2. If you’re like most people, you spend so much time trying to make
the holidays perfect that you never have time to stop and smell the…
well, evergreen. It’s time to change that.
This holiday season make some memories.
Gloucester Stage is presenting a delightfully funny holiday show that is perfect for every member of the
family. Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!) condenses (you guessed it) pretty much every
holiday tale and carol—from the Grinch to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, with a little Scrooge and a
touch of Nutcracker thrown in.
“It’s silly, and funny, and fast-paced,” says Casey L. Oakes, who directs the show. “There are jokes for kids
and some zingers for mom and dad. There’s even a sing-a-long of ‘every Christmas carol ever written.’”
The cast of three, which includes Suzan Perry (The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), plays a bevy of
characters who will be familiar to everyone. Audiences will be on the edge of their seats not knowing what’s
coming next, or what to expect—except a great time!
“Every Christmas Story… has played to packed houses all over the country. Families have made it an
annual tradition, coming back to see it year after year wherever it has played,” Oakes says. “I’m excited to
bring this show to Gloucester.” The production opens November 27 and runs through December 31.
Co-author Michael Carlton has shared some script updates and new material that Gloucester audiences
will get to see first. “You can’t claim to tell every Christmas story without some updates,” Oakes says with
a laugh. Gs
