Dr. N. Karunakaran was awarded the International Outstanding Faculty Award in 2015 for his 25 years of contributions to research and teaching in economics. He holds several advanced degrees in economics and education. Dr. Karunakaran has been teaching economics for over 25 years and is currently the Head of the Post-Graduate Department of Economics and Vice-Principal at a college in Kerala, India. He has published numerous books, research papers, and articles on economic issues and completed research projects.

Faculty Award, 2015 organised by
the Venus International Foundation
is presented to Dr. N. Karunakaran
at Chennai on 5th July 2015. The
award is an international honour for
his contribution in research and
teaching in the field of Economics
for the last 25 years.

Dr. N. Karunakaran holds M A (Economics) from
Calicut University, M Phil from Pondicherry
central University, M Ed from Madras
University and Ph D from Kannur University,
Kerala. He started his career as a teacher in
1989 and at present Head of the Post-
Graduate Department of Economics and Vice-
Principal, E K Nayanar Memorial Government
College, Elerithattu, Kasaragod, Kerala, India.
As an inspiring teacher, he taught economics
for graduate and post-graduate students for
the last two and a half decades. He has
published books, a large number of research
papers and articles in the reputed edited
books, national and international journals.

He has completed research projects and is a
prolific writer on economic issues. His works
has been awarded nationally and
internationally.
He is a recipient of University ranks and is an
active member of several academic and
professional bodies in the field of economics
and also research guide in economics in
various Universities. He is a life member of
Agricultural Economics Research
Association (AERA), New Delhi, Institute of
Economic and Social Development (IESD),
Ranchi, Kerala Economic Association (KEA)
and other bodies.

He is a member of the Board of Studies
in Economics at Kannur University
and associate editor of many
international journals. He has
organised seminars, conferences and
workshops having wide reputation. He
also participated and presented more
than 50 papers at the national and
international seminars, conferences
and workshops during the past few
years.
