Taking A Look At Bodybuilding Supplements
Taking a look at bodybuilding supplements
Supplements can come as a great solution for the bodybuilder that wants to get better results from
his workouts. But before diving into the land of bodybuilding supplements, buying everything you
can and everything you heard that might be good for bigger gains, you should calm a little bit and
inform yourself on what does what. There are a plethora of products on the market. There is the
real supplement, the product that will aid you in your workout to become the next bodybuilding
world champion. Then there are tons and tons of miracle products. Unfortunately for us, they are
legally sold and can not be put down, despite the fact that there are just simple scams that promise
the unthinkable. You need to know what to look for, what to buy and how a product may affect
you. Also, you need to understand that supplements are nothing more than little boosters in your
already carefully planned workout and diet that you follow religiously. Supplements without hard
work is just mindless consumption of useless products. Working hard is what makes bodybuilding
such a great sport which attracts so many people. Nutrients are there to help you harden up in your
hard work, resulting into advancing to even harder work. As it was mentioned, products are plenty.
There are plenty of products for the most specific of needs. The most popular ones are creatine,
protein powders, whey protein, glutamine, muscle milk, whey, iron supplements, vitamins

Dishonest In The Workplace At Panera Bread
In today s society, people can be dishonest and cheat their way through life. Working in
anywhere, your bosses and coworkers have to gain your trust. For over a year now, I work at
Panera Bread. We are always hiring new staff throughout spring and summer. People come and
go for stealing food or not treating customers with respect. Until recently, one of my managers
experienced embezzlement. My manager is sending her child off to college and taking care of
the rest of her family, which is a big expense. Someone apart of our staff stole three hundred
dollars from her purse. She lost her whole paycheck that she had earned. Everyone was not sure
who to trust or rely on anymore. No one was honest and confessed they did it. I doubted the integrity

East of Eden vs the Kite Runner
The desire for love and the need for acceptance can create more than a feeling of rejection. In East
of Eden and The Kite Runner, many characters find the task of love daunting and insufficient to
their expectations. Love presents itself in every aspect of both novels and therefore is a major
theme. Whether it was lovefrom family or lovers, both novels explore the idea of unrequited love
and its consequences on the characters lifelong journeys. The theme of love is a major
underlying cause of many problems within East of Eden for it creates a feeling of rejection by
family and lovers. The idea that love is blind becomes the center of revolution for the feelings
between Adam Trask and his wife, Cathy. Steinbeck explores the... Show more content on

Amir s shame brought on by his marriage to honest Soraya was his poor treatment of his closest
childhood friend, and later understood half brother, Hassan. Amir questions what would have
happened had he not as a child lied monstrously about Hassan which resulted in Hassan and Ali
leaving the service of Baba (Graves 1). These feelings of inadequacy arose when Amir overheard
his father say I d never believe he s my son (Hosseini 23). Amir and Caleb both indirectly caused
the death of their brothers because of their jealousy. Both believed the other sibling was loved
more, when all actuality the only reason it seemed this way is because there was more in
common between Adam and Aron and Baba and Hassan which led to a stronger bond but not
greater love. Finally, Steinbeck and Hosseini both include the trials and tribulations of childhood
and its affects on the boys later lives. In East of Eden, the difference between Aron and Caleb was
the same as the opposites of good and evil, strength and weakness, love and hate, beauty and
ugliness (Aubrey 1). Aron was all that symbolized angelic whereas Caleb was everything you
would find evil. Caleb would tease and purposefully hurt Aron out of pure joy in his actions, nothing
could hurt him, and nothing could stop him (Steinbeck 335). In the end, Caleb tries to compare
himself to the

Scene Analysis of Chicken Run Essay
Scene Analysis of Chicken Run
This essay will analyse three key scenes from the film Chicken Run. It will look at the characters
that are good and bad. In particular Ginger, the chicken who has the idea to escape from the
chicken farm on which they stay, and Mrs. Tweedy the owner of the chicken farm.
After many failed escape attempts the chickens are low on morale until a flying rooster from the
circus come to their rescue. But not everything runs smoothly and rocky the rooster can be
suspected of fowl play.
The first scene I am analysing is at the beginning where Ginger is escaping through a hole under
the fence. We only see Ginger as a silhouette until we see a close up of a big orange ... Show more

Also Mrs. Tweedy has a very sniggering tone of voice that just adds to the evil and sinister
character being quickly built up in the space of five seconds.
The use of dark and shadows in the scene really helps us with the idea of who is good and who is
bad. In this scene the lighting is particularly harsh as Mrs. Tweedy is backlit in an unfriendly and
somewhat disturbing manor. Her face is in shadow that gives off a very negative vibe to her as a
person.
The costume in this scene is very simple; Ginger simply wears a green knitted hat possibly, knitted
by Babs. Where as Mrs. Tweedy s clothing is quite contradictive as she is dressed in a pink dressing
gown and a pink frilly nightdress. Her face is in shadow so she looks garish and very cold hearted.
In this first scene we are quickly led to the assumption that Mrs. Tweedy is the boss and the
chickens are small and unimportant. We get a good guide as to who is a good character and who
is a bad character.
I n the second scene I am analysing is where Mrs. Tweedy is patrolling up and down the lines of
chickens who are stood arranged in whet can only be described as military style rows.
Many are stood quaking on the spot scared witless . The different styles of cinematography in this
key scene really help the audience to see the

Symbolism In The Mockingbird
Symbolism of the Mockingbird
Mockingbirds don t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy they don t do one thing but
sing their hearts out for us that is why it is a sin to kill a Mockingbird Harper Lee Mockingbirds
are only here to sing their songs and to bring us joy. A Blue Jay is someone or something that
preys on the week. Mockingbirds have to be shielded from the Blue Jays. Although Mockingbirds
don t always need to be protected they do have to be protected from Blue Jays because they are
gentle creatures whereas the Blue Jay is territorial and corrupt. Mockingbirds are only here to sing
their songs and to bring us joy. A Mockingbird is innocent, without fault and only here to help. To
kill a Mockingbird is a sin. (119) This is because a Mockingbird is an animal that doesn t cause
harm and has proved to only have a pure heart. Tom Robinson is the predominant Mockingbird.
Tom s death was like the senseless killing of songbirds. (241) Since another word for
mockingbird is a songbird, this quote is telling us that Tom is like a Mockingbird and that his
death wasn t supposed to happen. The unexpected Mockingbird is Boo Radley. Atticus looked
like he needed cheering up I ran to him and said yes sir, I understand Mr. Tate was right he looked
at me and said what do you mean well it d sort of be like shooting a Mockingbird. (318) Clearly
Scout is saying that if Maycome were to find out that Boo killed Bob it would probably kill him
because Boo delights in being alone. Tom Robinson and Boo Radley are the representation of the
Mockingbird.
A Blue Jay is someone or something that preys on the week. Blue jays are territorial creatures
who destroy the gardens of people who live around them. In our courts, when it s a white man s
word against a black man s, the white man always wins. They re ugly, but those are the facts of
life. (221) Fearlessly Atticus is talking to Jem about the white man or Bob Ewell. Since Atticus is
defending Tom and is going against the Ewells in court Bob Ewell is targeting Atticus and his
family. Bob Ewell is the most recognizable Blue jay. They have been the disgrace of Maycomb for
three generations. (30) Sternly Atticus is saying that the Ewells are not good people or at

The Positive Impacts Of Community Development In South Africa
Community development around the world is being practised by various entities, addressing
various socio economic issues that are unique to different communities worldwide. According to
Bhattacharyya (2004), community development initiatives are dominant in democratic countries.
There are various initiatives that have led to significant shifts in the wellbeing of communities
using different developmenttools to develop communities around the world. South African, which
is a democratic country has one of the highest income gabs in the world. The country s income
difference is evident in many townships/rural areas around the country s underdeveloped
communities. The positive impact of community development may be seen in the fields of public
health, micro macro development, food and violence (Bhattacharyya, 2004).
Community development is multi faceted. Bhattacharyya (2004) argues that community
development is not a distinct field and that not everything that is being done by developers to
improve communities should not be regarded as community development. Bhattacharyya (2004)
states that it should only be regarded as community development if the improvement pursues
solidarity and agency which can be achieved through adhering to the principles of self help, felt
needs and participation.
In previous community development research, Bhattacharyya (2004) finds that locality has been
used as a proxy for community development. He argues that it is becoming analytically irrelevant

Business Law
Business Law Research Paper Business law is law that refers to law that is dealt with when
dealing with people and certain matters that could be commercial. When dealing with business law,
the law is often dealing with a business of some sort, like the term name says. Certain problems
you could deal with are businessformation, employment considerations, immigration law, sales of
consumer goods, contract drafting and negotiations, trust and antitrust, intellectual property, taxes,
bankruptcy, and more. Business law also deals with issues that could arise with existing businesses
that interact with customers or the general public. This helps view businesses as entities separate

Laws protect us from discrimination, from threats of other citizens or countries perhaps, and
much more. Business law simply keeps the calm in this country and it would be chaos without
it. According to a quote from one of our past presidents, Theodore Roosevelt, he said, Ours is a
government of liberty, by, through and under the law. No man is above it, and no man is below
it. What he means is that business law sets a foundation for our country and all organized
matters and everything within it. So many people use business law. Business lawyers, attorneys,
judges, prosecutors, anyone who uses law in their hands for a career or for other circumstances.
To use business law in a career that deals with law, you must have a JD degree or something
similar. But if you have a career that isn t professional, like a lawyer, and you re someone like a
police officer, you can use law to help citizens protect themselves and to take down criminals and
felons using the law in a right way. One law that interests me is criminal law. I ve always been
interested in criminal justice and law, and I feel like it would be a great use to me for many
reasons. Not only would it help me take down those who I know personally who need to be
thrown in jail, but it would also help those who are in need to be saved, not to be clichГ©, but

the same scale; nanotechnology is also called molecular manufacturing. Nanotechnology is a result
of the combination of different scientific fields such as physics, biology, engineering chemistry, and

Some of the practical applications of nanotechnology today are to fabricate smaller faster
computer chips for more efficient computers, mobile phones, or navigation systems.
Nanotechnology also brought about the quantum dot laser, which enables faster
communication. Nanotechnology could be utilized by today s society in countless ways and
will revolutionize our lives. The advances in medicine would be mind boggling. Tiny robots
could detect diseases when they ve just barely begun to form, repair injuries more completely
than ever before, and even body parts with new ones. Microscopic cameras and other recording
devices would change the intelligence and security industry by enabling them to watch and
monitor like never before. We would have the luxury of carrying around huge amounts of
information; thousands of music albums and movies on tiny devices that fit in our pocket.
Nanotechnology will totally change our lives. We ll expect much more from the products we
buy expect, for example, a wrench we buy at the hardware store will be 100 times as strong as
steel. Our concept of size will change drastically; the devices we use today will seem large and
clunky. With nanotechnology, we ll expect the devices we use every day to be tiny, light, and
very efficient. If scientists are able to actually make molecular sized machines, we would no
longer have resource problems of any kind. Oil, food, wood, and any other raw materials could be
broken down

Masses of German troops shifted from the east to the west. It became evident that, with Germany
on the rise to power, American intervention was needed on behalf of the Allies. President Wilson
clung to neutrality, but the Bolshevik Revolution but a strain on the American people to intervene
in order to safeguard international democracy. With an estimated six months until British
surrender, the weary Allies waited for aid. America s mobilization for war demanded extreme
sacrifice of the American people; over 7.5 civilians were conscripted into the armed forces,
American factories broke all records for production, monetary aid flowed to the Allies, and
civilian consumption was cut drastically. The overstrained Germans met American troops in
September of 1918; the offensive proved to be more than the Germans could withstand and an

Analysis Of The Love Song Of J Alfred Prufrock
So Maybe It s Not Just An Inferiority Complex.
THESIS: In his poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, T.S. Eliot shows readers that Body
Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) can ruin a man s life and send him into a spiraling pit of anxiety and
depression.
Prufrock s lack of self confidence is actually Body Dysmorphic Disorder, explaining his inability to
see anything but his bald spot and awkward body.
In the room the women come and go / Talking of Michelangelo, (13 14). This is referring to
Michelangelo s David, which portrays an athletic man with strong arms and a beautiful, sculpted
face. Prufrock sees himself as anything but that, so the women talking about this makes him feel
even more self conscious.
With a bald spot in the middle of my hair / (They will say: How his hair is growing thin! ) / My
morning coat, my collar mounting firmly to the chin, / My necktie rich and modest, but
asserted by a simple pin / (They will say: But how his arms and legs are thin! ) (40 44). Prufrock
is obsessed with this bald spot, and it is one of the many things he finds wrong with himself. He
hyper focuses on this very small bodily issue and convinces himself that it s all anyone can see
about him, which is a very common symptom of Body Dysmorphic Disorder.
I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each. / I do not think that they will sing for me. (124
125) Mermaids (sirens) aren t known for being very picky when it comes to luring in and killing
victims, so for Prufrock to insinuate that even they wouldn t be trying to lure him in really shows
how worthless he sees himself as. He sees this bald spot and skinny limbs and thinks he s
absolutely wretched.
Prufrock also has some anxiety which feeds into his BDD.
To lead you to an overwhelming question.... / Oh, do not ask, What is it? (10 11). Here, he
expresses his fear of this question. This unknown problem is a huge source of anxiety for him, and
it comes up multiple times throughout the poem.
And I have known the eyes already, known them all / The eyes that fix you in a formulated
phrase, / And when I am formulated, sprawling on a pin, / When I am pinned and wriggling on the
wall, (55 58). He has this irrational fear of people judging him, likely stemming from

School Is Bad For Children By John Holt
This nation s best and strongest leaders attended school as children. Leaders such as John F.
Kennedy and Franklin D. Roosevelt ( School House to White House ). Can their success as leaders
be attributed to school? Or would they have been successful without that education? School is
where they were inspired and pushed to their limits. The challenges of studying various subjects,
completing homework, forming new ideas, participating in extracurricular activities, and making
friends are part of the common heritage of an American educationshared by everyone including our
Presidents ( School House to White House ). In John Holt s School is Bad for Children Holt
makes a plea to free children from the classroom (Preface). He outlines several ways that America
s education system is harming children and introduces several ways he believes it can be
improved. Although Holt makes a few logical arguments, his essay lacks credibility and his ideas
to abolish school attendance, to always have paired learning, and to end fixed curriculum (leave
much to be argued)
Holt makes several assumptions and talks of schools that do certain things but he never uses
evidence to back up what he says. This makes his essay less credible because it is only written
from his experiences and his opinion. Holt says, In a school I know of... (Holt 75), ... a number of
schools... (Holt 75), and In many schools... he can t even talk to them at lunch (Holt 73). Who are
these schools? How do we know if

Alexander The Great s Large Accomplishments
Alexander the Great s large accomplishments in the third century BC changed the landscape of
Afro Eurasia in ancient times, and arguably through modern day. With the growth of his empire
came the spread of Hellenistic culture throughout the lands he conquered. From the
Mediterranean to Asia to the Middle East he helped expand trade routes and most of all the
spread of ideas in religion, politics, and culture. One of the larger aspects of this spread of
culture from Alexander was the expansion of the Greeks language across Afro Eurasia. As he
conquered the lands the Greek language quickly became used by the people he took over,
especially in trade systems and political structures that arose. The newly grown Empire basked in
the benefit of a common language, now allowing traders and merchants to understand each other
even through the mixed backgrounds. ADD SOMETHING ABOUT THE POLITICAL SYSTEM
BENIFITTING FROM THE LAUGUAGE. The common language also introduced people to
Greek art, drama, and philosophy. Schools were built all around to teach the citizens of Greek
philosophical ideas such as Epicureanism and Stoicism. The culture and political environment
created by Alexander s Empire made the competition of Greek city states almost obsolete. This
competition being gone helped to create a mentality more focused on being part of a vast Empire,
rather than being the citizen of a certain city state which had till this time been a predominate part
of Greek culture and politics.

Gary Soto Gary Soto is an author of many novels, short stories, and poetry. He was born and raised
in the U.S. by his Mexican American family. In his writings, he creates characters and settings
influenced or surrounded by cultures and ideas similar to those he grew up and lived with. He
includes common characteristics of the Mexican American people that he became familiar with
growing up. Growing up Soto s life at home wasn t ideal and he never had high hopes for it. Soto s
family was Mexican American so he was born into a Chicano culture. Every one of their jobs, even

Soto is the poet of the Chicano experience, but his view of that people is not hopeful. He shows
their condition to be one of hard work with few rewards. (Sullivan). Most Mexican Americans
had laborious jobs. Soto s father and grandfather both worked blue collar jobs and he thought he
would be doomed to the same life. In one of his essays, Gary Soto writes that as a child, he had
imagined he would marry Mexican poor, work Mexican hours, and in the end die a Mexican
death, broke and in despair. (Lee). Here he describes Mexican life as an undesirable one. The
despair he came to know as a child shows up a lot in his work as seen in his short story Sorry,
Wrong Family . The main character, Carolina finds the world an unpleasant place to live. The
world, she realized, was a sad place when from a few feet away trash could fool someone who
walked in beauty. (Soto 41). This line from the story describes the moment where after asking
for help she receives a small amount of hope, but puts herself back down rather quickly. Soto s
view of these people comes from his own experiences. Recently, Soto attended his junior high
school reunion, and he was disheartened to learn how many of his childhood friends had ended
up in prison or been killed. (Lee). The world he grew up in painted the Chicano life as a lesser one.

The Bhagavad Gita
The Bhagavad Gita has a few themes that are rigorously repeated throughout the narration. Arjuna
is pained with the task of deciding whether or not he should kill his family and friends. He
consults in his close friend Krishna to decide what he should do and Krishna delivers many life
lessons. Krishna specifically discusses dharma, karma, and how to obtain liberation from samsara.
Krishnais a powerful god and confidant to Arjunaduring a time of war and chaos. Arjuna, however,
does not seem to realize how powerful Krishna truly is. Krishna explains that he is everything in the
universe. He is the sky, earth, animals, and plants. He created everything and a part of him is in
every surrounding. Krishna states, I am the beginning, the middle,... Show more content on

When Arjuna confides in Krishan that he does not think he can fight against his family and
friends, Krishna tells him that it is his duty to participate in the war against evil in order to
restore balance in the universe. Krishna illustrates how everyone has a duty that they must
complete. He demands Arjuna to look to your own duty; do not tremble before it (Gita, 34).
Krishna repeats this importance of dharma because it is needed to balance the karma in people s
lives. Obtaining a respectable balance in life and working off karma can eventually lead to a soul
s release from the samsara cycle. Krishna spends a significant amount of time in the Bhagavad Gita
explaining how a person may be released from the continuous cycle of death and rebirth. He tells
Arjuna that someone must be selfless and detached from the material world in order to obtain
complete liberation. They must also ignore their own egos and focus on the divine instead. Krishna
declares that men who always follow my thought, trusting it without finding fault, are freed even by
their actions (Gita, 45). People must find God in all of their actions and turn this into a way of

OD in the movie Hoosiers
Organizational Change
Professor R. Conejo
October 19, 2010 OD in the movie Hoosiers The movie Hoosiers was a great story that dealt with
many of the topics covered in our readings for the week. The story is about a small town Indiana
basketball team that overcomes many challenges to win the state championship. The main character
of the movie is Norman Dale, a passionate basketball coach that faces many obstacles in his attempt
to teach his players about the benefits of working together as a team. The movie dealt with many
team oriented topics such as team development, interdependence, group cohesiveness, intergroup
problems, and confrontation. The movie begins with Dale making his way to the ... Show more

After confronting her he explained his position and over time eventually gained her respect. He did
the same with the townspeople, attending their meetings to confront them and to defend his
methods.
The movie Hoosiers was a great example of how success can be found through teamwork and
cohesiveness. Many of the lessons that are found within the movie directly relate to the lesson we
learned in our readings for the week. The importance of each and every member of the team and
the realization that no one member is more important than the next is a valuable lesson to be
learned from the movie. Another important lesson to be learned from the movie is that while the
results of a change may not be immediately noticed, believing in each other and in the team can be
beneficial in the long run. Changes may not always have immediate results that are favorable, but
sticking with the planned change and having each team member fully committed to it can be
beneficial in the long run. Not only will the performance of the team improve, but the performance
of each individual member of that team will improve as well.

The Demography Of Aging Population In China
Demography of aging
In 2017, the world population is at 7.5 billion people. China is the most populated country in
whole world. It has 1.379 billion (Google) people making it the largest populated country. China is
also the most largest aging population making it have a high life expectancy and the high
accelerating aging rate in the world (Zheng, 2012). China has advanced with technology and also
with age. Only three decades ago, only 5 percent of the populations was over 65; today, 123
million people, or 9 percent of the population, are over this age which a report released by the
government states that China will be the world s most aged society in 2030 (Huang, 2013).
Since, China is the most largest aging population this means that less people are dying and more
are living. Since, more people are living this means that need of long term care, health insurance,
adjustment of policies and how to make everyone comfortable living. China is the only country
that has an older population exceeding 100 million and annually increases at a rate of 3.2. A
dependent territory of China is Hong kong that has 7.347 million people (Google). Hong kong also
has a fast growing aged population. Hong kong is also trying to adjust their long term care system,
pensions system and policies to accommodate everyone living situation.
`The aging population creates a demographic shift. Since, China has a high aging population it has
affected China culturally, socially and family. Families most important social support is family
and the kin system that helps functioned family roles. As aging increases, fertility decreases due to
families looking for more work and to live their lives doing other things rather than having babies.
It will have a dramatic demographic transition in twenty years. Growing old before affluent. Birth
control has also helped with lowering the birth rate. The demographic structure has also changed. In
1950 it held a perfect pyramid but as time goes on it shows how the youth became a shrinking
population. One strategic solution is the one child policy which helps balance out the rapidly
growing population and to help stimulate development. It restricts family size which help the aging

Summary Of Warrior Ethos
According to the author, Shannon E. French, it s important for troops to learn the true meaning
of a warrior ethos in order for them to differentiate themselves between a warrior and a murder in
order to ensure that they can return back home with self respect rather than guilt. Learning the
true meaning of a warrior s ethos is important because it sets definite limits on what a solder can
and cannot do in order to remain a warrior and not become a warrior during war. A warrior s ethos,
according to French, consists of militaryvalues and only they can set themselves aside from
murders by accepting a set of rules governing when and how to kill and should a solder/warrior not

was that in this new modern era, it has become hard for solders/warriors to keep in touch with
the reality due to the new technology which is making it easier for solders/warriors to vanish

I believe in Heaven and Hell. In this sense I believe that we live two lives, one on earth and one
in eternity. I do not that we are reborn again and again. I also believe the life we live on earth
determines the life we will live in eternity. It makes no sense that previously mentioned
inherently evil people and people with good hearts would have the same fate. However, just as
with my view of the ultimate, I take issue with the religious side of Heaven and Hell. It is
incomprehensible to me that a good person would have an eternity in hell for believing in a
different god, loving someone of the same sex, or some similar deed that the Bible has claimed
is worthy of Hell. In my opinion, if you live a good life, you are deserving of a good eternity.
Socrates believed that we should not be afraid of death, as we don t know what it entails; it
could be the greatest thing that happens to us. I definitely agree with this statement. Death has
never been something I feared. Heaven is promised to be a paradise free from any pain or
suffering in this world, essentially Heaven is promised to be the greatest thing that could ever
happen to you. However, there is still a great amount of unknown that accompanies death. In
some ways I both agree and disagree with the Hindu beliefs on death as well. I suppose Heaven can
be viewed as a reincarnation of sorts, however I believe this is the only rebirth of the soul. Whereas

Madame Defarge Quotes
Madame DeFarge as a Lioness Madame Defarge, a very important character is Charles Dicken s

The Jewelry, By Guy De Maupassant And O Connor
When contemplating whether a work of literature is worth reading, most readers look at the
back cover of the book to read a short summary. Some critics look for tone and interesting plot
twists, but the common reader looks for a purpose or lesson. Sure, powerful words and phrases
contribute, but without the anticipation that one will gain knowledge from the story, it will be
put right back on the bookshelf. Long novels with a back cover have hundreds of pages to reveal
themes. However, short stories do not have nearly as much time to display a theme. In Guy de
Maupassant s The Jewelry, the main character, Lantin sees and experiences change through his
life after his wife passes away. In Flannery O Connor s A Good Man is Hard to find, the
grandmother s actions cost an entire family s life. Both stories contains a similar theme but in
different ways. Despite their short time frames, Maupassant and O Connor both reveal a similar
didactic medium nobody is perfect. Maupassant s short storybegins with a description of a young
girl who represents the perfect woman. Her gentle nature and manners attracted all of the men in
the story. However, in The Jewelry , he states that ...she got into the habit of suspending in her
pretty ears two big cut pebbles, fashioned in imitation of diamonds... (Maupassant 52). When first

What is Cholesterol
Are you now confused you by his/her talking about good and bad cholesterol, HDL cholesterol and
LDL cholesterol? Then fear not. You are certainly not alone.
Numerous times I have been approached in my practice by individuals asking me, What is
cholesterol? or What is HDL and LDL cholesterol all about?
To my amazement, many are under the impression that cholesterol is bad but it is not as simple as
that. Not all cholesterols are made equal. Not all cholesterol is bad.
What is Cholesterol?
РЎholesterol is an important substance created by our bodies in order to optimize our well being.
While the body is able to create this substance, we also receive cholesterol from some of the foods
that we elect to consume.
Generally, cholesterol is beneficial to the health. This is referred to as Good Cholesterol .
Then, there is a type of cholesterol that is referred to as Bad Cholesterol and may impact our health
in a negative manner. The good type of cholesterol is called HDL Cholesterol and the bad type is
referred to as LDL Cholesterol .
I feel it is important for everyone to understand what is cholesterol and the impact that it has on the

Mental Healthcare in America
Mental Health Care and the American Social System
American history is littered with tails of reform and revolution. Earlier on in America s young life,
revolution included war, struggle for basic human rights and dignity as well as radical tactics taken
by the public. As time went on Americans learned that revolution and reform could occur through
the government systems that our forefathers had put in place. The battle for human rights has all
but ended but the way in which Americans wage war is a different story altogether. Now American
s fight for better public healthcare, equal rights for homosexual individuals and couples, and stricter
standards for social welfare programs.

With her endless efforts, Dorothea Dix succeeded in helping create a congressional bill regarding
the government s role in mental health care. Unfortunately after the bill had been passed by both
houses, President Franklin Pierce vetoed the proposal. Even though Ms. Dix did not see the bill
she created become law, she did manage to create 32 hospitals for the mentally ill and
approximately 15 schools for the mentally handicapped and blind (Marshall, 1937). Dorothea also
helped establish several training facilities for nurses and established libraries in numerous prisons
across the nation. Though Dorothea Dix was considered to be ahead of her time, the efforts she
made and her accomplishments were key in establishing a better mental health care system in
America.
Another great advocate for the mentally ill in America was a man named Clifford Beers. This Yale
graduate and business man was subjected, firsthand, to the torturous treatment utilized by metal
health care facilities in America when he suffered a psychological breakdown in 1900. After years

Education And Social Economic Reward
We have all heard the expression that education is the key to success. . It makes sense, right? The
more education you have, the more successful you will be. In some ways that is true. The
education we get prepares us for our future and our future outcomes. After all, there is a direct
correlation between educationand social economic reward and that people with high education
usually live happier, healthier, and wealthier lives. Those individuals who obtain higher education
and the skills that they learn will later lead the individual to work in high status and high paying
jobs. We assume that they make an astonishing amount of money and everyone lives happily
ever after right? In our world today the American Dream is lost, is just that, a dream. We are
taught that if you play by the rules, work hard, apply yourself and do well in school and that will
open doors for you, and you will be successful and all that other crap we are told in school , TV,
news, radio and practically everywhere else. Although everyone deserves the right to education and
the key to success the truth of the matter is that education inequalities exist and not everyone is
getting the same level of education or the same opportunities either. The group in America that
obtains the best education is the upper class while the lower class students are left with lower odds
of education.
One major roadblock in your dreams for success and education is what sociologists know as the
conflict theory. Karl

Fiscal Policy And Fiscal Policies
Fiscal Policy
Generally fiscal policy is the set of strategies that government implements or plans to use with
certain activities such as the collection of revenues and taxes and expenditure that can influence the
overall economic condition of the nation. A well written or planned fiscal policy can lead the nation
to the steady path of the strong economy, increase employment and also maintains healthy inflation.
Every country needs fiscal policy as fiscal policy plays a vital role on monitoring the pattern of the
flow of nation s expenditure to the economy and also the nation s revenue generated from the
economy. It also helps to stimulate the economic growth during the period of economic recession.
The main aim of the fiscal policy is to maintain a steady fiscal growth with respect to both higher
and lower economic cycle. There is an intimate relationship between fiscal and monetary policy
though these both entities are conducted for different purposes. These are basically not the
alternative but the complement to each other. Fiscal policy always supports monetary policy
during the time of recession such as Global Financial Crisis of 2008.Many countries enacted lots
of stimulus plans related to fiscal policy in order to cope with the Global Financial Crisis of
2008. Among those India also adopted many different new techniques of fiscal policy in order to
survive during the Global Financial Crisis of 2008.

Cost Volume Profit Analysis, Cost, Volume, And Profit
Introduction Economic models which measure changes in costs and revenues as the volume of
activity increase can be complex. However, for the purpose of managerial decision making it is
possible to simplify these models in a way that makes them easy to use and therefore more readily
useful to the average manager. In this case, cost volume profit analysis is simple, with its
assumption of output as the only revenue and cost driver, and linear revenue and cost relationships.
it provides minimum values in more complex decision making cases. Cost volume profit analysis
examines the relationships between changes in activity and changes in total sales revenue, cost and

Moreover, break even point is useful, simply why firm are making profit. Once the break even
units or break even revenue is achieved, then the process is openly acceptable. Finally,
assumptions, such as sales units are the only cause for cost and revenue changes, linear graph line
can be shown when revenue and costs are used, and then single product or service would be
analyzed. The strength of CVP lies in the way that it removes many of the complications of the
real world in order to provide a sharp focus on the financial impact of decisions. This makes the
CVP both simple to apply and easy to understand. In the year of 2001, Yunker, J. (2001) have
declared that CVP analysis can not only be used in certain practical decision situations but also
provide a conceptual bridge between the accounting and finance literature on CVP analysis under
uncertainly and the economic literature on decision making under uncertainty. This shows that
CVP is both simple and simplistic. What s more, Ojugo, C. (2009) said that knowing the
relationship among cost, volume and profit, or CVP is the most powerful tool and easiest way to
make a better decision. It shows the volume of sales required to break even and generate profit, the
proper price of the menu is related to the cost of sales. Additionally, Eldneburg Wolcott (2004, p.89)

An Analysis Of Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants...

psychological underplay afoot between his two characters. It begins with the girl s comment about

with the commentI ve never seen one.
The symbolism of a white elephant is widely known as something very large or apparent that no
one wishes to acknowledge or speak of in American society. It is an interesting opening to a very
strained conversation concerning an apparent pregnancy, and the man s wish to terminate it. The

translates as grievous in the English language.
The man s response to her bitterness is one of irritation and he snaps at her, whereupon she

referring , most likely, to his distracted attitude. It seems likely she is accustomed to him
complimenting her for her intelligence and wit, which is now not happening due to his worry over
her pregnancy. He again placates her, this time by agreeing the metaphor was a bright comparison.
When she softens her reference to the hill with an explanation, he makes small talk for a moment,
then launches into his campaign to convince her of the banality of an abortion. At this point,
Hemingway inserts her name, which suggests empathy for the girl s position. By giving her a

Aeneid is in part acknowledges Augustus as being key to the Golden Age after Caesar s
assassination (2).The 19 year old grand nephew/adopted son was Caesar s heir and eventually he
defeated Cleo and Antony at Actium in 31 bc (3). In this Euphoria Virgil took to writing patriotic
poems such as The Aeneid (4). After a century of civil war, Augustus victory promises a return of
order, prosperity and peace to Rome.
Augustus ignored Virgil s instruction to burn The Aeneid after his death in 19 BC. This indicates
that Virgil wrote in favour of his patron, ruler of Rome and is hostile towards Antony due to this

violence of civil war.

Sisyphus Deception
Albert Camus, a French philosopher who tries to decipher a meaningful world through the trails
and tribulation of life. His piece, The Myth of Sisyphus can be interpreted that the essay represents
man s struggle to belong, an endless journey to achieve, and a glimpse of his own fate. Sisyphus is
the absurd hero. He is, as much through his passions as through his torture . (Camus, The Myth of
Sisyphus)
There is scarcely any person without struggle. (Camus, The Myth of Sisyphus) Sisyphus is a
devious mortal creature who is willing to betray his fellow man. Having minimal respect for his
gods, Sisyphus has a willingness to deceive in order to receive what he wants. Sisyphus has a
profession as a highwayman, where he lays his own path in life, often finding hardship and wanting
to have what others ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just as Sisyphus deceived his own wife, man deceives man. Somehow, man can look past his
deception and justify it with the thought process that their deception has not hurt anyone. There is a
multitude of scenarios in which I find myself like Sisyphus but it is the one man who changes those
patterns. It is the one man who finds himself, moving away from the norm and what society
portrays as truth. When that man emerges, it is difficult but courageous. It is a meaningful
transformation that will assist in helping others find who they were meant to be.
There is no fate that can not be surmounted by scorn. (Camus, The Myth Of Sisyphus) Having a
glimpse of your own fate is for those who choose to continue the struggle of the uphill climb and the
repetitive fall, and untrustworthy happiness. They will always be tormented as Sisyphus was,
because they will always be searching for something they can t find. The lack of fulfillment will
devastate them spiritually, emotionally and mentally. The stability of man will falter and the

The Arab Spring And The Middle East And North Africa
The Arab Spring is the revolutionary wave of protests and demonstrations in the Arab World, in
both the Middle East and North Africa. These waves and protests were done both in peace and
violence, and up to this day with the exception of Tunisia there is no clear sign if the Arab Spring
is successful or not. The Arab Spring were caused by many different factors, differing from the way
the Arab world was split in the end of the Cold War disregarding the different factions in the region,
to the injustice in government, coincidentally, resulting the war all to seemingly happen
simultaneously.
The Arab Spring sparked at the end of 2010 to much of 2011 and overflowing to the beginning of
2012. It all ignited quite literally in an incident in Tunisia when a policewoman harrases, confiscates
his cart and spits on Mohamed Bouazizi. Fed up with the way his country is being run and hopeless
he sets himself on fire, his actions then caused commotions and protest throughout his country
(Telegraph). Due to this anti government uprisings Maummar al Gaddafi and the rulers at the
country at the time fled as revolts took place. After Tunisia numerous other states took part in the
Arab Spring, revolting and protesting to overthrow their respective Authoritarian and Dictatorship
regimes. The list of countries include: Libya, Egypt, Yemen, Syria, Bahrain, Algeria, Jordan, and
Oman. In Libya on 11 February, 2011 the people organized an anti government demonstration
spread to Tripoli and

Mickey Mouse
MICKEY MOUSE, Walt Disney s most famous character, made his screen debut on November 18,
1928, as star of the first sound cartoon, Steamboat Willie. Since his debut, Mickey Mouse has
become an international personality whose success laid the financial foundation upon which Walt
Disney built his creative organization. Besides being the personification of everything Disney,
Mickey Mousehas become one of the most universal symbols of the Twentieth Century.
Mickey Mouse was born in Walt Disneys imagination early in 1928 on a train ride from New
York to Los Angeles. Walt was returning with his wife from a business meeting at which his
cartoon creation, Oswald the Rabbit, had been wrestled from him by his financial backers. Only 26

The artistic success of the animators was honored in 1932 when an Oscar was presented to Walt
Disney for the creation of Mickey Mouse. Mickey Mouse s popularity spawned a Mickey Mouse
Club in 1929 which met every Saturday for an afternoon of cartoons and games in local theaters.
The several million Mouse Clubbers had a secret handshake, special member greeting, code of
behavior, and even a special club song, Minnie s Yoo Hoo . The peak of Mickey Mouse s golden
decade was his starring role as the Sorcerer s Apprentice in the feature Fantasia (1940), a major
artistic innovation. It interpreted music in colors, shapes, movement, and story. The animation
techniques were years ahead of their time and have never been matched. Fantasia also introduced
stereophonic sound to theaters, an element not employed by other studios until more than a decade
later.
With the advent of World War II, the Disney Studio suspended nearly all commercial activity and
concentrated on aiding the war effort with training films, goodwill tours, and designing of posters
and armed forces insignia. Mickey Mouse played his part by appearing on insignia and posters
urging national security and the purchase of war bonds. And, incredibly, the password of the

The Importance Of Freedom In America
Freedom meant multiple things for the people who had endured and survived enslavement in
America. Freedom meant education, being with family, church organizing, voting, and equal
rights as white people. Former slaves informed slave owners that their devotion and loyalty
never reflected their true feelings. As slavery ended families were able to reunite. Freedom also
meant land. Special field order #15 was issued on January 16, 1865 by General William T.
Sherman. A 30 mile tract of land was set aside by the military directive, this land was along the
Atlantic coast from Charleston, South Carolina, 245 miles south to Jacksonville, Florida.
Sherman reserved this land for black families as white owners just abandoned the land. The Port
Royal Experiment was an effort by northern white missionaries, educators, and businessmen in the
Sea Islands near Beaufort, South Carolina, to transform former slaves into educated, reliable and
industrious wage earners. Congress established the Bureau of Refugees, Freedman, and
Abandoned Lands in February 1865 to assist black and white Southerners left destitute by the
Civil War. The South Homestead Act was passed by Congress in 1866, this set aside over three
million acres of land for former slaves and loyal white Southerners to farm following the Civil War.
In 1866 bureau officials tried to force freedmen to sign labor contracts with white landowners. Black
men who refused to sign could be arrested. The most important institution among

Rule of Law and Separation of Powers
Government under the law and the protection of rights and freedom are twin pillars of the rule of
law. Without the separation of powers, neither of these principles would be realized.
Governments perform three functions namely executive, judicial and legislative functions. The role
of separation of powers involves the diffusion rather than concentration of powers within the state.
Thus, these branches should be separate, unique and equal. The underlying principle of the
separation of powers is that individuals have the potential to harm others, and this can become a
reality when power is concentrated in one person, faction, or institution. However, if the branches
were completely separate it would be unworkable since Parliament is ... Show more content on

In combining the three in separate institutions (the Commons, Lords, and Crown respectively), the
English constitution provides all that is necessary for good government.
AV Dicey s view on the rule of law cannot be ignored because of the lasting influence he has had.
Dicey s views were derived from his understanding of the nature of democracy in UK as unitary
and self correcting in which the will of the people are expressed through Parliament, and in which
Parliament controlled the government. In setting out the rule of law, Dicey considered three
distinct elements. No punishment may be inflicted on anyone other than for a breach of the law;
irrespective of rank and status, all men are equal under the law; and the rights and freedom of
citizen are best protected under the common law.
The rule of law represents a challenge to State authority and power, demanding both that power be
granted legitimately and that their exercise is according to law. The law is not autonomous but
rests on the support of those it governs. Whilst the rule of law places law above everyone, it
remains paradoxically subjected to the ultimate judgment of the people. The rule of law is
considered the most fundamental doctrines of the constitution of UK. The constitution is said to be
founded on the idea of the rule of law.
The UK does have a kind of

Essay On Halloween
Trick or Treat: The Origins of Halloween If Americans were asked to give examples of holidays,
they would most likely mention the Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas. These
specific dates, known as calendar customs, are traditional practices that have become incorporated
into culture due to social pressure, common usage, and parental or other authority (Brunvand 406).
Each holiday has rich, historical roots, and many of the customs associated with them have been
transmitted over several generations. In addition, most contemporary holiday customs vary
dramatically from the date s original purpose. In the case of Halloween, the commercialization of
candy and costumes has contributed to a more family oriented atmosphere compared to the initial
auspicious and superstitious beliefs surrounding this day. Despite its alterations throughout the
years due to cultural and religious reasons, Halloween still remains a prominent influence in
popular culture that will continue to thrive for generations to come. Halloween s inception began
over two thousand year ago. This holiday is believed to be synonymous with Samhain, an ancient
Celtic festival held on October 31st that signified the onset of winter. Samhain had religious
importance as a pagan festival, and the Celtic people often sacrificed food and animals to appease
the gods. The Celts considered this time to be rife with magic and the prime period for war and
sorcery. According to one online source, It was

American film industry. The directors who made the most impact during this time period were
no other than Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas, John Milius, Brian De Palma, Steven
Spielberg, Paul Schrader. Now will we only look into these three directors Francis Ford Coppola,
George Lucas and also the great Steven Spielberg. All of these directors have created some of the

The films he created allowed the new generation of movie goers to have their own movie, that
everyone could relate too. Tying into the backbone of the American New Wave movement which
was the realism within the films. The editing use within Star Wars was uncommon for films to
incorporate the use of computers models, the use of the computer aided effects started to effect
other films in the making, allowing them to add more to the story and attract the new age of the
audience. Also lets take into account that Lucas was not only a one film director, he also had created
the Indiana Jones series, another blockbuster film. Some on the trademarks used by Lucas in
Star Wars and Indiana Jones are still used today within other films, some examples of Lucas s
trademarks are his use of battle scenes by a large pit, visual effects, and also the use of soft edge
wipes as transitions. In addition, everything Lucas was doing was to get the new generation of
movie attenders to come and see the new film in the theaters. As a parallel too today, movies are
coming out every week, each one different from the other, but if you look closely at each of the
movies the use of visual effects within the movies have stayed the same, from having half of New

War Essay
Weird silence filled the air. It was a cold and relatively peaceful night on January 2005. Almost
all citizens hid in their rooms to protect themselves from the war. The sky was completely dark
with no light on streets. All of a sudden, the dark silent night was put to an end as six year old
Samar Hassan was screaming and crying. A car was approaching in the dark when several
American soldiers were patrolling a main road of northern Iraqs Tal Afarwhich was a town rife with
insurgents. Concerning that the vehicle might carry insurgents and suicide bombs, the soldiers
began to flash lights and waved arms to indicate the car to stop. However, the Hassansdidn t see the

Thousands of Iraqis suffer from the pain and trauma caused by the war, but the story of Samar
again stands out. Rakan, Samar s brother, was hit by a bullet in his spin which was the most
vulnerable part of our body. He was seriously wounded in the tragedy, and he was sent to Boston for
treatment after Hondros s photos were published. Although Rakan was fortunate enough to survive
from the tragedy, he was again haunted by death. Rakan died three years after their parents s death
when an insurgent attack badly bombing the house where they live in.

long time. It was a normal night dinner was served at 6:30, everyone took their own seat except
there was a weird silence during dinner. No one would like to talk but have dinner quietly. I
knew that my older sister cried when she said goodbye to us at the airport. It was her and also
mine fist time being apart from each other in 17 years. On our way back home, my older sister
texted us to read the letter that she hid in the car. I didn t read the letter until I locked my room s
door. In the letter, my sister reminded me that I was the one who should take care of both my
parent and little brother now. Also, she told me that she trusted me I could do it and she would

The Hockey Sweater Essay
The Quebec Vexation
The French speaking people of Quebec lived under heavy oppression in the 1950s and 60s.
Many francophone people looking for work in Quebec cities were refused because of their French
background. In areas such as Montreal, the francophone people were earning up to 50 percent less
than their English speaking peers. There was a clear distinction between the quality of life for the
English and the quality of life for the French. It was because of this distinction that the people of
Quebec often resented the English and their ways of life. And it is from this resentment, the story
The Hockey Sweater was written. The Hockey Sweater is a story told from the perspective of a
young boy living in a small town in Quebec. He, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Quebecois found that their cultures were too different to be placed on equal footing with the
other provinces. This frustration with the other provinces eventually led to The Quiet Revolution
and an attempt to separate from the rest of Canada. Up until the end of the 1960s, the French
people of Quebec could be seen living as second rate citizens in Canada. It wasn t until 1969, that
the Official Languages Act was passed by Pierre Elliot Trudeau giving both the English and
French languages equal representation in Canadian parliament. Up until then, most documents
written by the Canadian government and its affiliates were solely in English and did not
recognize French as an official language. In The Hockey Sweater, the character of Mr. Eaton can
be equated to the role of the Canadian government. The order forms provided in the Eaton s
catalogue were completely in English even though they were being shipped to a small French
town in Quebec. This could be seen as the English speaking people of Canada imposing their
language and culture upon Quebec in an almost assimilation like manner. The lack of equality
with regards to the French and English language pre 1969 led to many people of Quebec feeling
subservient to the rest of Canada. The language issue played a vital role in the story of The
Hockey Sweater which led to great turmoil just as it did with Quebec s culture during the

The Effects Of Climate Change On The Planet
The effects of climate change have become more apparent than ever within the last 100 years.
Increasing climates have been proven; with the warmest temperatures in 30 years being recorded
(Houghton, 1994). Suggested cause of this increase is population change, the ever increasing
demand for natural resources to sustain economic growth has resulted in exploitation of
ecological systems at a rate never recorded before. These huge changes to the planet will have a
knock on effect to individual and global ecosystems resulting in varying levels of positive
feedback. Throughout this essay I will be discussing on various ways climate changeeffects the
ecology of the planet.

Evidence such as the rising of sea level by 17cm in the last century or the 150 250km3 loss of
Greenland ice per year between 2002 2006 (NASA, 2014) proves that climate change is happening
to us currently and the effects are immediate.
The Carbon Cycle consists of the vital components for all animal and plant lives. It is primarily
a reflection on primary and secondary production (Krebs, 2009). As seen in Figure 2, carbon
levels have not been constant throughout history. Figure 3 represents the basic components of
the Carbon cycle. The diagram shows that the oceans are the largest sink of carbon, and is at a
constant equilibrium of atmospheric CO2 and aqueous CO2. The increase in atmospheric CO2
levels causes ocean acidification by decreasing the pH of the oceans. PH values are said to have
dropped by 0.1pH units since pre industrial levels and are expected to drop a further 0.3 units by
the end of the 20th century (Scott C Doney, 2007). This chemical change will have knock on
affects in many marine ecosystems, which will be discussed later.
However, there are positive results of the rapid increase of CO2 in relation to plants a; CO2
enrichment will no longer be a limiting factor of photosynthesis. Evidence of this is results from

For over a year now, I work at Panera Bread. We are always hiring new staff throughout spring and summer. People come and go for stealing food or not treating customers with respect. Until recently, one of my managers experienced embezzlement. My manager is sending her child off to college and taking care of the rest of her family, which is a big expense. Someone apart of our staff stole three hundred dollars from her purse. She lost her whole paycheck that she had earned. Everyone was not sure who to trust or rely on anymore. No one was honest and confessed they did it. I doubted the integrity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. East of Eden vs the Kite Runner The desire for love and the need for acceptance can create more than a feeling of rejection. In East of Eden and The Kite Runner, many characters find the task of love daunting and insufficient to their expectations. Love presents itself in every aspect of both novels and therefore is a major theme. Whether it was lovefrom family or lovers, both novels explore the idea of unrequited love and its consequences on the characters lifelong journeys. The theme of love is a major underlying cause of many problems within East of Eden for it creates a feeling of rejection by family and lovers. The idea that love is blind becomes the center of revolution for the feelings between Adam Trask and his wife, Cathy. Steinbeck explores the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Amir questions what would have happened had he not as a child lied monstrously about Hassan which resulted in Hassan and Ali leaving the service of Baba (Graves 1). These feelings of inadequacy arose when Amir overheard his father say I d never believe he s my son (Hosseini 23). Amir and Caleb both indirectly caused the death of their brothers because of their jealousy. Both believed the other sibling was loved more, when all actuality the only reason it seemed this way is because there was more in common between Adam and Aron and Baba and Hassan which led to a stronger bond but not greater love. Finally, Steinbeck and Hosseini both include the trials and tribulations of childhood and its affects on the boys later lives. In East of Eden, the difference between Aron and Caleb was the same as the opposites of good and evil, strength and weakness, love and hate, beauty and ugliness (Aubrey 1). Aron was all that symbolized angelic whereas Caleb was everything you would find evil. Caleb would tease and purposefully hurt Aron out of pure joy in his actions, nothing could hurt him, and nothing could stop him (Steinbeck 335). In the end, Caleb tries to compare himself to the ... • 5. Scene Analysis of Chicken Run Essay Scene Analysis of Chicken Run This essay will analyse three key scenes from the film Chicken Run. It will look at the characters that are good and bad. In particular Ginger, the chicken who has the idea to escape from the chicken farm on which they stay, and Mrs. Tweedy the owner of the chicken farm. After many failed escape attempts the chickens are low on morale until a flying rooster from the circus come to their rescue. But not everything runs smoothly and rocky the rooster can be suspected of fowl play. The first scene I am analysing is at the beginning where Ginger is escaping through a hole under the fence. We only see Ginger as a silhouette until we see a close up of a big orange ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also Mrs. Tweedy has a very sniggering tone of voice that just adds to the evil and sinister character being quickly built up in the space of five seconds. The use of dark and shadows in the scene really helps us with the idea of who is good and who is bad. In this scene the lighting is particularly harsh as Mrs. Tweedy is backlit in an unfriendly and somewhat disturbing manor. Her face is in shadow that gives off a very negative vibe to her as a person. The costume in this scene is very simple; Ginger simply wears a green knitted hat possibly, knitted by Babs. Where as Mrs. Tweedy s clothing is quite contradictive as she is dressed in a pink dressing gown and a pink frilly nightdress. Her face is in shadow so she looks garish and very cold hearted. In this first scene we are quickly led to the assumption that Mrs. Tweedy is the boss and the chickens are small and unimportant. We get a good guide as to who is a good character and who is a bad character. I n the second scene I am analysing is where Mrs. Tweedy is patrolling up and down the lines of chickens who are stood arranged in whet can only be described as military style rows. Many are stood quaking on the spot scared witless . The different styles of cinematography in this key scene really help the audience to see the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Symbolism In The Mockingbird Symbolism of the Mockingbird Mockingbirds don t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy they don t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us that is why it is a sin to kill a Mockingbird Harper Lee Mockingbirds are only here to sing their songs and to bring us joy. A Blue Jay is someone or something that preys on the week. Mockingbirds have to be shielded from the Blue Jays. Although Mockingbirds don t always need to be protected they do have to be protected from Blue Jays because they are gentle creatures whereas the Blue Jay is territorial and corrupt. Mockingbirds are only here to sing their songs and to bring us joy. A Mockingbird is innocent, without fault and only here to help. To kill a Mockingbird is a sin. (119) This is because a Mockingbird is an animal that doesn t cause harm and has proved to only have a pure heart. Tom Robinson is the predominant Mockingbird. Tom s death was like the senseless killing of songbirds. (241) Since another word for mockingbird is a songbird, this quote is telling us that Tom is like a Mockingbird and that his death wasn t supposed to happen. The unexpected Mockingbird is Boo Radley. Atticus looked like he needed cheering up I ran to him and said yes sir, I understand Mr. Tate was right he looked at me and said what do you mean well it d sort of be like shooting a Mockingbird. (318) Clearly Scout is saying that if Maycome were to find out that Boo killed Bob it would probably kill him because Boo delights in being alone. Tom Robinson and Boo Radley are the representation of the Mockingbird. A Blue Jay is someone or something that preys on the week. Blue jays are territorial creatures who destroy the gardens of people who live around them. In our courts, when it s a white man s word against a black man s, the white man always wins. They re ugly, but those are the facts of life. (221) Fearlessly Atticus is talking to Jem about the white man or Bob Ewell. Since Atticus is defending Tom and is going against the Ewells in court Bob Ewell is targeting Atticus and his family. Bob Ewell is the most recognizable Blue jay. They have been the disgrace of Maycomb for three generations. (30) Sternly Atticus is saying that the Ewells are not good people or at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Positive Impacts Of Community Development In South Africa Community development around the world is being practised by various entities, addressing various socio economic issues that are unique to different communities worldwide. According to Bhattacharyya (2004), community development initiatives are dominant in democratic countries. There are various initiatives that have led to significant shifts in the wellbeing of communities using different developmenttools to develop communities around the world. South African, which is a democratic country has one of the highest income gabs in the world. The country s income difference is evident in many townships/rural areas around the country s underdeveloped communities. The positive impact of community development may be seen in the fields of public health, micro macro development, food and violence (Bhattacharyya, 2004). Community development is multi faceted. Bhattacharyya (2004) argues that community development is not a distinct field and that not everything that is being done by developers to improve communities should not be regarded as community development. Bhattacharyya (2004) states that it should only be regarded as community development if the improvement pursues solidarity and agency which can be achieved through adhering to the principles of self help, felt needs and participation. In previous community development research, Bhattacharyya (2004) finds that locality has been used as a proxy for community development. He argues that it is becoming analytically irrelevant ... • 12. Analysis Of The Love Song Of J Alfred Prufrock So Maybe It s Not Just An Inferiority Complex. THESIS: In his poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, T.S. Eliot shows readers that Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) can ruin a man s life and send him into a spiraling pit of anxiety and depression. Prufrock s lack of self confidence is actually Body Dysmorphic Disorder, explaining his inability to see anything but his bald spot and awkward body. In the room the women come and go / Talking of Michelangelo, (13 14). This is referring to Michelangelo s David, which portrays an athletic man with strong arms and a beautiful, sculpted face. Prufrock sees himself as anything but that, so the women talking about this makes him feel even more self conscious. With a bald spot in the middle of my hair / (They will say: How his hair is growing thin! ) / My morning coat, my collar mounting firmly to the chin, / My necktie rich and modest, but asserted by a simple pin / (They will say: But how his arms and legs are thin! ) (40 44). Prufrock is obsessed with this bald spot, and it is one of the many things he finds wrong with himself. He hyper focuses on this very small bodily issue and convinces himself that it s all anyone can see about him, which is a very common symptom of Body Dysmorphic Disorder. I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each. / I do not think that they will sing for me. (124 125) Mermaids (sirens) aren t known for being very picky when it comes to luring in and killing victims, so for Prufrock to insinuate that even they wouldn t be trying to lure him in really shows how worthless he sees himself as. He sees this bald spot and skinny limbs and thinks he s absolutely wretched. Prufrock also has some anxiety which feeds into his BDD. To lead you to an overwhelming question.... / Oh, do not ask, What is it? (10 11). Here, he expresses his fear of this question. This unknown problem is a huge source of anxiety for him, and it comes up multiple times throughout the poem. And I have known the eyes already, known them all / The eyes that fix you in a formulated phrase, / And when I am formulated, sprawling on a pin, / When I am pinned and wriggling on the wall, (55 58). School is where they were inspired and pushed to their limits. The challenges of studying various subjects, completing homework, forming new ideas, participating in extracurricular activities, and making friends are part of the common heritage of an American educationshared by everyone including our Presidents ( School House to White House ). In John Holt s School is Bad for Children Holt makes a plea to free children from the classroom (Preface). He outlines several ways that America s education system is harming children and introduces several ways he believes it can be improved. Although Holt makes a few logical arguments, his essay lacks credibility and his ideas to abolish school attendance, to always have paired learning, and to end fixed curriculum (leave much to be argued) Holt makes several assumptions and talks of schools that do certain things but he never uses evidence to back up what he says. This makes his essay less credible because it is only written from his experiences and his opinion. Holt says, In a school I know of... (Holt 75), ... a number of schools... • 16. Alexander The Great s Large Accomplishments Alexander the Great s large accomplishments in the third century BC changed the landscape of Afro Eurasia in ancient times, and arguably through modern day. With the growth of his empire came the spread of Hellenistic culture throughout the lands he conquered. From the Mediterranean to Asia to the Middle East he helped expand trade routes and most of all the spread of ideas in religion, politics, and culture. One of the larger aspects of this spread of culture from Alexander was the expansion of the Greeks language across Afro Eurasia. As he conquered the lands the Greek language quickly became used by the people he took over, especially in trade systems and political structures that arose. The newly grown Empire basked in the benefit of a common language, now allowing traders and merchants to understand each other even through the mixed backgrounds. ADD SOMETHING ABOUT THE POLITICAL SYSTEM BENIFITTING FROM THE LAUGUAGE. The common language also introduced people to Greek art, drama, and philosophy. Schools were built all around to teach the citizens of Greek philosophical ideas such as Epicureanism and Stoicism. The culture and political environment created by Alexander s Empire made the competition of Greek city states almost obsolete. This competition being gone helped to create a mentality more focused on being part of a vast Empire, rather than being the citizen of a certain city state which had till this time been a predominate part of Greek culture and politics. ... In one of his essays, Gary Soto writes that as a child, he had imagined he would marry Mexican poor, work Mexican hours, and in the end die a Mexican death, broke and in despair. (Lee). The main character, Carolina finds the world an unpleasant place to live. The world, she realized, was a sad place when from a few feet away trash could fool someone who walked in beauty. (Soto 41). This line from the story describes the moment where after asking for help she receives a small amount of hope, but puts herself back down rather quickly. Soto s view of these people comes from his own experiences. Recently, Soto attended his junior high school reunion, and he was disheartened to learn how many of his childhood friends had ended up in prison or been killed. (Lee). The world he grew up in painted the Chicano life as a lesser one. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The importance of each and every member of the team and the realization that no one member is more important than the next is a valuable lesson to be learned from the movie. Momaday has said, There are certain villages, and towns mountains and plains that, having seen them, walked in them, lived in them, even for a day, we keep forever in the mind s eye. Just like how Momaday relived his ancestor s trails, I had a chance as well. I was lucky enough to be able to go on such a sacred journey that people would pay in thousands of dollars. Badrinath was literally the whole reason we went on this trip. It was known as one of the most holiest, and sacred places to be at. We arrived there later in the Afternoon. After we checked into our hotel, we went and explored the city. And while exploring the city we saw many beautiful temples, and all these lead us to the main temple, the Badrinath Temple. We had to cross over a small walking bridge which went over the Alaknandha River, It went with such force, and if you sit in that water nonstop for more than ten fifteen minutes, you will surely have a heart failure, because the water is that cold, and we are at an extreme altitude. And the most Ironic thing about this cold river is after we crossed it we have to bathe before we enter the temple, even if we had bathed in the morning. When we went to the place we were supposed to bathe, we came to find out that it was a hot spring and this hot spring was ten feet away from the extremely cold Alaknanda waters, ironic enough, I thought so. After we finished bathing there was a ritual which we had to perform. We had to get into brand new clothes and we had to give the clothes were wearing to the more unfortunate people. So after we did that, we went into the main temple, it was enriched with beautiful colors and sculptures all made since the time the temple was created. Virgil shapes material for his own literary and historical purposes, therefore bias is present. • 44. The Importance Of Freedom In America Freedom meant multiple things for the people who had endured and survived enslavement in America. Freedom meant education, being with family, church organizing, voting, and equal rights as white people. Former slaves informed slave owners that their devotion and loyalty never reflected their true feelings. As slavery ended families were able to reunite. Freedom also meant land. Special field order #15 was issued on January 16, 1865 by General William T. Sherman. A 30 mile tract of land was set aside by the military directive, this land was along the Atlantic coast from Charleston, South Carolina, 245 miles south to Jacksonville, Florida. Sherman reserved this land for black families as white owners just abandoned the land. The Port Royal Experiment was an effort by northern white missionaries, educators, and businessmen in the Sea Islands near Beaufort, South Carolina, to transform former slaves into educated, reliable and industrious wage earners. Congress established the Bureau of Refugees, Freedman, and Abandoned Lands in February 1865 to assist black and white Southerners left destitute by the Civil War. The South Homestead Act was passed by Congress in 1866, this set aside over three million acres of land for former slaves and loyal white Southerners to farm following the Civil War. In 1866 bureau officials tried to force freedmen to sign labor contracts with white landowners. Black men who refused to sign could be arrested. The most important institution among ... Without the separation of powers, neither of these principles would be realized. Governments perform three functions namely executive, judicial and legislative functions. The role of separation of powers involves the diffusion rather than concentration of powers within the state. Thus, these branches should be separate, unique and equal. The underlying principle of the separation of powers is that individuals have the potential to harm others, and this can become a reality when power is concentrated in one person, faction, or institution. In combining the three in separate institutions (the Commons, Lords, and Crown respectively), the English constitution provides all that is necessary for good government. AV Dicey s view on the rule of law cannot be ignored because of the lasting influence he has had. Dicey s views were derived from his understanding of the nature of democracy in UK as unitary and self correcting in which the will of the people are expressed through Parliament, and in which Parliament controlled the government. In setting out the rule of law, Dicey considered three distinct elements. No punishment may be inflicted on anyone other than for a breach of the law; irrespective of rank and status, all men are equal under the law; and the rights and freedom of citizen are best protected under the common law. The rule of law represents a challenge to State authority and power, demanding both that power be granted legitimately and that their exercise is according to law. The law is not autonomous but rests on the support of those it governs. Whilst the rule of law places law above everyone, it remains paradoxically subjected to the ultimate judgment of the people. The rule of law is considered the most fundamental doctrines of the constitution of UK. The constitution is said to be founded on the idea of the rule of law. The UK does have a kind of ... These specific dates, known as calendar customs, are traditional practices that have become incorporated into culture due to social pressure, common usage, and parental or other authority (Brunvand 406). Each holiday has rich, historical roots, and many of the customs associated with them have been transmitted over several generations. In addition, most contemporary holiday customs vary dramatically from the date s original purpose. In the case of Halloween, the commercialization of candy and costumes has contributed to a more family oriented atmosphere compared to the initial auspicious and superstitious beliefs surrounding this day. Despite its alterations throughout the years due to cultural and religious reasons, Halloween still remains a prominent influence in popular culture that will continue to thrive for generations to come. Halloween s inception began over two thousand year ago. This holiday is believed to be synonymous with Samhain, an ancient Celtic festival held on October 31st that signified the onset of winter. Samhain had religious importance as a pagan festival, and the Celtic people often sacrificed food and animals to appease the gods. Many francophone people looking for work in Quebec cities were refused because of their French background. In areas such as Montreal, the francophone people were earning up to 50 percent less than their English speaking peers. There was a clear distinction between the quality of life for the English and the quality of life for the French. This frustration with the other provinces eventually led to The Quiet Revolution and an attempt to separate from the rest of Canada. It wasn t until 1969, that the Official Languages Act was passed by Pierre Elliot Trudeau giving both the English and French languages equal representation in Canadian parliament. Up until then, most documents written by the Canadian government and its affiliates were solely in English and did not recognize French as an official language. In The Hockey Sweater, the character of Mr. Eaton can be equated to the role of the Canadian government. The order forms provided in the Eaton s catalogue were completely in English even though they were being shipped to a small French town in Quebec. This could be seen as the English speaking people of Canada imposing their language and culture upon Quebec in an almost assimilation like manner. The lack of equality with regards to the French and English language pre 1969 led to many people of Quebec feeling subservient to the rest of Canada. Increasing climates have been proven; with the warmest temperatures in 30 years being recorded (Houghton, 1994). Suggested cause of this increase is population change, the ever increasing demand for natural resources to sustain economic growth has resulted in exploitation of ecological systems at a rate never recorded before. The Carbon Cycle consists of the vital components for all animal and plant lives. It is primarily a reflection on primary and secondary production (Krebs, 2009). As seen in Figure 2, carbon levels have not been constant throughout history. Figure 3 represents the basic components of the Carbon cycle. The diagram shows that the oceans are the largest sink of carbon, and is at a constant equilibrium of atmospheric CO2 and aqueous CO2. The increase in atmospheric CO2 levels causes ocean acidification by decreasing the pH of the oceans. PH values are said to have dropped by 0.1pH units since pre industrial levels and are expected to drop a further 0.3 units by the end of the 20th century (Scott C Doney, 2007).
