2. According to Audi’s Head of Design, Marc Lichte, this throws up
both challenges and opportunities: “By rethinking, and thinking
outside the box, we create a shift from classic car design to a
user-centered, holistic and unique vehicle experience design,”
he says.
Abstract
Seeking for innovation leadership, automotive manufacturers apply Design Thinking to enhance their
competitiveness. Design Thinking is a multidisciplinary team-based methodology that adopts design
principles to business management. Design Thinking teams produce innovative outcomes
By working together in stimulating environments.

4. Examples
1. Different Driving modes
Most modern cars are controlled by an Engine Control Unit (ECU) a sophisticated system that can control the
car’s main components including engine transmission, suspension, steering and braking. This has allowed car
manufacturers to offer different driving modes that change the
handling, dynamics and efficiency of a vehicle at the touch of a
button. This has essentially enabled manufacturers to offer one
car that can fulfil multiple roles more seamlessly.
For example, when on your commute, you may wish to be in
the most efficient drive mode setting to ensure the best fuel
efficiency. However, on a long journey, you may prefer quicker
responses and better performance from your car.
Thanks to different driving modes, this is now all possible from
just one car.
5. 2. Operating thetailgate with foot movement
When your hands are occupied, you can open or close the tailgate with a single foot movement under the car's rear
bumper. The function is an option and varies depending on the car model.
Use foot movement
To facilitate the opening or closing of the tailgate, it can be operated
with a foot movement under the rear bumper. The car must be
fitted with keyless locking/unlocking to be able to use this function.
If your car is fitted with this option, the door handles have a recess
on the outside for locking and a touch-sensitive surface on the
inside for unlocking.
6. 3. Types of Roofs (Sunroof, Moonroof, Panoramic Sunroof)
Cars with panoramic sunroofs appeal to buyers of all ages for
many reasons. Those who desire a convertible-style experience
without the lack of roof structure can enjoy the open air at the
touch of a button. Panoramic sunroofs open much like regular
sunroofs and allow for a great view of the stars and
sky.
The sunroof is not so common in cars in this era,
but it consists of a solid body-colored panel than
can be tilted or can be completely removed.
A moonroof is considered a type of
sunroof. But a moonroof usually has a
tinted glass panel, much like an extra window,
on top of the car. It is designed to let in light
without having to let in the elements.
7. 4. Cruise control
It is a system that accurately maintains the speed set by the driver without any external intervention. It automatically
controls the speed of a car and only allows the vehicle to hit a speed set by the driver. It does not allow the car to cross
that speed limit. This feature has become common among modern cars. You can even find this feature in the top-spec
variants of some of the affordable hatchbacks and sedans.
Some advantages of cruise control include :
•It is useful for long drives (reducing driver fatigue, improving
comfort by allowing positioning changes more safely) across
highways and sparsely populated roads.
•Some drivers use it to avoid violating speed limits. A driver who
otherwise tends to unconsciously increase speed over the
course of a highway journey may avoid speeding.
•Increased fuel efficiency
However, when used incorrectly cruise control can lead to
accidents due to several factors, such as:
•hazardous weather conditions
•speeding around curves that require slowing down
