The team initially tried using a circular piezoelectric disc to light an LED. They conducted tests using a strip of individual piezoelectric discs to understand the energy produced. Further experiments used full and half bridge rectifier circuits to store charge from the piezo disc strip in a capacitor, and attempts were made to store energy in a battery by designing a buck converter for charging it.
