The Export Promotion Forum(EPF) dedicated to promoting millets in the
international market has been established.
The assistance is provided under various components of the schemes viz.
InfrastructureDevelopment, Quality Development, and Market Development.
4. Union Cabinet approved a hike in sugarcaneFRP for 2024- 25 to ₹340 per quintal
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) of
sugarcane for Sugar Season 2024-25 at ₹ 340 per quintal at sugar recovery rate of 10.25%.
Provided an above 10.25% in the recovery premium of Rs. 3.32 per quintal for every 0.1%
increase
This is about 8% higher than the FRP of sugarcane for the current season 2023-24.
5. Cabinet approved ₹24,420 crore fertilizersubsidyfor 2024 kharifseason
The government recently approved a subsidy of ₹24,420 crore for phosphatic and potassic (P&K)
fertilizers.
Subsidy on Nitrogen (N) has been fixed at ₹47.02 per kg, phosphatic (P) at ₹28.72 per kg,
potassic (K) at ₹2.38 per kg, and Sulphur (S) at ₹1.89 per kg for 2024 kharif season
India’s annual consumption of fertilizers stood at 2022-23 stood at 32.54 million tonnes, against
29.37 million in the previous fiscal, recording a growth of 10.8%, according to the Fertilizer
Association of India.
6. 7th sessionof the Codex Committee on Spices and CulinaryHerbs
The 7th session of the Codex Committee on Spices and CulinaryHerbs (CCSCH)
was in Kochi.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, CCSCH7 was the first session of this committee to
be conducted physically109 delegates from 31 countries attended the session.
CCSCH has forwarded these five standardsto the Codex Alimentarius
Commission (CAC)
7. APEDA's 38th Foundation Day
Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority APEDA celebrated its
38th Foundation Day. It was founded in 1986.
APEDA helped to expand the export basket to over 200 countries, showcasing a Compound
Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 12%.
In the fiscal period 2022-23, India's agricultural exports reached USD 53.1 billion, with APEDA
contributinga significant 51% of India’s Agri-exports.

Benefitted 75 Lakh farmers providingMSP outlay of more than Rs.1,30,000
crores.
Centre mandates Stock Disclosure of Rice/Paddy for Traders/Wholesalers,

The Center has decided to start retailsales of ‘Bharat Rice’ to general consumers.
9. India imported 3,000 tonnes of urad beans from Brazil
India has recently imported 3,000 tonnes of urad beans from Brazil and is likely to procure
another 20,000 tonnes this year amid falling domestic production.
To cater to the rising demand, India cannot rely only on Myanmar.We must diversify our risk and
production of it could be thought of in Brazil and Argentina.
Last year, India imported 3.1 million tonnes (mt) of pulses.
10. Farmers' Monthly Income jumps to Rs. 10,218 in 2018-19 from Rs. 6,426 in 2012-13: NSO Survey
The average monthly income per agricultural household during 2012-13 and 2018-19, as per the
result of the Situation Assessment Survey (SAS) conducted by the National Sample Survey Office
(NSSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), was shared.

11. MoU between the Quality Council of India (QCI) and the Khadi Village and Industries Commission(KVIC)
The Quality Council of India will assist KVIC in various activities including

Empowering Khadi artisans and promoting Khadi products through various mediums.
This collaboration will give a new identityto Khadi as 'Made in India’

12. NAFED: Pulse 2024 Convention
Organized by the Global Pulse Confederation in cooperation with the co-operative major National
Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED).
