Melissa Amon, Director of Student and Instructional Services for Cushing Public Schools, has been named the 2016 OASA District #4 Assistant Superintendent/Central Office Administrator of the Year. She was selected by her peers for this award from among nineteen administrators across the state. Amon has spent her entire career at Cushing, beginning as a teacher and later serving as an assistant principal before accepting her current position. Upon learning of the award, Amon stated that she is honored and humbled to have been nominated, and loves the opportunity to work with educators at every level in her district to improve teaching and learning.

Melissa Amon Named OASA District #4 Assistant Superintendent/Central
Office Administrator of the Year
Oklahoma City, OK – Melissa Amon, Director of Student and
Instructional Services for Cushing Public Schools, has been named the
2016 OASA District #4 Assistant Superintendent/Central Office
Administrator of the Year by the Oklahoma Association of School
Administrators (OASA).
Mrs. Amon is one of nineteen assistant superintendents/central office
administrators selected by her peers for this award from across the state.
These administrators, and the District Superintendent finalists, will be
honored by colleagues at the OASA awards banquet on Wednesday, June
8 on the eve of the annual Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School
Administration (CCOSA) Summer Conference. The conference will be
held June 9-10 at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Convention Center in
Norman.
“Congratulations to Melissa Amon, for being selected by her colleagues
as the outstanding OASA District Assistant Superintendent/Central Office Administrator of the Year,”
Dr. Pam Deering, Executive Director of OASA stated. “It is an honor to be nominated and selected by
your peers for your leadership, service, and contributions to the profession,” Deering added.
Mrs. Amon has spent her entire career at Cushing. She began as a teacher and cheerleading/dance team
sponsor, and later served as an assistant principal before accepting her current position.
Upon learning of this award, Mrs. Amon stated, “I am honored and humbled to have been nominated by
my colleagues as the OASA District #4 Assistant Superintendent/Central Office Administrator of the
Year. This is my second year working as a district administrator and I love the opportunity that I have to
work with administrators, teachers, and students at every level in my district. It is such a privilege to be
able to work with such an outstanding group of educators at Cushing Public Schools. It is my hope that
my work empowers teachers and administrators to be able to make a difference in students’ lives by
improving teaching and learning every day.”
Winners from each OASA District are eligible to submit an application for the Oklahoma Assistant
Superintendent/Central Office Administrator of the Year. They must meet certain criteria that include
successful experiences in the top administration position; a sound, dynamic and realistic philosophy of
education; the ability to motivate and inspire people; support and recognize others; professional and
personal growth; the ability to speak for education; and contributions to educational administration.
The Oklahoma Association of School Administrators is under the umbrella of the Cooperative Council
for Oklahoma School Administration. CCOSA is an incorporated, non-profit organization serving over
2800 superintendents, assistant superintendents, central office administrators, principals, and special
education directors.
