The document discusses how the knowledge management system Tethys facilitates information sharing on the environmental effects of marine renewable energy (MRE). General improvements were made to Tethys, including adding over 1,300 documents to the knowledge base and map viewer. Metadata on MRE data in the Bay of Fundy and Sequim Bay were also collected. An analysis of Tethys website analytics found that countries involved in international MRE cooperation organizations and with coastal access tended to have the most pageviews, indicating use of Tethys as an information resource. However, developing countries without strong MRE programs also had notable pageviews, likely reflecting their renewable energy interests.

5 key differences between Hard skill and Soft skillsRuchiRathor2

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐝 & 𝐒𝐨𝐟𝐭 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 💯
In today's dynamic and competitive market, a well-rounded skillset is no longer a luxury - it's a necessity.
While technical expertise (hard skills) is crucial for getting your foot in the door, it's the combination of hard and soft skills that propels you towards long-term success and career advancement. ✨
Think of it like this: Imagine a highly skilled carpenter with a masterful understanding of woodworking (hard skills). But if they struggle to communicate effectively with clients, collaborate with builders, or adapt to project changes (soft skills), their true potential remains untapped. 😐
The synergy between hard and soft skills is what creates true value in the workplace. Strong communication allows you to clearly articulate your technical expertise, while problem-solving skills help you navigate complex challenges alongside your team. 💫
By actively developing both sets of skills, you position yourself as a well-rounded professional who can not only perform tasks efficiently but also contribute meaningfully to a collaborative and dynamic work environment.

2. Department of Energy
• The Department of Energy (DOE) is
tasked with providing governmental
control and oversight with regards to
energy technology and policy within
the United States.
• The DOE originated in the
establishment of the Manhattan
Project, which was developed to
engineer the Atomic Bomb.
• The Atomic Energy Act of 1946
instituted the Atomic Energy
Commission (AEC) and placed all
nuclear developmental activity under
civilian control.
• In 1954, under the auspices of the
Energy Act of 1954, the AEC begin to
design and develop commercial and
civilian uses for nuclear energy.
• The energy crisis of the 1970’s, coupled
with the growth in government
sponsored nuclear energy projects,
facilitated the need for a cohesive
energy policy.
• The Federal Energy Administration,
Energy Research and Development
Administration, and the Nuclear
Regulatory Commission (formerly
AEC) were combined, through the
passage of the Department of Energy
Organization Act of 1977, to form the
DOE.
• The DOE website can be accessed at
http://www.energy.gov/.
3. Office of Scientific and
Technical Information
(OSTI)
• The Office of Scientific and Technical
Information (OSTI) is tasked with the
electronic distribution of scientific R
& D information sponsored, and
used, by the DOE.
• OSTI was established in 1947, under
the authority of the Atomic Energy
Act of 1946, as the Technical
Information Program.
• OSTI was founded to disseminate
information about the Manhattan
Project and the development of
nuclear weapons.

information to scientists,
students, and interested
members of the general public.
• DDE can be used to access the
following data: computer
simulations, numeric data files,
figures and plots, interactive
maps, multimedia, and scientific
images.
• The site also includes a news
page with new information and
maintains a featured data
collection column.
• DDE can be accessed by going to
http://www.osti.gov/dataexplor
er/.
8. DOE R&D Accomplishments
• The Department of Energy
Research and Development
(R&D) Accomplishments website
was designed to promote DOE
accomplishments that resulted in
significant economic, social, or
scientific advances.
• The site is provides separate
pages for the Database,
Laureates, and Featured
Scientists.
• An exploration page allows the
user to explore basic snapshots
and stories of interest.
• Finally, a Finding Aids page is
made available to help simplify
the search parameters of the site.
• R&D can be accessed at
http://www.osti.gov/accomplis
hments/.
9. DOE Green Energy
• On April 21, 2010, in celebration
of Earth Day, OSTI launched
DOE Green Energy (GE).
• GE is a subject specific website
that provides public access to
bibliographic citations, technical
reports, and patent reports that
are focused on renewable/
sustainable energy resources.
• GE use semantic mapping to
more efficiently access the
desired information of the user.
• The site provides user access to
34,500 technical reports and 1,300
patents.
• GE can be accessed at
http://www.osti.gov/greenener
gy/.
10. DOE Patents
• In 2007, OSTI, through
DOepatents, made available
20,000 patent records that were
the end-result of DOE sponsored
research.
• These records span from
predecessor organizations of the
1940’s to the DOE in the present
time.
• DOepatents consists of
bibliographic records and, when
available, full text records.
• The site also includes hyperlinks
dealing in Patent News, Recent
Inventions, and Technology

14. Science Conference Proceedings
• Science Conference Proceedings
(SCP) was released in 2005 in
order to provide access to
conference papers in disciplines
of interest to the DOE.
• The accessed sites are primarily
composed of labs and
professional societies.
• SCP can be accessed at

16. Science.gov
• Science.gov is a collaborative
project between 17 government
science organizations and 13
federal agencies to provide
wide ranging access to U.S.
sponsored scientific research.
• Originally launched in 2002,
site updates are completed
every 6 weeks and can e

18. WorldWideScience.org
• Developed by OSTI,
WorldWideScience.org was
conceived as an information
clearinghouse for scientific
organizations, and their
constituents, from member
nations worldwide.
• A strength of the website is that
information is provided in

resources.
• The site is available, for free, to
citizens from around the world.
• Information is available in the
following sub-topics: energy,
medicine, agriculture,
environment, basic sciences,
and more.
• The site can be accessed at
http://worldwidescience.org/.
19. Energy Technology Data Exchange World Energy Base
• The Energy Technology Data
Exchange World Energy Base
(ETDEWEB) is a collaborative
network that functions through
the input of scientific
authorities from member
nations.
• In addition to member input,
ETDEWEB receives information
from the International Atomic
Energy Agency's International
Nuclear Information System
and IEA Clean Coal Centre's
(IEACCC) Coal Abstracts
database.
• Information is available in the
following sub-topics: energy,
medicine, agriculture,
environment, basic sciences,
and more.
• ETDEWEB contains 4,668,000
citations, 452,000 reports onsite,
and 1 million offsite reports.

20. International Nuclear Information System
• The International Nuclear
Information System (INIS) was
established in 1970 under the
authority of the International
Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
• INIS was conceived as a
clearinghouse for information
on the peaceful use of nuclear
energy and technology.
• The collection features 280,000
online full text documents and
3.3 million bibliographic
records.
• Nationally based Liaison
Officers are charged with
providing information to INIS
and disseminating information
within national borders.
