This was a case of
degenerative
Osteo-arthritis of
both knees in a
woman in her
sixties. She was
on the waiting list
of the NHS
(National Health
Service) in the
United Kingdom
for a knee
replacement.

She came to me
for extreme
soreness and
swelling of her
both knees and
would not allow
anybody to touch
her knees even
the touch of the
clothes was
almost
unbearable.
- 7. © Subrata
I prescribed Kali Iodatum 30 considering the
totality and also a case of degenerative osteo-
arthritis (which is Syphilo-Sycotic and Kali Iod
is also a Syphilo-Sycotic medicine).
- 8. © Subrata
Patient would
not allow knee to
be touched,
sensitive and
sore with
oedema. Kali
Iod. also covers
bone pains and
contracted
joints.

Story of a man with Lip
Ulceration: prescription based
on observation and intuition
- 14. © Subrata
This is a
magnificent case
of my grandfather
who was treating
a patient, aged
about thirty eight
years, suffering
from an
ulceration on the
lower lip which
have not healed
for three years.
- 15. © Subrata
This was in the
1940s and
therefore there
was no proper
diagnosis for
Cancer.
- 16. © Subrata
My grand-dad was treating with apparently
indicated medicines but there was no
apparent change for eight months.
- 17. © Subrata
One day this patient
visited the clinic with his
ten years old son. His
son saw a spider on the
wall and started pushing
his Dad, whispering
constantly, "Dad, Dad
there is a spider on the
wall". He kept repeating
this gesture which finally
made my grandad ask, “I
am sorry that there is a
spider on the wall, as this
is an old house we often
find them, but why is
your son repeatedly
bringing your attention to
this?”
- 18. © Subrata
The patient got
embarrassed and
replied "sorry, we
live in an old house
as well and there are
quite a few spiders in
our house too.
Whenever I smoke,
my son asks me to
touch the lighted end
of the cigarette on
the legs of the spider
and in that way the
spider runs up the
wall away from the
cigarette.
- 19. © Subrata
Unfortunately
my son enjoys
this." What a
syphilitic boy”!
My grandfather
asked one more
question after
this and made
the prescription.
What was the
question?
- 20. © Subrata
He asked, “do you continue to smoke the
same cigarette after touching the end of the
spider's leg?” The patient replied, “yes”.
- 21. © Subrata
That made my grandfather to prescribe
Latrodectus Hasselti, which is prepared from
a New South Wales Spider and covers the
type of ulceration on the patient’s lips.
“Similia Similibus Curentur”!
- 22. © Subrata
My grandfather's interpretation was, “let likes
be treated by likes”. Through smoking the
same cigarette, he was inhaling the fluid of
the burnt spider which probably caused the
ulceration (may be beginning of cancer), and
accordingly he prescribed the medicine
prepared from spider.
- 23. © Subrata
Glory goes to
Hahnemann and
his beautiful art
and science of
let “likes be
treated by the
likes!” The
patient got
better within six
months!

• New South Wales Black Spider – Long lasting

poisoning. Arrests intense pain in pyaemia. Great
oedema in neighborhood of wound; paralysis of
limbs, with great wasting of muscles. Violent,
darting, burning pains, preceding paralysis;
vertigo, tendency to fall forward; septicaemic
