DIY Toothpaste & mouth Wash

3. Truth about commercial Tooth Paste
•Artifical sweeteners: often used in
toothpaste to improve taste, however
there’s no evidence that these sweeteners
are beneficial (or even safe) for use in the
mouth.
•Surfactants: e.g SLS , which gives toothpaste
its foam and lather. Some research shows
that SLS can cause mouth ulcers and canker
sores.

4. Tooth Paste Recipe

5. Ingredients
• ½ cup coconut oil
• 2-3 tblsp Baking Soda
• 2 small packets Stivia
• 15-20 drops of Mint/peppermint oil

6. Methods
1. Melt or slightly soften coconut oil.
2. Mix in other ingredients and stir well. If using semi-hard coconut oil,
use a fork, if not, use a spoon. If you are using completely melted
coconut oil, you will need to stir several times while the mixture
cools to keep the baking soda incorporated.
3. Put mixture into small glass jar (I make different ones for each
family member)
4. Let cool completely.

7. Truth about commercial Mouth Wash
• Don’t just kill bad bacteria kill good bacteria which protect you from
dangerous bacteria
• acidic stabilizing agents – eats away enamel on your teeth
• Worsen mouth ulcers and dry mouth because of the alcohol in mouth
washes
• Removes the protective mucous and saliva causing faster teeth decay,
more plaque build up and bad breath

8. Mouth Wash Recipe

9. Ingredients
• ½ cup warm water
• 1 tsp raw honey
• Sprinkle cinnamon
• 1 tsp baking Soda

10. Methods
• Add sprinkle of cinnamon to the warm water
• add raw honey, baking soda and lemon
• Stir until dissolved
