1. Dragana is the eye of a team.
As a child, her parents took her regularly to ballet and opera performances, where she got pulled
into the magic of the scene setup, lighting, music and dark corners of the backstage. Later on, while
at high-school studying graphic design, she discovered photography. A 35mm film camera, the dark
room and the picture developing process were experiences that got Dragana even more into the
world of light and shadows. Nevertheless, she directed her studies in early childhood education and
later, while working with young children, she got to express her creativity trough methodology of
painting and music. At the same time she used to spend a lot of her free time taking pictures of
classical and jazz musicians at many concerts and filming different sorts of live events. It was
Director of Photography a professor at the Academy of arts in Novi Sad, Serbia, who inspired her to
follow a private course in filmmaking. Finally, a long time hobby and passion turned into a full time
occupation when she joined the tedMEDIAproductions team in 2007 with ‘inTUNE’ as her first
project.
She looks, watches and she sees; listens, feels, absorbs life around her; she dreams, she imagines,
she sees pictures in her head. Honesty, warmth, truthfulness, sensuality, meaning, natural beauty,
passion, uncovered things, essence, relevancy, is what she is looking for through her lance, it’s what
she communicates with; it’s what she is inspired about; it’s what she is trying to capture both in a
still photo or a video tape. She is a type of an old-fashioned filmmaker, using her eye, her forefinger,
her long legs and a manual lance with a good iris aperture waiting in an ambush for THE right
moment – she’s the visual storyteller.
Making a scene; creating balanced composition; painting with lights; choosing the right colour,
pleasant mood; making the subject feel like at home is her job and her passion.
And if trough some shots of hers someone can be touched with hope & love and SHINE, that is what
makes her FLY!
