• The first Durga Puja was held in the year
1983. Then it was SARVOJANIN DURGA
PUJA at DURGA MANDIR ground, EME.
• Budget was just 19,000/-
• All Pandals and decoration was hand
made.

• In the year 1984, Durga Puja was held at
NCC grounds.
• Eastern India Cultural Assocation (EICA)
was registered.
• 12 / 2 Navdurga Society: The then
residence of founder member Mr. Tapan
Sengupta continued to be organization’s
official address till the purchase of new
club building in the year 1992.

107. Tagore’s ‘CHITRANGADA’ was staged in the year 1992. It was also
the first ever Tagore based dance drama to be staged on EICA
stage. In the succeeding years, ‘SHAPMOCHAN’, ‘CHANDALIKA’,
‘TASER DESH’ and Kalmrigaya’ were staged.
