Social media allows people to connect based on common interests, forming online communities. While people have always formed small groups, social media makes connecting much easier. Research suggests people can maintain stable relationships with approximately 150 people. Popular social media networks like LinkedIn and Facebook allow people to connect with their close network of friends and family as well as broader communities of thousands. To make the most of social media, experts recommend identifying your key story or message, choosing appropriate channels to share your story consistently, and networking by connecting with others.
