My Top Picks
Introduction
There can be no greater pleasure in life than enjoying a
fine meal in a fabulous restaurant.
When you combine this with a fantastic cruise you
create a dining experience that is truly unforgettable.
In recent years some of the world’s finest chefs have
teamed up with some cruise lines to develop exciting
menus and dining concepts.
Throughout this post I will explore my favourite
restaurants at sea.
Todd English’s
 One of my all-time favourite restaurants on-board a cruise
ship is Todd English’s on-board the Queen Mary 2
 The restaurant and menu was developed in conjunction
with celebrity chef, Todd English, whose distinctive style can
be seen throughout the menu
 Located on Deck 8 of the Queen Mary 2, the restaurant
offers a sophisticated, candle light dining setting. My
favourite dish was a venison loin on a bed of barley which
was unbelievably tender and succulent.
Avon Resturant
The Avon restaurant on-board Fred Olsen Cruises Balmoral
Ship is also worthy of a mention
 The Avon Restaurant is located on deck 10 and is decorated
in a sleek and contemporary style. One of my favourite
aspects of this restaurant is the amazing floor to ceiling
windows that provide fabulous views out to sea while you
dine
With regards to the food, there is an amazing range of fish,
fowl, red meat, pasta and vegetarian options on the menu
which are all cooked in a distinctly British manner.
For anyone who is about to depart on a Balmoral Cruise I
encourage them to visit the Avon Restaurant and sample
the Lamb Loin Provencale.
Qsine
Celebrity Cruises appointed Chef Jacques Van Staden as
their vice president of Food and Beverage Operations. The
result of this appointment is a dining experience that is hard
to match either on land or at sea.

Menus and wine lists on iPads and dishes such as Sushi
Lollipops create a fun and unique dining experience.
Red Ginger
Finally I would like to mention Red Ginger on-board the
Oceania Marina ship
The menu was developed by world renowned master chef
Jacques Pepin and includes classic Asian dishes with a
modern twist
The actual restaurant itself deserves a mention itself. It is
fabulously decorated with a distinctly oriental feel and
creates an amazing atmosphere to enjoy a fine meal.
