PropsProps for a horror movie genre include weapons such as knifes. Often masks and items like mirrors and fake blood are included. These props are fairly simple and easy to access which would make it an easy genre to work with in terms of props.Music and sound effectsThe music is often very discordant and creepy. Sound effects include such things like screaming etc. They would be easy to create ConclusionI think horror is a genre which could be quite simple to create and it would be realistic to be made for my project. HorrorEditing paceIt will be a fast editing pace to create tension and unrest. Safety Due to the fact of props such as knives and remote locations safety issues would have to be looked intoLocationsLocations for a horror film are usually quite remote or secluded. They are usually not in places where there is a lot of people. They are often hard and creepy giving an unsafe feeling to it. They also regularly happen within peoples home changing the perception of safety within a house. It would be possible to find locations that are suitable, although it would involve a lot of organisation and preparation for filming.CharactersThere will always be someone who is evil so this will involve a character who is fast, scary and often with a low, creepy voice. There will also be the character/s that are like any other person. They want to appear like any other person so we all imagine it could happen to us so we can empathise and fear for the characters.Type of dialogueNot a lot of speech – more visual. Yet usually still some dialogue of very blunt, often unsettling words.
PropsProps will include weapons, cars and sometimes explosions. It wouldn’t be easy to fulfil this criteriaMusic and sound effectsIt will be a mixture of musical backgrounds. They will be fast with a strong beat. Sound effects will include sounds made in fights etc.ConclusionI think action would be too difficult to work in. It demands special effects and a lot of locations and advanced props. ActionEditing paceIt will be a fast editing pace mirroring the quick story lineSafety Due to the fact of props such as knives and numerous locations safety issues would have to be looked intoCharactersThere will always be antagonists and protagonists. With often teams and groups of similar characters such as “a mob” etc. there will usually be one main character but will often have a very large cast.LocationsLocations for an action film will be diverse with a wide range. There will be a lot of different locations which would be very difficult to organise and replicate.Type of dialogueNot a lot of dialogue and it has more action and plays heavily on special effects, yet still has some.
PropsProps for a romantic comedy have very diverse props. It could be a range of things but all are relatively easily sourced. ConclusionI think rom com is a genre which could be quite simple to create due to the simplistic nature to the filming, not requiring a big budget to create.Music and sound effectsThe music is often well known and talks about love. The music will have a nice rhythm and brings meaning to the scene Editing paceIt will be regularly slow editing pace due to the often romantic nature of some of the scenes. Rom coms will often include a kiss which would require a slow editing pace.Romantic ComediesSafety There wouldn’t be many safety issues at all.CharactersThere will usually be two main characters that will usually be destined to be together and the audience will route for them to be together.LocationsLocations for a romantic comedy can be very diverse and could be in numerous locations. The places wouldn’t be in a horrible setting as it would usually be in somewhere romantic and pretty. Type of dialogueAs it is a comedy as well there would be funny moments and also have romantic, loving dialogue..
PropsProps for a crime movie includes weapons and a “crime scene style” moment, which would include blood, costume etc. if there was someone investigating the crime they would have to look professional.Music and sound effectsThe music is often very discordant and creepy. Sound effects include such things like screaming etc. They would be easy to create ConclusionI think crime is a genre which could be quite simple to create and it would be realistic to be made for my project. Editing paceIt would be a mixture of both fast and slow editing CrimeSafety Due to the fact of props such as knives and numerous locations safety issues would have to be looked intoLocationsLocations would include crime scenes and other places in which would be easy to replicate and source. Some scenes might be hard to find but others would be quite easy.CharactersThere would be numerous characters within this genre. Both with bad and good characteristics and personalities.Type of dialogueA lot of legal dialogue might be used including some very serious and sinister conversations.
