Identify and locate helicopter operational
hazards, hazardous areas, access routes and
points
1. Identified and located unignited and ignited fuel spillage and
pyrotechnic fire hazards in accordance with procedures and reported
the fire hazards to the HLO, RO, other Helideck Team Members and
the Helicopter Crew.
2. Identified and located electrical hazards (including static) in
accordance with procedures and reported the electrical hazards to
the HLO, RO, other Helideck Team Members and the Helicopter
Crew.
3. Identified and located mechanical hazards associated with helicopter,
including; rotors, flotation devices (including external liferafts),
hydraulics,emergency location beacons and helicopter construction
in accordance with procedures and reported the technical hazards to
the HLO, RO, other Helideck Team Members and the Helicopter
Identify and locate all relevant

1. Identified and located means and techniques for shutting down the
helicopter engine in accordance with procedures and confirmed the
method of operation.
2. Identified and located the helideck fixed fire systems including the
firewaterdeluge valves, insert gas and fire extinguishing system release
valves, the foam system and release valves, the fireman hydrants and
isolation valves.Confirmed the method of operation and reported any
faults to the HLO, in accordance with procedures
3. Identified and located the aircraft fixed fire systems and confirmed the
method of operation.
4. Indentified and located the portable fire and rescue equipment
including hoses, reels and branches, foam equipment and extinguishers in
accordance with procedures and reported any faults to the HLO.
5. Identified and located the fuel control systems and confirmed the
method of operation in accordance with the procedures; and reported
any faults to theHLO.
Pre-plan the response to likely
incidents
1. Collected by observation and assessment, available information on
timescales, available means and resources, equipment and
personnel availability, the scale of damage and casualties associated
with a typical incident in accordance with procedures.
2. Used all available information in an appropriate manner to predict
likelyproblems associated with the protection of the response
team, life saving prioritisation, damage limitation, risk prioritisation
and potential incident escalation in accordance with procedures.
3. Used all information available including the incident and problem
predictions, to determine actions in accordance with procedures.
4. Pre-planned all lines of communication in line with procedures.
