Hi Guys,
The silly season is upon us, and
so are the crazy drivers. So be
careful on the road and remember
some people go a little crazy over
this period of time (give them a bit
more space). Remember were
representing the brand (all Jimbo's
livelihoods).
I'm looking forward to the
Christmas get together, and
having a beer with some great
guys. Remember if you are going
to drink, you should have a driver.
If you are happy to be a driver
let me know, and we will get a
car pool going.
On the next page is an excerpt of
a conversation I had with a
franchisee. Some comments….

Organising your Christmas work
Don’t forget to let your clients know what days you are working over the
Christmas/New Year period. It’s a good idea to leave them a note of what
jobs they may require prior to Christmas and encourage them to book your
services early so you are able to fit them in.
A Christmas card with your working days and a mobile number is
also a good idea. Many clients decide to have a last minute
Christmas/New Year function that requires a few extras services,
and if you are available, they are very appreciative of your
service, and you can charge accordingly.
Example
Option 1
If you need anything done before Christmas let me know because I’m
looking quite busy.
Option 2 …. Written …..
On your next Invoice/Christmas Card attach a list of festive orientated
jobs your clients may require,
Also a good time to mention that they can purchase Jim’s Mowing vouchers
of various amounts i.e $20,$50 or $100 just by phoning 131546.

Remember to promote
Jim’s Gift Vouchers.
A great Christmas gift idea.
Offer them in any amount
they wish and put a long
expiry date
(12 months or longer).
With National Vouchers that
you send into the Jimbo SA
office for redemption, we
recommend you photocopy it
first before you post it. There
have been cases where the
voucher has gone missing in
the post and was unable to be
redeemed, as we will have no
record of that voucher.
(Cont. from Pg 1) "Rockin it out"
Spent about 30 mins on the phone with a franchisee. He is doing fantastically
in his business and is very focused on the dollars and cents i.e. he can quote
the amount he’s made to different jobs (from a flyer drop which he picked up
a $2200 and a $1100 job, along with heaps more work), days (over $7,000 in
one day), employees (one regularly makes him a turnover of $900 a day).
This obsession to continually do better is a quality I see in all high earning/
highly successful Jimbos. The other essential ingredient in this is converting
this obsession into actions, having the drive to make it happen. "A dream is
just a dream.....until you take the first step towards it.”
If we were to profile this Jimbo's other qualities such as, the amount of time
they spend thinking about their business, setting goals, taking the straightest
path, separating business and personal, being frank and upfront, being
logical, focusing on the right things (you are what you think about most of the
time), it would not be hard to guess that this franchisee’s happiness with his
life and his business is transparent.
This has a positive cyclic and compounding effect on his business and
customers want to be serviced by successful people, it just reinforces their
decision to use your services.
Finally, for those of you that are interested, in the flyer drop offer, it went
something along the lines of $10 off the first cut or 15% whichever is higher.
Regards,
Shane
PS: don't forget to look at your upcoming quarterly brief (provided
in last month’s email) & Don’t forget to put the Christmas BBQ get
together in your diary.

Summer is here…
December and January are the months for...
Mulching a great way to boost plant nutrients - not only will it
help existing plants thrive, but also prevent weeds from
sprouting and reduce the soil temperature in winter.
Pruning is something that typically needs to be done once a year to encourage new growth
and ensure your trees stay in top condition.
Raise the blades on your lawnmower as longer grass means the soil is kept cooler and also
the extra shade wards off weed seeds.
Check for red spider mite & mealy bug on shade plants and roses. Use EcoNeem.
Tie down climbing roses horizontally to encourage more lateral growth and flowers. Use Velcro
pantyhose or Ezy Ties to avoid ring barking. Check under ties for pests.
Remove agapanthus flowers immediately before they fade to prevent seeding.
Liquid fertilize citrus if desired, but only feed citrus trees in active growth.
Check citrus for scale, use Eco oil. Avoid spraying when over 28c.

Changes to Zones:
When selecting a zone, the ‘provides in’ on the services screen no longer needs to be
changed to reflect the zone. However, please make sure that any zones you create include
your Territory.
Work Requirements over the Christmas Period:
Please check your work requirements and post-dated leads status over the Christmas
period. If you are not working during the Christmas period make sure you are not listed as
post-dated leads during this time. If you are accepting work then remember that even
though the Call Centre is closed on the main days, you may still receive leads via the
internet (some clients never sleep), and so leads may well come through on Christmas day,
and will therefore need to be serviced the next working day.

Tax Invoices are they compliant?
It has become apparent that some invoices that are being issued by franchisees that are not tax
department compliant invoices. Those who use and produce invoices from Jim’s Jobs are
compliant. Some of the main problems we see are those that are hand written or have made up
their own template from a word processor or excel, where there are no dates and no statement
making the document a tax invoice, no supplier details, no invoice number, no break-down of
items involved in the invoice, no GST and no statement to say GST exempt.
Under GST rulings, the following rules apply and all invoices should display the following items:

Take Care on the Roads During the Silly Season...
As we all know December on the roads can be chaotic, with drivers being pre-occupied with
shopping, children’s end of year school activities, holiday planning and just generally a more
stressful time for all. This year, December is also proving to be our busiest month, with every
Jimbo working at full capacity. We are asking you all to be a little more vigilant on the roads.
Check your vehicle/trailer for maximum visibility in all directions, including clean windows (driving
into the sun can affect vision), clean mirrors, and no excessive high loads on your trailer etc.
Don’t answer your phone until you can pull over, even hands free can be a distraction. Often it
may not be you who is distracted but the other drivers.
It may be a good idea to allow that little bit of extra distance between you and the vehicle in front
of you.
Also take care when operating hedge trimmers, chainsaws, whipper snipper etc. The humid
weather is also very tiring so take that little bit of extra time, both driving and operating potentially
dangerous equipment. Keep yourself safe.
Water wise Products — Tips to help water go further
Waterwise or Rainsaver Water Storage Crystals absorb and hold water. Dig them
into the soil at planting time so they act as a source of extra moisture.
Waterwise soil wetters help water to penetrate the soil and get straight into the
roots.
Stress Guard for plants reduces the amount of water lost through the leaves. Spray
onto vulnerable plants to cut down moisture loss, and protect from sunburn, heat and
wind.
Waterwise Peat makes an effective mulch and a natural water-storing soil additive.
