PART ‘C’ Skills and Competencies
(Underlined text is my response to the parameter indicated)
• Managerial Skills –
1. Ability to anticipate issues and problems and prepare advance
strategic plans; I believe in putting some advance thinking process of my own, while
tackling any issues or problems, which can enable me to anticipate possible
obstacles in resolving process. Such anticipation enables one to think of solutions in
advance.
2. Ability to generate resources and allocate the same appropriately: The prior
experience in managing projects has taught me to think of possible budgets for
various parameters, like men, material & machines & plan for its acquisition as far as
possible. While planning for the same, the final allocation or even shuffling the same,
as per the situational need, is also generally thought of by me.
3. Capacity to work effectively under pressure and manage work and
resources within tight deadlines; All the industrial projects done by me have been on
tight deadline, since very many things were crucially dependent on it. Hence I am
used to work in tight deadlines. Based on the same, I can get things done from
people around me to the time lines available.
4. Understanding of financial management including revenue
generation, planning and fiscal control; Having shouldered a profit centre
responsibility as a CEO of a unit, I am quite experienced in managing finance,
understanding as required the budget preparation, allocation & monitoring the
utilization of the allocated budget. Since I had faced statutory & government audits,
including one of Propriety Audit, I am familiar with fiscal control.
• Leadership skills –
I have myself completed NCC Training for 4 years & attained senior-most rank
available to student i.e. Senior under-Officer. I have passed B & C Certificates
& I was awarded Best Cadet honour. I have attended All India Advanced
Leadership Course & Camp for Attachment to the Regular Army. For 2 years,
in capacity of Under-Officer, I was the leader of about 200 cadets. Thus I
myself have inculcated elements of Leadership since my career as student.
1. Ability to motivate a diverse group of stake-holders ; Motivation is primary factor
which can yield better results in every activity. Properly motivated people can turn
out stupendous performance. Hence I will have to think in terms of motivating
people.
2. Desire to further the mission and goals of the organization; Every organization has
some set mission & goals for the same. I believe any administrator should manage
12

his resources in such manner as to go nearest to the mission goals. I will thrive to do
the same.
3. Ability to think strategically and innovatively and maintain a broad
perspective; Since I believe that run of the mill job can be done by anyone. Hence I
believe that I must innovate to try to do the things more effectively, with better
results.
4. Ability to lead by personal example with openness to new ideas and
a consultative approach in implementation of the same. In terms of getting
performance done, I believe in remaining a part of the team & hence take pride in
participative management. Hence my team has been believer in my decisions & has
given me comparatively better turn out. While doing this, I have always been
consultative & seeking opinions of the team members in terms of their perception of
the activities. This, I believe, motivates them, since they think they are being
consulted & hence sense of participation comes into play. I follow this style of
working.
Demonstrated experience in leadership
Sl. Brief description of nature of
leadership
activity and role played
Documented evidence of
achievements in leadership
1 After taking over profit centre
responsibility as Chief
Executive Officer of Distillery
Division of WMDC Ltd., was
entrusted with immediate task
of reviving the production
activity to bring it in profit.
Worked very hard to achieve
this uphill task within 2 years &
maintained it for overall 5
years. Manged a work force of
300 workers & 1000 population
colony.
In 1989 & 1990 consecutively for 2 years
achieved highest production & profitability &
broke a record of past 30 years. Was given
Excellent in Business Professional award by
local Rotary Club. A certificate to that extent
was given by Managing Director & was
recorded with praise by Board of Directors
2 Entrusted with a task of
developing & commercializing
new process to destroy
distillery pollution, single
handed managed to put up the
demo project & secured
commercial order for the same
& achieved commercial level
success.
Certificate to that extent by the Managing
Director.
• Interpersonal communication and collaborative skills-
1. Details of experience in developing and executing National and
13

International collaborative arrangements; At the levels mentioned, I believe, you are
exposed to variety of experience from variety of people. I further believe that I must
try to take up suitable matters from amongst them to let me achieve the mission of
my own organization. With this belief, I have tackled many collaborative projects,
involving people from Japan, Germany etc. & adopt the better out of them.
2. Ability to interact effectively and persuasively with a strong
knowledge-base at senior levels and in large forums as well as on a
one-to-one basis; I have had privilege to work with top level scientists, Managing
Directors, Chairmen, Ministers, MPs & MLAs on one to one basis. I am not cowed
down by their big personality, but work with level head, without compromising our
own mission.
3. Evidence of being an active member of professional bodies and
associations in pertinent fields. I have worked in committees & professional bodies,
shoulder to shoulder with the top level people in the field. I have made presentations
of new concepts & theories & they have been peer reviewed & finally accepted &
appreciated, after getting results to that extent.

  • 11. 11     PART ‘C’ Skills and Competencies (Underlined text is my response to the parameter indicated) • Managerial Skills – 1. Ability to anticipate issues and problems and prepare advance strategic plans; I believe in putting some advance thinking process of my own, while tackling any issues or problems, which can enable me to anticipate possible obstacles in resolving process. Such anticipation enables one to think of solutions in advance. 2. Ability to generate resources and allocate the same appropriately: The prior experience in managing projects has taught me to think of possible budgets for various parameters, like men, material & machines & plan for its acquisition as far as possible. While planning for the same, the final allocation or even shuffling the same, as per the situational need, is also generally thought of by me. 3. Capacity to work effectively under pressure and manage work and resources within tight deadlines; All the industrial projects done by me have been on tight deadline, since very many things were crucially dependent on it. Hence I am used to work in tight deadlines. Based on the same, I can get things done from people around me to the time lines available. 4. Understanding of financial management including revenue generation, planning and fiscal control; Having shouldered a profit centre responsibility as a CEO of a unit, I am quite experienced in managing finance, understanding as required the budget preparation, allocation & monitoring the utilization of the allocated budget. Since I had faced statutory & government audits, including one of Propriety Audit, I am familiar with fiscal control. • Leadership skills – I have myself completed NCC Training for 4 years & attained senior-most rank available to student i.e. Senior under-Officer. I have passed B & C Certificates & I was awarded Best Cadet honour. I have attended All India Advanced Leadership Course & Camp for Attachment to the Regular Army. For 2 years, in capacity of Under-Officer, I was the leader of about 200 cadets. Thus I myself have inculcated elements of Leadership since my career as student. 1. Ability to motivate a diverse group of stake-holders ; Motivation is primary factor which can yield better results in every activity. Properly motivated people can turn out stupendous performance. Hence I will have to think in terms of motivating people. 2. Desire to further the mission and goals of the organization; Every organization has some set mission & goals for the same. I believe any administrator should manage
  • 12. 12     his resources in such manner as to go nearest to the mission goals. I will thrive to do the same. 3. Ability to think strategically and innovatively and maintain a broad perspective; Since I believe that run of the mill job can be done by anyone. Hence I believe that I must innovate to try to do the things more effectively, with better results. 4. Ability to lead by personal example with openness to new ideas and a consultative approach in implementation of the same. In terms of getting performance done, I believe in remaining a part of the team & hence take pride in participative management. Hence my team has been believer in my decisions & has given me comparatively better turn out. While doing this, I have always been consultative & seeking opinions of the team members in terms of their perception of the activities. This, I believe, motivates them, since they think they are being consulted & hence sense of participation comes into play. I follow this style of working. Demonstrated experience in leadership Sl. Brief description of nature of leadership activity and role played Documented evidence of achievements in leadership 1 After taking over profit centre responsibility as Chief Executive Officer of Distillery Division of WMDC Ltd., was entrusted with immediate task of reviving the production activity to bring it in profit. Worked very hard to achieve this uphill task within 2 years & maintained it for overall 5 years. Manged a work force of 300 workers & 1000 population colony. In 1989 & 1990 consecutively for 2 years achieved highest production & profitability & broke a record of past 30 years. Was given Excellent in Business Professional award by local Rotary Club. A certificate to that extent was given by Managing Director & was recorded with praise by Board of Directors 2 Entrusted with a task of developing & commercializing new process to destroy distillery pollution, single handed managed to put up the demo project & secured commercial order for the same & achieved commercial level success. Certificate to that extent by the Managing Director. • Interpersonal communication and collaborative skills- 1. Details of experience in developing and executing National and
  • 13. 13     International collaborative arrangements; At the levels mentioned, I believe, you are exposed to variety of experience from variety of people. I further believe that I must try to take up suitable matters from amongst them to let me achieve the mission of my own organization. With this belief, I have tackled many collaborative projects, involving people from Japan, Germany etc. & adopt the better out of them. 2. Ability to interact effectively and persuasively with a strong knowledge-base at senior levels and in large forums as well as on a one-to-one basis; I have had privilege to work with top level scientists, Managing Directors, Chairmen, Ministers, MPs & MLAs on one to one basis. I am not cowed down by their big personality, but work with level head, without compromising our own mission. 3. Evidence of being an active member of professional bodies and associations in pertinent fields. I have worked in committees & professional bodies, shoulder to shoulder with the top level people in the field. I have made presentations of new concepts & theories & they have been peer reviewed & finally accepted & appreciated, after getting results to that extent. SIGNATURE
