DESHAUN WATSON’S SUCCESS BEGAN IN
A HABITAT FOR HUMANITY HOUSE
Michael Wolfe, Greenville SC
INTRODUCTION
 After Michael Wolfe earned his Ph.D. in religious
history from the University of Virginia, he went
on to become a pastor and teach Comparative
World Religions at the Technical College in
Greenville, SC. A supporter of many charities,
Michael Wolfe donates to the Habitat for
Humanity.
The Heisman Trophy runner-up in 2016 and
most valuable offensive player in the 2017
college football national championship, Clemson
quarterback Deshaun Watson grew up in a
Habitat for Humanity house.
DESHAUN WATSON
 He had received a small piece of chocolate during a
Halloween party at a neighborhood church that had
attached information about Habitat housing on it. His
mother found it and applied, and before long, she
was helping build houses for others.
His family soon moved into their home, and Watson
credits the house with his success in sports and life,
since it inspired him to do great things. By age 20, he
was already a football star and received Habitat for
Humanity International's first Next Generation Award
in 2015, which included having a house built in his
honor in Greenville, SC.
