For decades, government agencies have tried to share data internally and with the private sector to better serve the public, but only recently have some barriers to data sharing started to break down, allowing for more effective sharing. This presentation will discuss a successful example of data sharing between the New York State Department of Transportation, the New York State Police, Westchester County, and private companies, showing how sharing infrastructure data, especially maps, has become important for national safety and security.
