I have access to a large studio area, commercial kitchen and food styling facilities. I can travel to client sites for cost and practical purposes. I collaborate well with people. Every assignment is unique. My first interest in photography developed as an apprentice naturalist, taking macro photographs of plants and animals for identification purposes. Having worked as a marine & terrestrial biologist for more than two decades my work has enabled me to travel extensively. Over time, passing through many cultures across the globe. My love of photography and my passion for food, and associated cultures, merged naturally. I focus on the detail in the world around me. My photographs are mindful of the moment. Simple photographs, nothing more. I love to travel, often visiting markets and producers to collect impressions and recipe ideas, which I then cook myself and record these individual experiences through my lenses.Working as a food photographer has allow me to express my passion for detail and relate a visual story through my cameras & lenses. My home,Abergavenny, is surrounded by some amazing produce, great food restaurants & festivals. Food is a naturally beautiful subject to shoot. My challenge is often to simplify lighting, technique & composition – where required to do so - 'visually relating a story'.
