are to be foils of each other, even the story is told from the
biased perspective of Zachry. Meronym is focused on long term goals, and the redevelopment of
society, while Zachry is very much focused on the presenttime, and the folklore that affects his day
to day life.
On a small scale, their stories are not important, which is how Mitchell intended it to be. In the
novel as whole, their place is more significant. Each tale foreshadows what could become prevalent
in the future. Zachry s story is the last in

Immigrants Be Illegal
Immigrating should be legal because I believe we all have human rights and freedom is one of
our rights so why can t we all be equal. I honestly feel like immigrants work really hard and seek
for a better life, If it wasn t for immigrants crossing over here how would our countries even hold
ups are basically the ones who run it. How are some of us considered legal and some illegal; aren
t we all supposed to be equal? Illegal citizens usually move to other countries in search of improved
living standards and higher education. It s through higher education that these people will have
increased standards of living. As a result, they move in these countries so that they can get a higher
education which will enable them to work in good... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
America is a selfish country that thinks that they are beyond others and everyone s out to get
them. They are inhospitable to others from another country because they are scared that their
jobs might be taken away. A controlled, limited, flow of physically and mentally healthy
immigrants who will assimilate and are capable of contributing to America with their skills and
training is a good thing. The uncontrolled invasion that has been allowed to overrun our country,
threaten our culture, and burden our social systems, is a national disgrace and a threat to our
security. I m all for the equal opportunity so for the people who are against it what if your family
were immigrants? Then they would not be against it right. I come from a family that is
undocumented and that s not the only reason why I want to make people understand why Non
Citizens should have the right to immigrate but because I have seen my family struggle. Families
are away from each other and we can t see each other because of the law. I myself am a U.S citizen
that wants to fight for the rights that Non Citizens deserve, President Trump has made this world
become hell Trump has blamed undocumented immigrants for taking American jobs, committing
violent crimes and milking US taxpayers. The Conference Board states on Article (Bill Links and

Desperation Character Analysis
Having hope and courage is hard in a town like Desperation. A mining town controlled by an evil
spirit, Tak, that inhabits citizens, and it forces them to do unspeakable things. It first possesses a
cop, Collie Entragian, who kidnaps people and murders them. However, the Collie Entragian
survival crew has bravery at all times. In the book Desperationby Stephen King, King s message is
courage is a powerful tool. The main characters experience unimaginable torture and many
hardships. However, they keep going and face their fears.
David Carver was abducted with his family by Collie Entragian. He always has hope and is
faithful; he believes it was his job to serve and love God. Throughout the novel, he uses this to
motivate him. Within the first couple hours of being in Desperation, both his sister, father, and
mother were murdered. Although this is immensely tough, he tried to prevent this from
happening to others. For example, he risked his life to find another person. He stated, I can find
him. He s close...I m supposed to find him (King 596). David was courageous in this moment
because he knew the risks and still went out to find John Marinville. This action speaks volumes
about David s character and the overall theme. For example, David knew he could face a similar
fate as his family, but he fought against the demon. Instead of fearing what Takmight do, he
focused on helping others and escaping. He overcame Tak because of the courage he had, not by
using anything

Analysis Of An Octoroon And M. Butterfly
Branden Jacobs Jenkins An Octoroon and David Henry Hwang s M. Butterfly are both
sophisticated works centered around sociocultural problems in their respective settings. In An
Octoroon, Branden Jacobs Jenkins presents his own adaptation of Dion Boucicault s The Octoroon
critiquing Boucicault s depiction of race and identity on the plantation Terrebonne in Louisiana.
The play is centered around the sale of the plantation and a girl who is one eighth black by descent,
an octoroon girl named Zoe who is tied to the estate. While M. Butterfly is the story of Gallimard, a
French diplomat who is sent to Beijing and slowly becomes enamored with an opera singer named
Song Liling, who turns out to be a man. This analysis however, will focus on the Brechtian
elements that Hwang and Jacobs Jenkins implement to evoke a certain response from their
audience. These elements include gests or Gestus in Latin, and historicization to present an
alienation effect in the audience that Brecht coined Verfremdungseffekt . These elements contribute
to the presentation of an Epic Theatre, an undramatic way in which the audience watches the play
in a isolated, critical frame of mind. Before showing the elements of the play, a critical
understanding of what makes an epic theatrejust that is needed. Firstly, the events of the play
should be spaced out over lengthy periods of time and using all different kinds of settings. This
is easily observable in An Octoroon where Jacobs Jenkins takes the audience from an empty
theater with just he and Boucicault, to the outside of Terrebonne in Act 1, to the wharf in Act 2,
then the interior of the Peyton home in Act 3, back to empty theater with BJJ and Boucicault in
Act 4, then lastly outside the slaves quarters on Terrebonne however, it is night time and very
dimly light almost like a new setting entirely. In M. Butterfly however there are almost too many
places to count from Gallimard s cell, to the German Ambassador s house, to the opera house
where Song is, to Song s apartment, all the way to the French Embassy and other different places
around Beijing. Not only does providing all these settings historicize the plays showing them as a
historical event rather than as a mere play in which

The Importance Of The Miranda Warnings
Miranda warnings are not required due to the factor that John wasn t being asked any questions at
the time that he was making self incriminating statements. John was in custody, the legal concept
of custody exists when a suspect perceives that he is not free to leave an immediate area (Reid,
2010). John wasn t advised of the 5th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which gives
individuals the right to refuse to answer any questions or make any statements (Fifth
Amendement Right Against Self Incrimination, 2009). This was completely legal due to the
factor that John wasn t being interviewed at the time of arrest. It is popular belief that the
Miranda warnings as seen on television have to be read directly after arrest; however, the
Miranda warnings are required if a person is in custody (deprived of his or her freedom in any
significant way), the police must give a Miranda warning prior to questioning the suspect and use
the suspect (Police Questioning: When Mirnada Warnings Are Required, 2010). The simple
equation for Miranda warning is custody + interrogation = the requirement for Miranda warnings
(Petrocelli, 2010). According to Petrocelli (2010), voluntary statements are not subject to Miranda
warnings, so an officer need not stop a suspect from making incriminating voluntary statements. If
the police officers were asking him questions during the time of arrest the whole scenario would
have changed and the Miranda warnings would be required due to the factor that

Blackhorse Espresso Bakery And Bakery
Many know BlackHorse Espresso Bakery as the spot to grab a quick cup of coffee, a fancy latte, a
yummy panini, or get some studying in. Many, however, probably do not know how this local
chain began. BlackHorse Espresso Bakery is a series of four small town coffee shops in San Luis
Obispo. Since its establishment in 1995 as Uptown Espresso, BlackHorse is now renamed, under a
new ownership, and has expanded from one to four locations throughout San Luis Obispo.
According to AnnMarie Cornejo, writer for The Tribune, Randy Coates opened the first store,
Uptown Espresso, on Higuera Street in 1995. Coates then introduced the name BlackHorse in
2007. The name is said to be in honor of the legend, O. L. Deloloy, a poor, immigrant grandfather
who rode his black horse around Seattle stealing coffeebeans from the docks and brewing them
into coffee to give to his neighbors. In 2008, Randy Coates retired and sold BlackHorse to Tom
Brown and Greg Hind, who in 2009 proceeded to open a second location in Broad Street Village
(Cornejo, 2011). BlackHorse continued to grow in 2011 when they opened their Foothill location
and again in 2013 the LOVR location opened.
BlackHorse is not just any espresso and bakery; it is a company that prides itself in a strong
culture and vision for its aspirations. According to the company website, BlackHorse s mission
statement is to provide the best coffee and customer service by equipping [their] baristas with top of
the line espresso machines,

As a marketer in BP, he was disappointed when a man he outclassed was promoted to become his
direct boss. This he considered very unfair especially because he had just then helped boost the
company s sales by about 25% with the winning over of a new contract.
He left the job to serve himself at a time when it was considered stupid to leave the certainty of a
colonial job for the uncertainty of private enterprise. The result was the establishment of a small
family business (with his wife) now known as ELIZADE NIGERIA LIMITED.
HOW THE BUSINESS WAS ESTABLIHED
His Start up funding: Chief Michael Ade Ojo did not make it that easily; he started with the little
money he was able to save at the time he was working combined with the help from his wife.
Registration of the business: In 1968, he registered a business name Known as Elizade Trading
Stores handling general textile sales including underwear under the 1968 Companies Decree (now
known as Companies and Allied Matters Act 1990 as amended), but later started business as an
automobile marketing company named Elizade Independent Agencies formed in 1971. By 1973
Elizade Trading Stores and Elizade Independent Agencies were merged and Elizade Nigeria
Limited was incorporated and in 1976 the company secured Federal Government License which

Cultural And Historical Significance Of The Film 12 Years...
The Cultural and Historical Significance of the Film 12 Years A Slave The cultural and
historical significance of the film has changed and reshaped the views and cultures of African
Americans with the roles that they have as a race in society as a result of the racial formation
and performance portrayed in the film. The movie presents a verifiable and precise account of
the collective experience of slaves in the United States of America in the late 18th century. The
basic facts of the movie from the start to the finish concern events about the places, the time, and
the practices that took place during the slave era in detail. The movie is inspired by a book
written by David Wilson about the narrative events of Solomon Northup as a slave. Both the
book and the movie share the same title. In the book, he speaks with a lot of authority on all
subjects especially enslavement of black Americans and in the process, he names popular
leaders as well as several other landmarks without fear of contradiction because we understand
that public records have enough knowledge to defend his position. In the movie, the slave trader
is accused of keeping slaves as captive in a slave pen in Washington DC. Not only is the name of
the slave and the slaver mentioned, but also their accomplices in addition to the location where the
slave pen is located, the structure of the slave pen, an all details that allow one to imagine the
scenario that of the poor slaves had to undergo, all stacked together

The Adaptive Identity
The concern about identity is a major existential question. People recognize different objects by
their sense, and thus consider their appearance, sound, or smell as their identities. In many cases,
even though the physical traits of an object have changed, people still know the object. Therefore,
these physical definitions of objects are not their identities. The connections of these characteristics,
and furthermore of them and their inner self, define the uniqueness of an individual. Since the
massive universe constantly moves toward entropy, the only consistency is change : caterpillars
transform to butterflies, the ugly duckling turns into a beautiful swan, and I have become
unacquainted with my mother language but more comfortable with English. Thus, I am concerned
about my rising ignorance of my own culture and of my true being in the world. But in the poem
Identity by A. R. Ammons, I find relief: identity holds its center within but proceeds to randomness
on the exterior to adjust and adapt. The spiderand the spider webserve as extended metaphors that
represent human beings and their identity. A spider makes web from its body and creates a place
for itself in the world. Because the spider silkis formed in its body, it is a portrayal of the inner
part of an individual; with the silk, spiders weave webs that identify a species (2). Mostly, they
weave a special center (on which they rest), and leave a relatively large circular space around the
beautiful

Connected or not, these three factors can influence the character s behavior whether it be in or out of a figurative sense. These three components are also very symbolic in Ernest Hemingway s writing, more specifically in his short stories Indian Camp , The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber , as well as the interchapters from In Our Time. Ernest Hemingway s portrayal of conflict creates a violent normality in some of his stories. This is shown by the character s response to suicide, hunting, and war. This removal of his veil was very abrupt and no one intended for it to happen at that moment. The death of the Indian husband came as a shock to the characters and even though it was unintended, it still played a major part in the tone of the birth of the Indian baby. Your life is worth it, and putting yourself at risk makes you a careless person. In 2012, 7,500 teens and young adults between the ages of 16 24 were killed in a car crash. 60% were not wearing a seatbelt out of 34,080. Every 16 minutes, someone dies in an accident and about 89 people lose their lives each day. Wearing a seatbelt slows your body down and decreases how far your body goes before it stops and wearing a seatbelt prevents you from flying out of the car and decreases the chance of damaging your body. People think that since they are only going a short distance, they don t need a seatbelt because it s not like they re going to get into an accident for the three blocks they re traveling to. They re wrong about that. Studies show that 50% of fatal accidents happen near their home or workplace. As a car is going 55 MPH and it hits a solid object, the rest of the car is still going 55 MPH even when a car frame has stopped. While the rear end is going 35 MPH, your body is still traveling at 55 MPH. Seatbelts saved around 13,941 lives in 2015 and it could ve saved 2,814 more people if they were wearing a seatbelt. Some people wonder why white females make national news more often than any other female or male for that matter. In the argumentative essay Not Only Natalee is Missing Anne Marie O Connor tries to explain how and why people make national news. O Connor s essay starts out based on the idea that white females are the only ones that make national news, but her use of pathos, ethos, and logos, prove this idea to be based upon economic status and race rather than genderalone. The author uses pathos to appeal to the audience s sense of open mindedness about women who make national news. O Connor tries to get the reader to realize how being human can cause people to overlook certain stories and make them seem unimportant. In her essay she states, We don t pay as much attention to someone missing from a community we don t know or are not familiar with (661). This quotation symbolizes how sometimes people can be overlooked in today s news. The issue about who makes national news can appeal to more than just a sense of open mindedness, it can also appeal to your sense of sympathy. When news reporters get their stories, no one is for sure how long the story can stay lingering amongst people. A controlled, limited, flow of physically and mentally healthy immigrants who will assimilate and are capable of contributing to America with their skills and training is a good thing. The uncontrolled invasion that has been allowed to overrun our country, threaten our culture, and burden our social systems, is a national disgrace and a threat to our security. I m all for the equal opportunity so for the people who are against it what if your family were immigrants? Then they would not be against it right. I come from a family that is undocumented and that s not the only reason why I want to make people understand why Non Citizens should have the right to immigrate but because I have seen my family struggle. Families are away from each other and we can t see each other because of the law. I myself am a U.S citizen that wants to fight for the rights that Non Citizens deserve, President Trump has made this world become hell Trump has blamed undocumented immigrants for taking American jobs, committing violent crimes and milking US taxpayers. The Conference Board states on Article (Bill Links and More) There are certainly anecdotal examples of each, but Trump also applies his usual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Desperation Character Analysis Having hope and courage is hard in a town like Desperation. A mining town controlled by an evil spirit, Tak, that inhabits citizens, and it forces them to do unspeakable things. It first possesses a cop, Collie Entragian, who kidnaps people and murders them. However, the Collie Entragian survival crew has bravery at all times. In the book Desperationby Stephen King, King s message is courage is a powerful tool. The main characters experience unimaginable torture and many hardships. However, they keep going and face their fears. David Carver was abducted with his family by Collie Entragian. He always has hope and is faithful; he believes it was his job to serve and love God. Throughout the novel, he uses this to motivate him. Within the first couple hours of being in Desperation, both his sister, father, and mother were murdered. Although this is immensely tough, he tried to prevent this from happening to others. For example, he risked his life to find another person. He stated, I can find him. He s close...I m supposed to find him (King 596). David was courageous in this moment because he knew the risks and still went out to find John Marinville. This action speaks volumes about David s character and the overall theme. For example, David knew he could face a similar fate as his family, but he fought against the demon. Instead of fearing what Takmight do, he focused on helping others and escaping. He overcame Tak because of the courage he had, not by using anything ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Analysis Of An Octoroon And M. Butterfly Branden Jacobs Jenkins An Octoroon and David Henry Hwang s M. Butterfly are both sophisticated works centered around sociocultural problems in their respective settings. In An Octoroon, Branden Jacobs Jenkins presents his own adaptation of Dion Boucicault s The Octoroon critiquing Boucicault s depiction of race and identity on the plantation Terrebonne in Louisiana. The play is centered around the sale of the plantation and a girl who is one eighth black by descent, an octoroon girl named Zoe who is tied to the estate. While M. Butterfly is the story of Gallimard, a French diplomat who is sent to Beijing and slowly becomes enamored with an opera singer named Song Liling, who turns out to be a man. This analysis however, will focus on the Brechtian elements that Hwang and Jacobs Jenkins implement to evoke a certain response from their audience. These elements include gests or Gestus in Latin, and historicization to present an alienation effect in the audience that Brecht coined Verfremdungseffekt . These elements contribute to the presentation of an Epic Theatre, an undramatic way in which the audience watches the play in a isolated, critical frame of mind. Before showing the elements of the play, a critical understanding of what makes an epic theatrejust that is needed. Firstly, the events of the play should be spaced out over lengthy periods of time and using all different kinds of settings. This is easily observable in An Octoroon where Jacobs Jenkins takes the audience from an empty theater with just he and Boucicault, to the outside of Terrebonne in Act 1, to the wharf in Act 2, then the interior of the Peyton home in Act 3, back to empty theater with BJJ and Boucicault in Act 4, then lastly outside the slaves quarters on Terrebonne however, it is night time and very dimly light almost like a new setting entirely. In M. Butterfly however there are almost too many places to count from Gallimard s cell, to the German Ambassador s house, to the opera house where Song is, to Song s apartment, all the way to the French Embassy and other different places around Beijing. Not only does providing all these settings historicize the plays showing them as a historical event rather than as a mere play in which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Importance Of The Miranda Warnings Miranda warnings are not required due to the factor that John wasn t being asked any questions at the time that he was making self incriminating statements. John was in custody, the legal concept of custody exists when a suspect perceives that he is not free to leave an immediate area (Reid, 2010). John wasn t advised of the 5th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which gives individuals the right to refuse to answer any questions or make any statements (Fifth Amendement Right Against Self Incrimination, 2009). This was completely legal due to the factor that John wasn t being interviewed at the time of arrest. It is popular belief that the Miranda warnings as seen on television have to be read directly after arrest; however, the Miranda warnings are required if a person is in custody (deprived of his or her freedom in any significant way), the police must give a Miranda warning prior to questioning the suspect and use the suspect (Police Questioning: When Mirnada Warnings Are Required, 2010). The simple equation for Miranda warning is custody + interrogation = the requirement for Miranda warnings (Petrocelli, 2010). According to Petrocelli (2010), voluntary statements are not subject to Miranda warnings, so an officer need not stop a suspect from making incriminating voluntary statements. If the police officers were asking him questions during the time of arrest the whole scenario would have changed and the Miranda warnings would be required due to the factor that ... • 46. Blackhorse Espresso Bakery And Bakery Many know BlackHorse Espresso Bakery as the spot to grab a quick cup of coffee, a fancy latte, a yummy panini, or get some studying in. Many, however, probably do not know how this local chain began. BlackHorse Espresso Bakery is a series of four small town coffee shops in San Luis Obispo. Since its establishment in 1995 as Uptown Espresso, BlackHorse is now renamed, under a new ownership, and has expanded from one to four locations throughout San Luis Obispo. According to AnnMarie Cornejo, writer for The Tribune, Randy Coates opened the first store, Uptown Espresso, on Higuera Street in 1995. Coates then introduced the name BlackHorse in 2007. The name is said to be in honor of the legend, O. L. Deloloy, a poor, immigrant grandfather who rode his black horse around Seattle stealing coffeebeans from the docks and brewing them into coffee to give to his neighbors. In 2008, Randy Coates retired and sold BlackHorse to Tom Brown and Greg Hind, who in 2009 proceeded to open a second location in Broad Street Village (Cornejo, 2011). BlackHorse continued to grow in 2011 when they opened their Foothill location and again in 2013 the LOVR location opened. • 49. Cultural And Historical Significance Of The Film 12 Years... The Cultural and Historical Significance of the Film 12 Years A Slave The cultural and historical significance of the film has changed and reshaped the views and cultures of African Americans with the roles that they have as a race in society as a result of the racial formation and performance portrayed in the film. The movie presents a verifiable and precise account of the collective experience of slaves in the United States of America in the late 18th century. The basic facts of the movie from the start to the finish concern events about the places, the time, and the practices that took place during the slave era in detail. The movie is inspired by a book written by David Wilson about the narrative events of Solomon Northup as a slave. Both the book and the movie share the same title. In the book, he speaks with a lot of authority on all subjects especially enslavement of black Americans and in the process, he names popular leaders as well as several other landmarks without fear of contradiction because we understand that public records have enough knowledge to defend his position. In the movie, the slave trader is accused of keeping slaves as captive in a slave pen in Washington DC. Not only is the name of the slave and the slaver mentioned, but also their accomplices in addition to the location where the slave pen is located, the structure of the slave pen, an all details that allow one to imagine the scenario that of the poor slaves had to undergo, all stacked together ... • 50. The Adaptive Identity The concern about identity is a major existential question. People recognize different objects by their sense, and thus consider their appearance, sound, or smell as their identities. In many cases, even though the physical traits of an object have changed, people still know the object. Therefore, these physical definitions of objects are not their identities. The connections of these characteristics, and furthermore of them and their inner self, define the uniqueness of an individual. Since the massive universe constantly moves toward entropy, the only consistency is change : caterpillars transform to butterflies, the ugly duckling turns into a beautiful swan, and I have become unacquainted with my mother language but more comfortable with English. Thus, I am concerned about my rising ignorance of my own culture and of my true being in the world. But in the poem Identity by A. R. Ammons, I find relief: identity holds its center within but proceeds to randomness on the exterior to adjust and adapt. The spiderand the spider webserve as extended metaphors that represent human beings and their identity. A spider makes web from its body and creates a place for itself in the world. Because the spider silkis formed in its body, it is a portrayal of the inner part of an individual; with the silk, spiders weave webs that identify a species (2). Mostly, they weave a special center (on which they rest), and leave a relatively large circular space around the beautiful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
