December Writing Information

December Writing Information
- 1. December 2014 Writing Assessment Dates for Assessment and Scoring Winter Benchmark Assessment will take place on December 2, 2014. • Every student in grades 9-‐12, including AP and dual credit courses, will be assessed. • All grades will have the same writing prompt. • Students will complete a timed writing in one 50-‐minute period. Students who are absent on the day of the assessment will need to complete the work upon return in one 50-‐minute session. • Grading of the assessment will be completed December 9, 10, and 11. • The six-‐point holistic rubric for the ACT writing test will be used to score the benchmark writing assessment. Initial calibration training will be scheduled during PLC time either Dec. 1st or 8th (details to follow). • Each teacher will be scheduled to participate in grading for at least one day. • Guest teachers will be provided by the Assessment office. • Each building will have a Scantron iNSIGHT 4ES scanner for grading the benchmark assessments, as well as other assessments/assignments throughout the year. • Scoring forms have been ordered. • Assessment facilitators will be Jean O’Connor (HHS), Kelley Morand (CHS) and Kelly Stoner. Spring Benchmark dates are TBD. • Grades 9, 10 & 12 will participate in the spring district writing assessment. • Grade 11 will take the ACT writing assessment. Each staff member has been scheduled for a specific day to collectively grade the high school writing assessment. Please mark these dates on your calendar. Kelley Morand, Jean O’Connor, and Kelly Stoner will facilitate the grading process. If you are unable to attend the scoring session on the day you are assigned, an alternate day will be provided upon your return.
