Self-care is a form of self-love. It's about accepting one's flaws and
loving themselves. Self-care is taking care of one's own health. It is
more about doing things you enjoy. Pampering oneself is often
confused with being selfish, but it has nothing to do with
self-indulgence. Individuals are advised to engage in some form of
self-care activity every day. Parenting should be done in such a way
that children are taught the importance of self-care and how it shapes
us to be a better version of ourselves.
WHO's definition of self-care is the ability of individuals, families, and
communities to promote their own health, prevent disease, maintain
health, and cope with illness and disability with or without the support
of a health worker.
When the whole world was battling the coronavirus, people around the
globe had to settle in to minimize further spread. During that time, the
whole idea of self-care came into the picture. People realized how
important it is to take a break and breathe. It is ok to slow down in the
race of life and listen to what our body needs. It need not necessarily
be a cost-effective activity; even making a bed after you wake up
might be helpful.
IMPORTANCE
Self-care can help in the management of stress, increase energy, and
reduce the possibility of getting sick. Self-care empowers people of all
age groups to focus more on maintaining physical, mental, and
emotional wellbeing. Self-care helps with self-awareness.
Understanding and accepting who we are as people is also part of
self-care.

recovering from setbacks. Self-care techniques and practices have
been found to increase positivity and mindfulness. Self-care not only
improves our mental health but also helps us be more creative and
productive.
