As I journey with our Change Agents through their Circles of Change (COC) I wake more and more up to this inspiring quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson. When each of us live into our Golden Thread and follow its calling, Magic takes place! Each project that we have been so lucky to witness and gently guide in our Change Agent work this year inspires to move beyond what we think we know and open ourselves to the grand adventure! I am deeply grateful for a year that has emptied me and opened me further. Only when we can be fully present with ‘the other’ can we deeply honour their journey and its unfolding. Here at SmilingOne we are curious about the puzzle piece that each of our Students are in our greater puzzle - their unique contribution. We walk hand in hand, we spin the COC Engine inwardly and outwardly, we shape and co-create inspiring projects that heal and inspire youth, families and communities.
Our annual report is a testimony of how each Change Agent leaves a trail as they are drawn by the inner pull towards their purpose - embracing the share they own in the well-being of our Society!

The Khumbu Climbing School: A Model for Mountaineering Leadership.
The Khumbu Climbing School (KCS) is an annual vocational training and instructional program for Nepali climbers. The school is designed to increase the competency of Nepali people who climb and/or work in the high mountains. Everest is increasingly a crowded mountain. With traffic jams, elevated tensions, and waste issues in a fragile environment, Everest reflects many of the challenges humans face in the coming decades. The big question for Everest is carrying capacity. Once this is agreed upon, the next steps can be implemented. What can we learn from mountain tourism on Denali and how the National Park Service regulate use?

Emily Walden seeks a full-time position in camp management and planning with her experience in residential camps. She has served as Program Director at Camp Foster YMCA where she created youth programs centered on values and supervised counselors. As a cabin counselor, she tended to groups of 8-10 campers facilitating activities while ensuring safety. Currently she works at Purdue Recreational Sports providing equipment and positively impacting patrons. She expects to graduate from Purdue University in May 2016 with a Bachelor's Degree in Educational Studies.

Temple University's Campus Recreation said goodbye to two staff members, John Doman and Chris Hopkins, who took new positions at the University of Pennsylvania. Doman had worked at Temple since 2000 in various roles before becoming Senior Associate Director. Hopkins had worked at Temple since 2005 in roles such as Operations Manager and Assistant Director before becoming Associate Director of Fitness and Administration. Both reflected fondly on their time at Temple and the family atmosphere of Campus Recreation. Campus Recreation will hold an event called Swim for MS to raise awareness and funds for multiple sclerosis research. The event organizer's sister was diagnosed with MS at a young age and hopes this event helps support those with the disease.

Let me introduce myself… I’m Carrie Okey , Rescue Divas Camp Director and busy mom of two boys. Born on a naval base in Oakland, California, I ended up spending most of my childhood growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. I loved being a Girl Scout, which introduced me to First Aid and lifeguarding. (I earned my Gold Award for creating a reforestation program at the summer camp I attended as a kid and where I eventually became a counselor.) Since then, I have attended Northland College (graduating with a degree in Environmental Studies and Outdoor Education), worked for the School District of Bayfield as their Athletic Director & Recreation Center Manager for four years, received my EMT-Basic training/ license from WITC in 2003, went on to manage SplAshland waterpark at the AmericInn and assume the position of Director of Operations for a total of eight years. Whew! Now, I work for CEP, Inc. (the Concentrated Employment Program) managing the Business Services team and working with an incredible and eclectic group of people who work with youth and adults. The goal we all share is trying to get people great jobs in industries that need great people. Blending my passion for helping businesses find solutions to their workforce needs and my affinity for EMS, sparked the idea for Rescue Divas. Two grants, and as many years later, we are ready to welcome our first campers to the inaugural session of the camp. I have a lot of energy and love making people laugh, so get ready for a fun time!
