Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection that causes flu-like symptoms including fever, headache, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash. It is transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, primarily Aedes aegypti. There are no vaccines to prevent dengue or medicines to treat it, but early detection and access to proper medical care lowers mortality rates.
