The Zambian Institute of Agriculture (ZAI) began offering a distance-learning diploma course in agriculture in 2017. The course was delayed in starting due to authorization issues with the government. As a result, some potential students and an international instructor could not participate. The first session in August 2017 had only 8 students and was taught by the founder of ZAI and a local farmer. Future sessions are planned with the next in December 2017. ZAI hopes that flexibility from instructors and funding support will help overcome challenges in stabilizing and continuing the new course.
