The goal of our first discussion is to get to know each other. Be creative, post a picture, find an internet article that is your favorite and answer the questions below. For this virtual discussion, picture yourself sitting around the table getting to know the class. There are no wrong answers. I look forward getting to know you.
From one of your famous or most read or admired authors, what is a quote you might live by or like to tell others? Or, list some significant event that you know about that relates to this course topic. Or list some other famous quote. Maybe there is a great scientific discovery you admire. Or describe a great person or hero in your life.
Next, list what music you listen to; what you watch on film, television, or video, what you read in print or online, and where you go to have fun for travel or recreation.
What is the view outside of your window? What is your favorite app on your phone or electronic device?
Is your fridge more likely to be full of food or take-out containers?
Describing yourself using 4 adjectives, what would they be?
Instructions: Your initial post should be at least 250 words. Please respond to at least 2 other students. Responses should be a minimum of 100 words and include direct questions. This discussion submission serves as your official entry into the course. This Introduction Discussion must be submitted the first week of the course, by 11:59 p.m., ET, on Sunday to maintain your registration in the course. Students who do not post to this discussion by 11:59 p.m., ET, Sunday will be automatically dropped from the course.
W1: Selection of Artifacts
Your portfolio is a way to gain your competitive advantage in the marketplace. Throughout the course, you will be editing previous coursework and uploading to your portfolio. In addition, you will create new artifacts (items that you want to showcase) to include in your portfolio. Your portfolio should include a diverse collection of artifacts that represent you. Consider how you will use the portfolio after the completion of the course? How will you use the final product to enhance your personal branding?
For the second part of our discussion this week, please answer the following questions. Based on your reading and understanding, how would you describe an ePortfolio? How do you develop one? What are signature assignments and how do you select the best one to include in your portfolio? A list of the signature assignments is located in the resources area. Will you include videos and pictures?
Be creative as there is not a right or wrong response. Provide details of the artifacts you would like to include. Consider what will be of value to the person reviewing the artifacts. When you respond to your peers, consider artifacts they may not have included.
Instructions: You are expected to participate during the current week's discussion. Contact your instructor in cases of e ...

Making a recommendation or offering a solution to the problem
In conclusion, social media is not only responsible in many cases for ruining a marriage, sometimes it is responsible for ruining the entire family balance. These social platforms affect the stability of the couple creating a detachment in the everyday life; once the stability is broken and the distance starts to increase, most likely a sense of jealousy will generate and possibly lead to infidelity. It is easy for many users to blame social media for the end of their marriage, and because of this, it is important to use social media for a limited time with non-malicious intentions. The responsible use of the platforms may protect marriages from being permanently damaged and give a couple the possibility to live a much happier life together.
Painting a picture of the future if the problem is solved or handled correctly
Modern technology continues to prove its merit within the medical field furthering our understanding of ADHD as well as providing invaluable resources available to the public and educational institutions in which to simplify the management of this troublesome condition. It’s used to aid children throughout their academic endeavors, which, will dictate how they enter society and cope with symptoms that will be with them until future technology can find a cure. Data collection will only grow as technology is further implemented in ADHD treatment and is the key to developing the individual treatment plans that will help future generations thrive. The benefits of modern technology towards adolescents suffering from ADHD are plentiful and may one day eliminate the condition. This future is welcomed and one with great promise.
Painting a picture of the future if the problem is NOT solved or handled correctly
All in all, technology is growing at an extraordinarily exponential pace allowing us to be more connected and in tune than ever before. However, while we grow more connected online, we grow more apart in real life which in turn hurts our social skills, disconnects us from each other, degrades our interpersonal skills, makes it easier to commit crimes, and pulls friends and family apart. With almost everything in life there is undoubtedly an equal number of cons.

Hearing & Eye Age-Related Diseases
Presbycusis, also known as age-related hearing loss, is a debilitating disease with a complicated etiology that affects tens of millions of people worldwide and roughly half of those over 65 in the United States (Say et al., 2021). The loss is usually bilateral, causing difficulty hearing high-pitched tones and conversational speech (Meiner & Yeager, 2019). The causes of age-related hearing loss are thought to be genetic and environmental. Men are more affected by this condition than women. This condition's origin is yet unknown.
Some signs and symptoms that could be seen in patients with this condition are not answering when spoken to, talking loudly, paying attention to the speaker's lips, turning up the radio or TV volume, putting one palm over one ear, and tilting the head to one side when someone is speaking (Meiner & Yeager, 2019). The causes of presbycusis are multifaceted. In addition to physiologic and anatomical alterations brought on by aging-related deterioration, genetic factors are among the additional contributing elements (Cheslock & De Jesus, 2022). It is believed that glutamate signaling, glucocorticoids, and sex hormones all contribute to it. Hearing loss occurs more frequently in postmenopausal women who use progestin and a combination of hormone replacement therapy. Presbycusis has also been linked to exposure to loud noises and ototoxic substances such as salicylates, loop diuretics, aminoglycosides, and some chemotherapeutic drugs. Ototoxicity has also been linked to certain occupational and environmental exposures to toxins such as toluene, styrene, lead, carbon monoxide, mercury, and other toxins (Cheslock & De Jesus, 2022). This problem has also been associated to a history of ear infections and the presence of several systemic disorders.
Studies aimed at establishing a clear association for the cause have not been successful. As a result, the diagnosis entails eliminating other potential causes of hearing loss, such as infections, head trauma, metabolic disorders, vascular diseases, and heart disease (Meiner & Yeager, 2019). It is important for nurses when caring for patients with this condition to speak clearly and use a normal tone of voice. Patients and their families need to be instructed on how to use and where to obtain assistive listening devices (Meiner & Yeager, 2019). Nurses must educate patients and family members that when using hearing aids, they need to perform daily listening and battery checks. These devices must be stored in a hearing aid drying container with batteries removed.

What We Can Afford” Poem By Shavar X. Seabrooks L.docxDustiBuckner14
“What We Can Afford”
Poem By: Shavar X. Seabrooks
Like the rice fields of Charleston, the wind blows limitlessly.
The slaves give peace to the land that hands they have touch.
In the mist of blood, sweat and tears, still the heartbeat sticks in the sweetgrass of mercy.
Gathered near the Stono River, they earned for freedom press against time which is not a
companion.
Fort Mose just in their reach, still time is not their companion.
Looking back to the Ancient Civilization, were Dark Skin People were King and Queens.
Wear Kenta cloths adorning the skin like silk.
And were the land being harvest for love and not for gain.
The children to grow and not wanting to be enslaved and the lips of the masters impales
the dreams.
Yet, the circle that remains the same, but the horizon is just to come.
The wind shall tell the truth and the African Experiences will be a drum of remembrance.

Just a young black boy

Cinquain about the Civil Rights Movement
A movement ignited by Parks
A peaceful dream promoted by Dr. King
An education organized by Clark
A call to let freedom ring
The first poem is about the murder of Emmett Till. Till’s tragic tale is described in the Eyes on the Prize:
Awakenings and in the study guide. On August 28, 1955, “Emmett Till, a black boy from Chicago visiting
his uncle Moses Wright in Mississippi, is murdered for inappropriately addressing a white woman (page
14).” Even though Till’s murderers eventually confessed to the crime, they were never charged for his
murder (because of the no double jeopardy clause in the fifth amendment of the Constitution). This is
one of many instances of injustice against African Americans in the south during the Civil Rights
Movement. However, even now in the 21st century, African Americans are still facing prejudices and
being killed by cops, the people who are supposed to protect them.
The second poet highlights three big names of the Civil Rights Movement, Rosa Parks, Dr. Martin Luther
King Jr, and Septima Clark. The Eyes on the Prize videos mention King a lot, because he was quite a
significant man, and The Awakenings and Ready from Within discusses Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks sparked
the Montgomery bus boycott by refusing to give up her seat to a white person. Septima Clark’s impact
on the Civil Rights Movement with her citizenship schools was the main topic of Ready from Within.
Clark played a crucial role in educating many African American.

8.1 Architecture
Data science is a set of fundamental principles that guide the extraction of knowledge from data. Data mining is the extraction of knowledge from data via technologies that incorporate these principles.
Like many enterprises, Digital Diskus has many applications for the various processes that must be executed to run its business, from finance and accounting to sales, marketing, procurement, inventory, supply chain, and so forth. A great deal of data is generated across these systems. But, unfortunately, as a business grows into an enterprise, most of its business systems will be discreet. Getting a holistic view of the health of the business can be stymied by the organic growth of applications and data stores.

Figure 8.2 Business analytics data interactions.
Figure 8.2 is a drill down view of the data gathering interactions of the business analytics system within the enterprise architecture. Is the visualization in Figure 8.2 perhaps a bit easier to understand? To reiterate, we are looking at the business analysis and intelligence system, which must touch almost every data gathering and transaction-processing system that exists in the internal network. And, as was noted, business analytics listens to the message bus, which includes messages that are sent from less trusted zones.

Figure 8.3 Business analytics system architecture.
As we move to system specificity, if we have predefined the relevant threats, we can apply the threats’ goals to the system under analysis. This application of goals leads directly on to the “AS” of ATASM: attack surfaces. Understanding your adversaries’ targets and objectives provides insight into possible attack surfaces and perhaps which attack surfaces are most important and should be prioritized.
It’s useful to understand a highly connected system like business analytics in situ, that is, as the system fits into its larger enterprise architectural context. However, we don’t yet have the architecture of the system itself. Figure 8.3 presents the logical components of this business analytics system.
There are five major components of the system:
1. Data Analysis processing
2. Reporting module
3. Data gathering module
4. Agents which are co-located with target data repositories
5. A management console

Unit VII
1. Suppose a firm uses sugar in a product that you purchase. The firm vertically integrates by purchasing sugar farms that produce the sugar organically and in a way that makes it also sustainable for the environment. How would that influence your demand for that product? What other purpose than profitability might cause the firm to make this decision to vertically integrate in this way? 200 words min
2.
Identify a skill that you learned in this course, and explain how you can apply it to increase success in your career in a real-world scenario. 200 words3.
Instructions
Your assignment is to provide a final report for Ruby Red Movie Theater in which you address the concerns that have been outlined in the previous six units of this class, indicating any outsourcing or vertical integration options Ruby Red Movie Theater may be able to implement.
Be specific regarding the analysis you performed in each area of study. Your recommendations for improvements for the theater should be based on economic theory and your analysis. Your complete analysis of the theater, the industry, and opportunities that may exist are crucial for the future profitability of the theater.
Revise the information from previous assignments as needed and pull everything together to create a cohesive, comprehensive report. What this means is that this final report should be original updated work, though it is based on your previous assignments. Do not just copy and paste your previous assignments into one paper. Also, be sure to incorporate any suggestions your instructor made in your previous assignments.
New information will be added for Unit VII, which will focus on the information provided in this unit. The topics for this section will include why firms exist, the factors that create a situation where vertical integration is desirable, and why firms would use outsourcing, as well as how this information can be applied to the Ruby Red Movie Theatre.
The following is a list of items and sections you should include in your final report. Replace the unit numbers with appropriate titles for the information in each section.

Space ... the final frontier. So, as I am sure everyone knows, .docxDustiBuckner14
Space ... the final frontier. So, as I am sure everyone knows, the National Aeronautical Space Administration (NASA) is located right here in H-town. OK, well, technically in Clear Lake. One rarely thinks of space exploration as an extension of government, but remember, one of President John F. Kennedy's challenges promises to the nation was sending an American to the moon.
Well recently, with the call to put an astronaut on Mars by President George W. Bush, and with the founding of SpaceX by Elon Musk, the discussion about space exploration has re-emerged. I would like you to address the following debate. What extent should the government use tax-payer dollars to fund space exploration? Should we leave space travel up to the private sector, or should the government invest more NASA mission. Perhaps there is a healthy balance between the two? What are your thoughts.
Below are some recent (and old) articles about this subject. In addition, I have also linked a report that NASA contributed to about the benefits of space exploration, and a finding by the Congressional Budget Office suggesting how money could be spent elsewhere.
you must reference at least one article correctly in the body of the post (not simply cutting and pasting the URL after your post), respond respectfully to one-classmate, use college level grammar and sentence structure, and be at least 250 words long.

In business, "corporate culture" refers to the rules, customs, and beliefs that all employees follow and are taught (Wheelen, Thomas., & Hunger, J. David, 2014). However, in today's world, the CEO, CFO, and other top executives' actions and attitudes have a direct impact on the company's culture. FedEx has a culture that demonstrates to its employees and customers how much they are valued. FedEx prioritizes service, people, honesty, innovation, responsibility, safety, and loyalty (FedEx, 2019). FedEx understands the importance of a positive work environment and a strong corporate culture in order to achieve operational success and provide excellent customer service. As a result, FedEx has implemented a "People-Service-Profit strategy" (P-S-P) and continues to promote a high-performance culture. (FedEx, 2019). Frederick Smith, the company's current CEO and founder, came up with this idea because he believed that investing in employees would result in better work and, as a result, financial success. This philosophy emphasizes the importance of treating employees with respect and dignity, as well as rewarding team members based on how well they perform their duties.
FedEx believes that its employees are the best way to make big decisions, and it attributes its success to its innovative culture. Because service providers' employees are the ones who directly interact with customers, this philosophy is especially important in the service industry. Training, giving employees power, and providing incentives are all critical in a company whose culture is based on this philosophy (Peoplematters, 2019). FedEx Corporation's plan to make more money, in my opinion, is consistent with its core value of putting people first. People who are enthusiastic about their jobs are always more creative and productive. On the review site Glassdoor, current FedEx employees gave CEO Frederick Smith an 84% approval rating, and 73% said they would recommend working there to a friend (Glassdoor, 2019). FedEx is the company most likely to hire these individuals as a result of this. In addition, some FedEx freight drivers chose not to join a union in 2017, indicating a favorable work environment (Dcvelocity, 2017). FedEx Corporation employs approximately 300,000 people in over 250 countries and territories. As a result, there are numerous programs in place to thank employees for their efforts. This demonstrates how much FedEx cares about and values its employees.
There is a list of awards and recognition programs on the main website, including "The Humanitarian Award," "The Five Star," "Bravo Zulu," and "Purple Promise" (FedEx, 2019). A five-star rating is the highest you can achieve at FedEx. The manager gives the staff theater tickets and quick cash bonuses in the form of Bravo Zulu. Pilots, couriers, customer service representatives, and meteorologists are among those who benefit from the "purple promise.

THE RESEARCH PROPOSAL BUS8100 8
Chapter 2 - Literature Review
The purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to examine whether relationships
exist among job performance, transformational leadership style, and employee turnover intention
in the United States. Interest grew in the past 30 years, combining transformational leadership
and employee turnover intention, based on the assumptions that employees are likely to be
influenced by their leader’s behavior (Gyensare et al., 2016). Gyensare et al. (2016) noted
transformational leadership style was a key variable in lowered employee turnover intention and
enhanced employee well-being. Buil et al. (2019) stated job performance was an organizational
benefit deriving from transformational leadership style.
This literature review was structured to provide key concepts and related factors to the
research variables. In the first section, the researcher defined job performance and measurements
related to this performance. This included the 360-feedback and performance appraisal. The next
section discussed and measured transformational leadership style followed by employee turnover
intention. The fourth section covered contrasting and supporting theories relative to my
theoretical framework. The final section entailed profitability and a discussion of the auto
manufacturing industry.
The existing research in the literature review focused on the relationships between the
variables of employee turnover intention, transformational leadership style, and job performance.
The top journals used include the International Journal of Academic Research in Business and
Social Sciences, International Journal of Productivity and performance management, Journal of
Managerial Psychology, International Journal of Business and Management, Journal of Human
Resources in Hospitality & Tourism, International Journal of Business Administration,

To locate research for this study, EbscoHosts and Education Resources Information

intention, transformational leadership style, factors of employee turnover intention, job
performance impact, employee turnover and job performance, transformational and

The Automotive Industry
In the early days, the majority of U.S. manufacturing was centered in a small part of the
Northwest and eastern side of the Midwest (Krugman, 1991). The early automotive
manufacturers primarily put together the completed product by components and parts brought
from outside suppliers (Peterson, 1987). Henry Ford established a vision of the automobile by

REPLY A KASEY CI was taught at an early age that women are to be.docxDustiBuckner14
REPLY A KASEY C
I was taught at an early age that women are to be respected and be treated with kindness. My family has taught me the importance of treating women with equality because we are all humans that deserve the same respect and opportunities. I believe that what my parents taught me was beneficial because it made me better as a person and broadened my view of the world. I personally don’t call myself a feminist and I can provide information to as why. Feminism is summed up as equal rights for women, that’s the main idea. I believe in equal rights for everyone, more so women of minorities. It doesn’t matter who is around me, that is my stance on things and my answer will not change. I feel the most important issue right now involving gender equality is allowing transgender athletes to compete in the opposite gender sports. Lia Thomas, a transgender swimmer that recently won the women’s national championship was seen on the podium while the three female runners-up made a separate podium off to the side. I feel it depends on the person and how they were raised when it comes to gender equality. A female could be given more influence or power than me and I would see nothing wrong with it as long as they aren’t abusing said power or using it for negative reasons. I feel the same when it comes to men and power or influence, they may have or obtain. Some men may be threatened by women having more influence or power and I believe that is due to how they were raised. I wish another gender that believes it is so easy to be a man would realize that it isn’t and consider certain issues. Men must deal with stereotypes every single day, many of those stereotypes being associated with men’s feelings. In 2020, men had died by suicide 3.88x more than women, most of those men being in their mid-thirties and forties followed by a large number of men in their mid-twenties. Men also must deal with stereotypes associated with us that are based on how one man acted, we are all summarized as the same due to that one bad person.
REPLY B Roberto V
When looking at my family, the answer is a little more muddled than expected. I was raised alongside three sisters and so when growing up, I was not open to differences between us. My siblings and I grew up as equals despite the difference in gender between us. So there was almost no reason to expect life to be different between us when looking at it through the eyes of my child self. Feminism, to me, is a woman wanting equivalency between themselves and men. I think it follows the same principle of all things, too much of one thing is never a good thing. Wanting to be equal does not mean seeking superiority. Well considering everything I have learned; I would call myself a feminist. All my life I have lived with the notion that I am equal to my sisters and seeing that that truth is sullied by people who remain ignorant is bothersome. I would not answer different regardless of the presence of my family. I believe t.

Relationship of Transformational and
Transactional Leadership with
Employee Influencing Strategies
RONALD J. DELUGA
Bryant College
The purpose of the study was to compare manager-employee influencing dynamics
within the framework of transformational and transactional leadership theory. A
total of 117 employees of a manufacturing firm anonymously completed the
Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire-Form 5 (Bass, 1985a) and the Profile of
Organizational Influence Strategies-Form Μ (Kipnis & Schmidt, 1982). Multiple
regression analyses supported the predictions that (1) perceived transactional
leadership would be more strongly inversely related to reported employee upward
influencing behavior than transformational leadership, and (2) transformational
leadership would be more closely associated with leader effectiveness and employee
satisfaction with the leader than transactional leadership. Results are examined in
terms of the apparent volatile nature of transactional leadership-employee influ
encing systems. Transformational leadership-employee influencing interactions are
viewed as more effective in promoting organizational productivity. The practical
implications of these findings are also discussed.
Effective leadership implies an understanding of how managers
and employees influence one another (Yates, 1985). Of particular
importance to the practicing manager is the relationship of leader
ship style to employee influencing behavior. Could the manager’s
leadership style encourage constructive or destructive employee
influencing? That is, in what ways could this interaction affect such
critical organizational outcomes as manager effectiveness and
employee satisfaction with the manager? The implications of these
influencing dynamics on organizational productivity and employee
developmental needs seem apparent. Thus the purpose of this
study was to investigate the nature of managerial leadership and
employee influencing systems in a manufacturing enviomment.

approaches offering an explanation as to how managers-employees
influence one another (Bass, 1981,1985a; Burns, 1978; Hollander,
1985).
Burns (1978) argues that leadership can be understood best as
either a transactional or a transformational process. Transactional
leadership suggests that most managers engage in a bargaining
relationship with employees (Hollander, 1978). Bass (1981, 1985a)
cites contingent reward and management-by-exception as two
factors that emerge with transactional leadership. Contingent
reward describes the familiar work-for-pay agreement. Employees
are told what they need to do to obtain rewards. Management-by-
exception characterizes how the manager reacts primarily to
employee errors. The manager exerts corrective ac.

Woefully, the only person I know in the world who wouldn’t give me hell for my self-destructive habits. That’s the thing I admire about her. She doesn’t judge, preach or care to tell me to mend my ways.
“Where are you?,” I call her up.
“What happened?”
“I need $150, I don’t have any money.”
She hangs up.
Fuck.
I light another fag, and stare at the sky. There are no stars. Only a blanket of city pollution. How lovely would it be if you could get high on air pollution. Maybe I’d move to Kanpur then, WHO says it is the most polluted city in the world.
Last Time
Romancing the good times
With smoke in our eyes
When love was a sand dune
And sirens were lullabies
We burn our feet on buried embers
Tourniquets and shattered glass
And lie this time will be the last.
Day After Fucking Day
I feel like a wind-up soldier. Turn the key and I'll march. I can feel every single gear turning in my body.
Wake up. Stay in bed for three hours. Finally check the mailbox wearing the same pajamas I've had on for the last two days. Three bills and two science fiction books. Back inside, quickly.
Order food. Kills my wallet but fuck dicking around and choosing food for an hour. Lay on couch. Watch TV until I hear a knock on the door. Back on the couch.
It's fucking disgusting. I have six instruments in the other room collecting dust. I have a jar of pre-workout that I've only opened once. My longboard hangs in the closet, haven't used it since college. The book I've been writing hasn't progressed in months. This couch can't complain though...
Is this depression or laziness? I'm notorious for both, though I wonder if they're one in the same.
I don't know a single person in the state I'm living in. No human interaction whatsoever. I blame that on my job, driving around for countless hours in that shitty van all over the country. Pays well, get some cool stories, cool sights. It just takes up all my time. It'll be a year in December. Not speaking to anyone save for myself and the few phone calls I have with family and my boss. I don't trust anyone around me because I don't know them. I don't leave the apartment with.

Re: Business Planning and Strategic Planning
Confidential
Business and Strategic planning are necessary to increase revenue and address potential risks that can negatively affect client relationships. Both can also help healthcare organizations prepare for future disruptions or crises.
A business plan is a framework of strategies and initiatives to start a new business. It outlines the services planned to be provided and how you intend to run your company ("Business plan vs. strategic plan," 2022). It details the financial aspects of the healthcare organization, such as its revenue streams, operational procedures, and resource allocation ("Business plan vs. strategic plan," 2022). It specifies when and how the organization plan to see a benefit from the investment. A business plan has short- or mid-term goals that define the steps necessary to achieve them. It usually lasts up to 12 months.
A strategic plan, in contrast to a business plan, details the objectives of an organization and the steps it will take to achieve those objectives. ("Business plan vs. strategic plan," 2022). A strategic plan is a business framework that existing companies implement when they want to improve their business processes and streamline their operations ("Business plan vs. strategic plan," 2022). It defines your organization's future, setting goals that will move you toward that future and determining the major projects you'll take on to meet those goals. It also includes sustaining that strategy focus over three to five years.
Adopting telehealth and telemedicine services is a focus area in the healthcare industry that could help our company increase revenue and client satisfaction. More outstanding communication with our clients' patients through telehealth and telemedicine services can lead to improved revenue cycle management, increasing revenue (Adepoju et al., 2022). One way to do this is through virtual check-ins, a messaging function within a telehealth platform, or video visits with patients that can save time and avoid unnecessary office visits. The benefits of telemedicine go beyond offering convenience to patients and reducing revenue loss for the clinic. Telemedicine is a promising investment that may prove to be worthwhile in reducing overall healthcare costs (Adepoju et al., 2022)
To ensure a strategic telemedicine plan is adopted in the organization, the following questions below must be considered and addressed appropriately:
· Is our telehealth strategy embedded in our organizational strategy? ("Strengthening your telehealth," n.d.)
· Do we understand patient needs and preferences around v.

To locate research for this study, EbscoHosts and Education Resources Information

intention, transformational leadership style, factors of employee turnover intention, job
performance impact, employee turnover and job performance, transformational and

job performance, employee turnover and profit, transformational leadership theory, and
measuring employee turnover intention.

2. W1: Selection of Artifacts
Your portfolio is a way to gain your competitive advantage in
the marketplace. Throughout the course, you will be editing
previous coursework and uploading to your portfolio. In
addition, you will create new artifacts (items that you want to
showcase) to include in your portfolio. Your portfolio should
include a diverse collection of artifacts that represent you.
Consider how you will use the portfolio after the completion of
the course? How will you use the final product to enhance
your personal branding?
For the second part of our discussion this week, please answer
the following questions. Based on your reading and
understanding, how would you describe an ePortfolio? How do
you develop one? What are signature assignments and how do
you select the best one to include in your portfolio? A list of
the signature assignments is located in the resources area. Will
you include videos and pictures?
Be creative as there is not a right or wrong response. Provide
details of the artifacts you would like to include. Consider what
will be of value to the person reviewing the artifacts. When you
respond to your peers, consider artifacts they may not have
included.

W2: Portfolium
Did you know that APUS has partnerships with employers that
use Portfolium? Did you know that Portfolium also has
subscriptions from other employers? Portfolium allows
prospective employers to search based on skills. This is
different from looking at a resume. How do you think having
employers being able to search for skills for a possible
opportunity over reviewing your resume helps you?

Portfolium? The Portfolio tab will be where you post your
artifacts and signature assignment. The artifacts/assignment
should be tagged for one or more skills. Also, employers will
not read a long assignment. You need to post a short blog, a
short PowerPoint or a short personal video for each
artifact/assignment that provides a synopsis of the assignment
and explains how the artifact/assignment supports the skill.
What do you think you will do for each artifact/assignment?
Why?

General Social Survey Dataset
According to Frankfort-Nachmias et al. (2020), measures of
central tendency describe the average or typical distribution of a
dataset. An analysis was conducted on two variables from The
General Social Survey dataset. The General Social Survey is a
survey that monitors and studies the trends in behavior,
attitudes, and practices of United States residents.(NORC, n.d.).
The data collected includes information such as respondent’s
age, citizenship, sexual orientation and more. A histogram was
created to report the descriptive analysis of the respondents
family income, while a pie chart was created to report the
analysis of the respondents race.
Descriptive Analysis of Family Income in Constant $
Frankfort-Nachmias et al. (2020) notes a histogram is used to
show the differences in percentages or frequencies in categories
with an ordinal or interval-ratio level of measurement.
A histogram was used to analyze the variable labeled Family
Income in Constant $. Considered as a continuous variable, the
level of measurement is interval-ratio. Frankfort-Nachmias et
al. (2020) asserts that an interval-ratio level of measurement is
a variable that can be rank-ordered, and the measurements must
7. be equally spaced. This dataset shows that 2,314 respondents
provided an answer to this question., and 224 respondents did
not provide an answer. The mean of this dataset is 33,965.68,
the mode is 31,928, and the median is 21,285.00. The mean
family income in constant $ is 33,965 indicating that the
average income of the respondents fell below the national
average of 50,200 in 2009 (National Center for Education
Statistics, 2010). This also suggests that the sample is not
representative of the population. The mean is referred to as the
center of gravity of distribution because it incorporates all
scores (Frankfort-Nachmias et al., 2020). Because the mean
incorporates all scores into the calculation, it is sensitive to
extreme scores in the distribution. Therefore, it is my belief that
using the mean is the best measure for central tendency in this
dataset. The differences in the mean, median, and mode suggest
that the variable is not normally distributed and this is also
indicated in the curve shown in Figure 1. The curve is slightly
pulled to the left. The standard deviation for Family Income in
Constant $ is 35,537.075, and relatively close to the mean. This
suggests that most of the reported incomes are fairly similar.
This is also evident in Figure 1. The range of the data set is
134,581, while the minimum is 237 and the maximum is
134,817. While the spread of the range is great, it is not a true
indicator of the income of the respondents.
Figure 1
Family Income in Constant $
Descriptive Analysis of Race of Respondent
8. Frankfort-Nachmias et al. (2020) asserts that a pie chart is used
to display the differences in frequencies or percentages in
categories with a nominal or ordinal level of measurement. The
slices of the pie chart represent the proportion of the total in
each category (Wagner, 2020). A pie chart was chosen to
display the data because it displays the percentages of the race
of respondents in an easy-to-read visual display. The race of
respondent is considered a categorical variable. The level of
measurement used is nominal. According to Frankfort-Nachmias
et al. (2020), a nominal level of measurement uses numbers or
symbols to categorize the data for the purpose of naming,
labeling, or classifying the observations. The data
communicates that there were 2,538 participants in this dataset
that provided responses to the question, and none missing. The
mode is 1 which is supported by the pie graph showing that the
group with the highest frequency is the white group. Out of
2,538 respondents, there were 1,890 respondents that selected
white, while 386 selected black, and 262 selected other. This
suggests that there was a lack of variability and thus the groups
are not equally distributed. The data collected from the dataset
can be used to address racial disparities. In The majority of
respondents to this survey were white. The data suggests that
other races were underrepresented. The results of the data does
not show the true habits, behavior, and attitudes of U.S.
residents. This can affect access to healthcare, education,
employment, and more. A potential research question this
variable may help to answer and drive social change is to what
extent does race affect income?

Descriptive analysis for a continuous variable
According to Frankfort-Nachmias et al., 2020,
researchers incorporate central tendency and variability
measures to describe their data distribution effectively. Since
1972, the General Social Survey (GSS) has provided politicians,
10. policymakers, and scholars with a clear and unbiased
perspective on what American society. The GSS collects data on
contemporary American society to monitor and explain trends in
opinions, attitudes and behaviors (University of Chicago, About
the GSS). The General Social Survey dataset provided
responses from N=507 participants with a mean of 45967.22. A
continuous variable is defined as a variable can take an
uncountable set of values or infinite set of values (Byjus, 2020).
Data from the general social survey labeled (CONRINC) falls
under a continuous variable and contains information from 310
participants, out of which 197 missing.
Table 1 below provides us with the mean of 45967.2,
the better measure for central tendency is the median 33255.00
and a mode of 40645. In this display, the standard deviation
calculates at 41388.340 indicating 68% of the participants’
reported income is between 0 and 41388.340.
Table 1.
.
The data from figure 1 below, indicates a positive skewness of
1.496. A positively skewed distribution with the tail on its right
side with a positive distribution greater than 0 (What is
skewness in Statistics?: Statistics for data science 2020). As
figure 1 depicts, the value of mean is the greatest one followed
by median and then by mode.
Figure 1

Descriptive analysis for a categorical variable
Descriptive statistics is used to analyze data for a single
categorical variable include frequencies, percentages, fractions
and/or relative frequencies obtained from the variable's
frequency distribution table (Introduction to statistics:
Descriptive Statistics 2021). The General Social Survey dataset
provided data in Table 2 below shows, the frequency
distribution for race of participants. In this survey, participants
identify themselves as one of three race categories: white at
66.9%, black 83.2 %, other 100 %. A pie chart is chosen
because it is visually simpler than other types of graphs and is
easier to check of the reasonableness or accuracy of
calculations. According to Table 2, the data describes of 507
participants, all participants answered.
The pie graph (Figure 2) below, clearly delineates the whites as
the largest group, which depicts an uneven distribution of
variability. This data may affect social change in future
research, if data is collected from more diverse communities.

Discussion: Central Tendency and Variability
Understanding descriptive statistics and their variability is a
fundamental aspect of statistical analysis. On their own,
descriptive statistics tell us how frequently an observation
occurs, what is considered “average”, and how far data in our
sample deviate from being “average.” With descriptive
statistics, we are able to provide a summary of characteristics
from both large and small datasets. In addition to the valuable
information they provide on their own, measures of central
tendency and variability become important components in many
of the statistical tests that we will cover. Therefore, we can
think about central tendency and variability as the cornerstone
to the quantitative structure we are building.
For this Discussion, you will examine central tendency and
variability based on two separate variables. You will also
explore the implications for positive social change based on the
results of the data.
To prepare for this Discussion:
34. · Review this week’s Learning Resources and the Descriptive
Statistics media program.
· For additional support, review the Skill Builder: Visual
Displays for Categorical Variables and the Skill Builder: Visual
Displays for Continuous Variables, which you can find by
navigating back to your Blackboard Course Home Page. From
there, locate the Skill Builder link in the left navigation pane.
· Review the Chapter 4 of the Wagner text and the examples in
the SPSS software related to central tendency and variability.
· From the General Social Survey dataset found in this week’s
Learning Resources, use the SPSS software and choose one
continuous and one categorical variable Note: this dataset will
be different from your Assignment dataset).
· As you review, consider the implications for positive social
change based on the results of your data.By Day 3
Post, present, and report a descriptive analysis for your
variables, specifically noting the following:
For your continuous variable:
1. Report the mean, median, and mode.
2. What might be the better measure for central tendency? (i.e.,
mean, median, or mode) and why?
3. Report the standard deviation.
4. How variable are the data?
5. How would you describe this data?
6. What sort of research question would this variable help
answer that might inform social change?
Post the following information for your categorical variable:
7. A frequency distribution.
8. An appropriate measure of variation.
9. How variable are the data?
10. How would you describe this data?
11. What sort of research question would this variable help
answer that might inform social change?
Be sure to support your Main Post and Response Post with
reference to the week’s Learning Resources and other scholarly
evidence in APA Style.By Day 5
35. Respond to at least one colleagues’ post with a comment on the
presentation and interpretation of their analysis. In your
response, address the following questions:
12. Was the presentation of results clear? If so, provide some
specific comments on why. If not, provide constructive
suggestions.
13. Are you able to understand how the results might relate
back to positive social change? Do you think there are other
aspects of positive social change related to the results?
