Dermabrasion is one of the best surgical options available
for scar removal. This type of treatment is an age-old
treatment that has been used for years to skim off
damaged dermis and epidermis giving way to a
          rejuvenated and healthy looking skin.
4 types of scar removal treatments
There are several types of treatments used for scar
removal. They vary in their procedure, but strive for a
            common goal - scar removal.
Laser dermabrasion: laser dermabrasion is a laser
resurfacing procedure that involves use of the argon laser,
ultrapulse carbon dioxide (CO2) laser, or flashlamp-
pumped pulsed dye laser. This laser skin resurfacing
treatment has been used as an alternative to standard
dermabrasion for treating patients with inactive acne and
                    disfiguring scarring.
Dermabrasion stretch marks: Dermabrasion is used on all
types of scars as a atrophic scars removal treatment.
These scars include all types of acne scars and stretch
marks. However, dermabrasion isn't always effective on
stretch marks because it doesn't reach deep enough into
the skin to make a difference.
Chemical peel: A chemical Peel is a process that is done
with a chemical substance that peels away the outer skin
layer. It is considered by some as one of the safest and
most effective cosmetic treatments used on the face, but
is not recommended for patients with darker skin tones.
Microdermabrasion: Microdermabrasion treatment is one
of the least invasive and most affordable dermatological
procedures available. It is used to remove the uppermost
layer of dead skin cells and can be found in the form of a
home microdermabrasion treatment, making it a very
convenient scar treatment for most people.
Dermabrasion vs microdermabrasion - the difference
Dermabrasion is a surgical procedure that reaches down
into the dermis of the skin and may result in some
bleeding. It is used to manage superficial scars and
contour irregularities and should be performed by a
                         physician.
Microdermabrasion is a skin care treatment that exfoliates
the skin in by "sand blasting" the uppermost skin layer. It
is not as aggressive as dermabrasion and should not
produce bleeding. Because it is a less aggressive technique
it is usually performed by an aesthetician and not
                   necessarily by a physician.
Dermabrasion - What to consider
Before you decide to undergo a dermabrasion treatment
you should take into consideration the following points:
* Your age and your medical history
*The expectations you have for each skin care treatment
*The treatment is appropriate for your skin? Some skin
types should not undergo certain types of treatments.
*Type of medication. Some drugs will cause adverse
effects if used during some skin care treatments.
*Any possible side effects that can appear after treatment
                      has concluded.
