This document summarizes Slovenia's Public Buildings Deep Renovation Programme which uses energy performance contracting (EPC) to implement energy efficiency retrofits of public buildings. From 2016-2018, EPC projects renovated over 600,000 square meters of public building space, achieving annual energy savings of 86 kWh/m2 at a cost of 158 euros/m2. Critical success factors for EPC in Slovenia include supportive policies and legislation, national energy plans that promote EPC, EPC facilitators that develop project pipelines, standardization of EPC processes, and available national and international financing instruments. Future developments may include a quality assurance scheme for energy services and an online platform to facilitate more EPC projects.
Ministry of Economics of Latvia, as EU SBSR Policy Area ‘Energy’ coordinator, is organizing a series of online discussions on the topic "Financing renovation project: mapping roles and responsibilities".
On November 19th, 2020 from 11 am to 13.30 pm Riga time (GMT+2) we are holding the first discussion round - Financing renovation project: stakeholders, decision-making process, project management, and documentation.
In cooperation with the Swedish Institute, we have already established a strong network of experts in the field of energy efficiency by successfully establishing a Baltic Leadership Programme on Energy Efficiency.
With the new series of discussions, we aim to discuss associated funding structures, project implementation, execution, main obstacles, and how to overcome them. The ultimate aim is to continue building a macroregional flagship process on exchanging experiences and sharing competencies on Energy Efficiency.

A new generation of instruments and tools to monitor buildings performanceLeonardo ENERGY
What is the added value of monitoring the flexibility, comfort, and well-being of a building? How can occupants be better informed about the performance of their building? And how to optimize a building's maintenance?
The slides were presented during a webinar and roundtable with a focus on a new generation of instruments and tools to monitor buildings' performance, and their link with the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) for buildings as introduced in the EU's Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).

BACS requirements in the revised EPBD: How to check compliance?Leonardo ENERGY
To support EU Member States in implementing the revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), eu.bac has created a compliance checklist for Building Automation and Control System requirements related to the mandatory capabilities listed in Art.14 and Art.15.
The checklist provides a necessary reference list and highly detailed tool for building owners and managers, compliance inspectors, building designers, installers and policymakers.
In this slide deck:
1. The revised EPBD and the need for a tool to verify BACS compliance (Simone ALESSANDRI)
2. The EPBD BACS Compliance Verification Package (Bonnie BROOK)
3. Compliant BACS: prerequisite to the digital transformation of EU’s built environment (Andrei LITIU)

Smart Neighborhoods speak EEBUS.
The aim of the workshop is to demonstrate how EEBUS enables an industrial approach for residential energy management by providing standardized device communication and energy management use cases. Hence, a lock-in into proprietary manufacturer specific communication can be avoided. This enables cost effective scalability, replication, and commissioning of energy management solutions at target markets.
EEBUS provides transparency and access to all energy relevant devices and thus transforms them into flexible resources for demand response. Single households become the core elements of Smart Neighborhoods and consequently of Smart Grids. The continuously evolving technology is open to further use cases and therefore facilitates the integration of other domains to the REnnovates technical platform – such as E-Mobility which is already managed through EEBUS or grid interaction.
Replication considerations for the deployment of REnnovates in EuropeHenri Relyveld
Replication considerations for the full scale deployment throughout Europe of the REnnovates concept.
In Europe, differences in climate conditions, building typology, energy regulations, home ownership, citizen association or financial mechanisms, lead to varied housing scenarios where single rigid solutions are difficult to implement. The objective is to present the audience the challenges faced for the industrialization and full-scale deployment of the REnnovates concept and some possible approaches to overcome these differences.

Investigating Business Models for Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV)Leonardo ENERGY
Solar cells (photovoltaics, PV) for electricity generation is forecasted to become one of the main contributors in the future energy system. Better building integration of PV (BIPV) is desired for aesthetical reasons and potentially also for cost savings. As of now, BIPV is generally more expensive than ordinary building applied PV installations (BAPV) or regular building components, which means there is a need to include other values in BIPV business models. This webinar presents the results from an inventory of existing business models and case studies, performed within the work of IEA-PVPS Task 15.

Best practices to address non-technical barriers to the renovation of EU buil...Leonardo ENERGY
The annual rate of home and commercial building renovation is well under the 3% required to achieve European climate and energy goals. There is a need to accelerate investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions to boost cost-effective building renovation benefiting all Europeans.
To achieve these ambitious objectives, European projects identified the main barriers (financial, technical, legal…) to the renovation of the EU building stocks. After this stage, projects have to adapt the best practices, or imagine business models to face these issues.
The EU H2020 project STUNNING (SusTainable bUsiNess models for the deep reNovation of buIldiNGs) has the goal to promote successful and innovative building renovation packages and business models around a virtual and collaborative knowledge sharing platform: the STUNNING Renovation Hub, so as to accelerate their adoption.

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

Energy retrofit of public buildings in the City of Ljubljana:
The public tender for the energy retrofit included 48 buildings, among them primary schools,
sports centres and administrative buildings. 25 buildings were fully energy retrofitted, and 23
partly. Through proper insulation, energy efficiency measures, the introduction of energy
management systems and remote control for monitoring, the City of Ljubljana achieved financial
savings of €1 million per year and a total reduction in CO2 emissions of around 400,000 tons.
