Learning To Let God Lead You On The Right Path
The Fork In The Road… “ The Zoad In the Road” by Dr. Seuss Greek, “Zoad” “a stair step or ladder, a device used to get people somewhere. The Zoad couldn’t make up his mind which way to go. He tried to go to both places at once, But he went no place at all with a split in his pants.
Have You Been At The Fork In The Road? Have trouble making decisions? We have to make a choice. God constantly tells people to make a decision. Joshua 24:15 In Elijah’s day he went before the people to tell them the same point. 1 Kings 18:21 Make up your mind! Why? Because to decide not to decide is to decide.
God’s Guidance On Decision Making God tells us you’re at the cross roads. Decide which road you’re going to choose, because eternity hangs on the choice you make. Jer. 6:16 Jesus echoed Jeremiah’s words Mt. 7:13-14 There are 2 roads and God says YOU have a choice! One road is wide, easy to travel… The other is narrow. It leads to life But Jesus says make a choice!
God’s Guidance On Decision Making The 2 Roads : The Narrow Road: Leads to life Some try to compromise, they think God’s road is too narrow. World calls this path “narrow-minded” Many call this way too strict or too moral. The Broad Road: Leads to Destruction Called “Broad-mindedness” Tolerant of sin, accepting Thinks God will understand, will He? 2 Corinthians 6:14-18
Make A Choice! You can choose life by walking on the narrow way and please God. Or You could be broad-minded and end up going someplace you don’t want to go. But you can’t serve two masters! Mt. 6:24 By choosing NOT to decide, you will have already decided to disobey God. God says make a choice ! Joshua 24:15; Matthew 12:30
How To Make Right Choices! Jeremiah 6:16 “ Realize how important the decision is!” The problem often isn’t knowing which road is the right one, but facing the possibility that it isn’t going to be a fun trip. You’ll risk being rejected and persecuted. Lk. 6:22-23 You must “count the cost” Lk.14:28-33 God is watching and desiring to reward you if you make the right decision.
How To Make Right Choices! Jeremiah 6:16 “ Ask for the good road!” Don’t just look at them, ask for advice. Sometimes it’s hard to figure it out on your own. There’s no shame in asking for directions. Prov. 11:14; 15:22 (ASV) Where no wise guidance is, the people falleth; But in the multitude of counsellors there is safety. (BBE) Where there are no wise suggestions, purposes come to nothing; but by a number of wise guides they are made certain.
How To Make Right Choices! Jeremiah 6:16 Asking for advice is not enough, “I’ve got to make a decision!” “ Ask where the good way is and WALK in it!” It’s not enough to say I want to walk with Jesus Until you “walk the walk” you’re not going anywhere! The real “Cross road”… Mt. 16:24-25 The only path that leads to God! Jn. 14:6 If we’re willing to follow Him we will have rest. Mt. 11:28
Which Path Will You Choose? Prov. 14:12 teaches us that, “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” The narrow or broad path? Choose Jesus and life! Hear Him Mt. 17:5 Believe in Him Jn. 8:24; Repent Lk. 13:3; Confess Him Acts 8:37; Baptism into Him Rom. 6:3-6
