The Government of India has held 11 rounds of negotiations with protesting farmers' unions to address their concerns about three new farm laws. While thousands of farmers have been agitating for over two months, the Government has appealed for vulnerable groups like women, children and elders to leave the protest sites due to cold weather and COVID-19. Some farmer protesters have died or fallen ill during the agitation. The main demands of the unions relate to repealing the three farm laws. The implementation of the laws has currently been stayed by the Supreme Court.
