2. How it Started
William Rosenberg first started out by opening a luncheon service called
“Industrial Luncheon Services” in the state of Massachusetts. This company delivered
meals and coffee break snacks to customers in the outskirts of Boston. This
company was so successful so Mr. Rosenberg
went on to open his first coffee and doughnut
shop called the “Open Kettle” in 1948 in Quincy,
Massachusetts.

3. The Open Kettle
This name was later changed to Dunkin’ Donuts in 1950.
Then in 1955 the first franchise agreement was signed and executed in Worcester, Massachusetts.
After that William Rosenberg.founded the International Franchising Association.

4. The first Dunkin’ Donuts shop in Japan opened in 1970.

5. Becoming even more
Successful…
• Besides having a simple coffee and doughnut together, various beverages can
now be enjoyed with many different snacks at Dunkin’ Donuts. Munchkins were
introduced to the Dunkin’ Donuts chain in 1970. Later freshly baked muffins
were added to the menu. Now many different ways to drink coffee (ie: frozen,
steamed, iced, etc.) in many different flavors (ie: French vanilla, hazelnut etc.)
are available.
