Dear Mr Jackson

Cover letter

I am writing in response to your advert in the Washington post for position of an editor for
your highly inspiring books. Attached to this letter, is a copy of my resume. I have a
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism which I acquired at the school of communication, an
American university in Washington DC. There, I had the opportunity to be the editor of my
school newspaper. I also have a Master’s degree in English Language. While I was in school
I worked as an intern at the Nation magazine, where I worked along with the chief editor
and edited a number of articles. I have worked with Ace Books, where I worked as the
chief editor, and also worked side by side big shot editor and publishers worldwide.
I am intrigued by the art of language, and fluent in 5 foreign languages. I am extremely
time conscious, and work really well with deadlines. I am a book rookie, and read as much
as possible in order to look at things from as many perspectives as possible and gain a vast
knowledge of vocabulary.
I am skilled with the use of the computer, and learn new methods to get work done
better. I have an instinct for recognizing patterns, organizing ideas and creating
categories. Which will be very useful in the editing of your books. I have learnt to interact
well with people around me and try to ensure everyone is happy and satisfied. I also work
with many people who are involved in the publication process and I am a team player.
Though I take my work very serious, having a sense of humor and a wild imagination are
important to me to and they help balance out my work and bring it to life. I also have the
ability to work under pressure and tight situations, without losing my composure.
Thank you very much for your patience and consideration.
Yours sincerely
Mark Dixon
