Conclusion/Analysis

   Of
  the
  three
  brands
  I
  researched,
  Helmut
  Lang
  did
  not
  have
  as
  many
  op/ons

that
  were
  similar
  to
  the
  forecasted
  ‘Chunky
  Turtleneck’
  trend.
  The
  available
  colors
  were

predicted,
  but
  the
  turtleneck
  was
  not
  oversized
  or
  exaggerated.
  The
  sleeves
  were
  not

long,
  and
  the
  overall
  silhoueMe
  was
  not
  voluminous.
  Though
  Helmut
  Lang
  offers
  some

oversized
  pieces,
  most
  of
  their
  knitwear
  is
  form-‐figng.
  Because
  Helmut
  Lang’s
  line
  is

more
  expensive
  than
  Rag
  &
  Bone
  and
  H&M,
  they
  have
  an
  older
  target
  market
  that
  is

more
  conserva/ve.
  Rag
  &
  Bone
  and
  H&M
  have
  a
  younger
  target
  market
  whom
  is
  more

open
  to
  adop/ng
  new
  trends,
  therefore
  the
  brand
  is
  able
  to
  create
  trendier
  pieces.

   Rag
  &
  Bone’s
  ‘Sarah
  Rib
  Turtleneck’
  was
  almost
  iden/cal
  to
  the
  forecast.
  The

fit
  was
  baggy
  and
  exaggerated
  in
  all
  areas:
  neck,
  sleeves,
  and
  body.
  Their
  ‘Blithe

  similar
  with

  long
  sleeves
  and
  neck,
  but
  it
  was
  less
  bulky
  and
  more
  form-‐
figng.
  This
  would
  be
  a
  good
  op/on
  for
  someone
  who
  wanted
  to
  stay
  on-‐trend
  without

adding
  volume
  to
  their
  figure.
  In
  addi/on
  to
  these
  two
  turtlenecks,
  Rag
  &
  Bone
  had

several
  other
  varia/ons
  of
  the
  predicted
  trend.
  Some
  styles
  were
  bulky
  and
  oversized

with
  a
  cowl
  neck
  and
  no
  sleeves,
  while
  others
  had
  exaggerated
  sleeves
  but
  a
  short

turtleneck.
  Out
  of
  the
  three
  brands,
  Rag
  &
  Bone
  had
  the
  largest
  selec/on
  of
  items

similar
  to
  the
  predicted
  trend.

   Finally
  I
  looked
  at
  H&M’s
  sweaters.
  The
  ‘Mohair
  Blend
  Turtleneck’
  was

extremely
  similar
  to
  the
  predicted
  trend.

  was
  oversized
  with
  an
  extra
  long

  and
  a

wide-‐cut
  body.
  The
  main
  difference
  from
  the
  predicted
  trend
  was
  that
  its
  sleeves
  were

fiMed;
  this
  was
  done
  to
  maintain
  feminine
  shape.
  Similar
  to
  Rag
  &
  Bone,
  H&M
  had
  a

wide
  variety
  of
  similar
  but
  not
  exact
  trend
  pieces.
  The
  biggest
  difference
  between
  the

merchandise
  and
  the
  predic/on
  was
  that
  though
  the
  pieces
  were
  oversized,
  they

weren’t
  bulky
  and
  didn’t
  add
  a
  lot
  of
  volume
  to
  the
  silhoueMe.
