Le curve di carica di questo modello sono la Wa (carica a corrente decrescente) e la WoWa (descritta a
destra)(carica veloce a due livelli di corrente), conformi entrambe alla direttiva DIN41774. La curva di carica
Wa, è caratterizzata da un andamento decrescente della corrente di carica al crescere della tensione di
batteria, quindi avviene a potenza costante. Per ottenere una carica adeguata della batteria il caricabat-
terie deve essere in grado di fornire una curva di carica il più possibile fedele alla curva di carica teorica,
che prevede una corrente iniziale di carica pari al 16% della capacità della batteria ed un andamento de-
crescente, come riportato sopra. Con questo tipo di caricabatterie con curva standard Wa (DIN41774), è
opportuno determinare la corrente di carica necessaria, calcolando il 16% della capacità in amperora (Ah)
della batteria (ad esempio: per una batteria da 600Ah, si utilizza un caricabatterie da 100A).
In alternativa alla “Wa” la curva di carica WoWa è usata per ridurre i tempi di ricarica delle batterie.
E’ un’evoluzione della curva Wa in quanto, per ridurre il tempo di carica, viene incrementato il valore della
corrente iniziale di carica fino al 20-40% della capacità della batteria.
Questo incremento (rispetto alla curva Wa), viene mantenuto fino a quando la tensione della batteria rag-
giunge un valore pari a 2.40 Volt/elemento. Dopodichè la corrente viene ridotta al valore previsto dalla
curva Wa, onde prevenire inutili e/o pericolosi surriscaldamenti. Se si sceglie questa soluzione più veloce
(WoWa) è sempre opportuno comunicare al costruttore la capacità della batteria da caricare ed il tempo a
disposizione per la ricarica, poichè, come descritto sopra, ammette una corrente iniziale variabile.
Alternatively to the Wa, the WoWa is used to reduce the charging time of the batteries.
This kind of charging curve is an evolution of the Wa, in fact, to reduce the charge time, the value of the
initial charging current is increased up to 20-40% of the battery capacity.
This increase (compared to the Wa curve), is maintained until the battery voltage reaches a value equal to
2.40 Volts / element. Then the current is reduced to the predicted value of the Wa curve, in order to prevent
unnecessary and / or dangerous over-heating. If you choose this faster solution (WoWa), it is always
necessary to provide the capacity of the batteries to be charged, and the time available for charging, as
described above, allows a variable initial current.
The charging curves of this model are Wa (decreasing current charge) and WoWa (see on the right) (fast
charge with two current levels), both compliant with DIN 41774. The Wa charging curve, is features by a
downward trend of the charging current when the battery voltage increases, therefore it takes constant
power. To obtain a suitable charge of the battery, the charger must be able to provide a charging curve
as faithful as possible to the theoretical charging curve, which provides an initial charging current equal
to 16% of the battery capacity, and a declining trend, as indicated above. With this kind of charger with
standard curve Wa (DIN 41774), it is necessary to determine the charging current required, by calculating
the 16% in ampere hours (Ah) of the capacity of the battery (for example: for a 600Ah battery, using a
charger with 100A).
