Economic opportunities from onshore wind in walesrenewableukcymru
This document analyzes the economic opportunities for Wales from future onshore wind development. It considers three scenarios for installed wind capacity by 2025: meeting the target of 2,000 MW, continuing historic trends, or continuing recent consenting trends. Development and construction of wind farms could contribute £38-60 million annually in GVA to Wales by 2024, supporting 1,280-2,330 jobs. Operations and maintenance could contribute £14-37 million in GVA and 470-1,260 jobs. Maximizing local sourcing could boost GVA by an additional £7.3 million and 250 jobs annually. Local communities could benefit from contracts for local firms, employment of residents, and spending by workers. Overall, on

This document summarizes a study examining the microbiome populations found in Lebanese slaughterhouse settings. Muscle and environmental samples were taken from two slaughterhouses and tested for aerobic bacteria. The most common bacteria isolated were Staphylococcus aureus and Yersinia pseudotuberculosis. Microbial counts from cattle and sheep samples were not significantly different between the two slaughterhouses, but counts from separate cattle and sheep samples were highly significantly different. This provides a baseline characterization of the microbiome in Lebanese slaughterhouses.
This document provides an overview of light microscopy and imaging. It discusses key concepts related to light and color, including how color is determined by wavelength and how white light is comprised of a combination of colors. It also explains how the color we see in objects is generally due to light absorption and reflection. Different color models are described, including HSI (hue, saturation, intensity) which is used to characterize the color green. The document aims to clarify fundamental optical and color principles for microscopy and imaging.
This study examined the microbial populations in meat and facilities from slaughterhouses in Lebanon. Higher aerobic bacterial counts were found in samples from the Beirut slaughterhouse compared to the Baalback slaughterhouse. Common potential pathogens isolated included Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Yersinia pseudotuberculosis, and food spoilage organisms. The study provides initial data on meat microbiology in Lebanon and identifies opportunities to improve food safety through surveillance testing and hazard analysis critical control point plans in slaughterhouses.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is a multifactorial disorder with many different putative influences mediating disease onset, severity, progression and diminution. Spontaneous natural IBD is classically expressed as Crohn’s Disease (CD) and Ulcerative Colitis (UC) commonly found in primates; lymphoplasmocytic enteritis, eosinophilic gastritis and colitis, and ulcerative colitis with neuronal hyperplasia in dogs; and colitis in horses. Spontaneous inflammatory bowel disease has been noted in a
number of rodent models which differ in genetic strain background, induced mutation, microbiota influences and immunopathogenic pathways. Histological lesions in Crohn’s Disease feature noncaseating granulomatous inflammation while UC lesions typically exhibit ulceration, lamina propria inflammatory infiltrates and lack of granuloma development. Intestinal inflammation caused by CD and UC is also associated with increased incidence of intestinal neoplasia. Transgenic murine models have determined underlying etiological influences and appropriate therapeutic targets in IBD. This literature review will discuss current opinion and findings in spontaneous IBD, highlight selected transgenic rodent models of IBD and discuss their respective pathogenic mechanisms. It is very important to provide accommodation of induced putative deficits in activities of daily living and to assess discomfort and pain levels in the face of significant morbidity and/or mortality in these models. Epigenetic, environmental
(microbiome, metabolome) and nutritional factors are important in IBD pathogenesis, and evaluating ways in which they influence disease expression represent potential investigative approaches with the greatest potential for new discoveries.

Can you share your opinions, ideas and other thoughts about the AUB cat colony on campus, including

22 When I first saw cats on campus, I thought it was a great idea that has many positives on
the AUB community, especially when one considers the university's location in terms of
location and culture. I believe we should keep the cat population but better manage them.
13 I think the number should be reduced. Don't know how though.
16 I'm not an expert on solutions, but I am convinced that the cat population on campus
should be significantly reduced.
18 Don't think about removing the cats to another location, or neutering more cats or setting
up an adoption system. The cats are a part of AUB and the AUB culture and AUB should
not try to get rid of them or reduce them! AUB should continue to protect them and provide
them with medical care.
20 I have had contracted many diseases because of the presence of cats on Campus.
The AUB mission is educational and their increased presence is hindering the normal
University operation. I suggest moving them to either the AREC or any Cat's shelter
21 I think the size of the cat population should be kept constant at the current size. It shouldn't
decrease but also it shouldn't increase.
23 I believe that cats on campus are well treated by the people in charge of them, but I am not
a great fan of cats and there is a huge number of cats on campus.
I also know a friend who has a phobia from cats, so I don't know if they should have their
own area like smoking are but cat area :P
26 What a poorly designed survey. Double negatives all over the place (mainly by having
negatives such as 'not' in the stem statement and the 'disagree' options). Maybe someone
who has some clue about survey design should have a hand in this kind of thing.
Some suggestions implied by items are ludicrous and make me wonder what planet the
questioners reside on.
Maybe some of the 'experts' on the cat committee should come and have a look around
4:00pm most days when my wife and I feed the cats at the wall opposite the Toll House.
Up to 35 adults, no fuss, no mess, no traces thereafter. Minor ailments are dealt with
through individualised feeds containing medication.
I don't go with anonymous responses so I add my name below and am free to be
contacted about my comments or any other related matter.

31 letting all AUB and AUBMC staff and students treat cats in a good way
32 Cats are an invaluable part of AUB life, though their numbers are increasing constantly and
some of them are not well taken care of so they look weak and unclean and in some cases
disabled. Due to their increasing number, students and faculty are bothered with them
especially during lunch time when cats smell people food and stick around for food crumbs.
It makes our lunch break uncomfortable and we don't get to enjoy the short time outdoor. I
believe cats should be well taken care of and a reduction in number would be perfect to
manage them efficiently and effectively.
34 The cats in AUB are definitely a wonderful addition to the beautiful campus.
38 The cats are obnoxious. The feeding of the cats is obnoxious--there is enough litter
already on campus without the cat food or chicken parts. A few cats would be tolerable,
but the present numbers (at least based on those visible during feeding time) are
ridiculous.
36 Let Nature handle
37 I am with controlling their number!

42 Cats are good to have on campus and dont bother me in any way
To the exception of when they eat my food at the cafeteria
If we could in some way limit their presence and acess to the different cafeterias
43 The odors and insects due to the presence of the cats on campus, especially in summer, is
pretty bad. There is not a single campus around the world that I can think of that would
allow a colony of cats to live on campus. Even squirrels, which are abundant on university
campuses in North America, are regularly controlled.
46 CampusCats colony care includes:
? feeding cats once a day
? providing a clean water source
? maintaining a clean feeding area
? monitoring members of the colony and providing ongoing medical care
? managing (i.e. trapping, vaccinating, treating, and neutering) unaltered feral newcomers
? managing stray newcomers and placing them in a foster program or adoptive home
47 I am not a cat fan...
49 There are two many cats and they need to be culled. Then health management should be
introduced for the remainder of cats. An adoption policy should be put in place to reduce
the number of cats in the post-cull colony by at least 50% This question should not be
mandatory. Participants are free to choose whether or not to answer any or all questions in
a survey.
50 The cats
52 Suggest that AUB uses social media to advertise and encourage adoption of cats. There
are so many beautiful cats and kittens in AUB, and many cat lovers outside campus in
Lebanon. If these people are informed about the potential for adoption, at cheap prices,
then a big part of the cats problem will be solved.
54 Having a cat colony on campus is a special feature of AUB. It is too bad that at many times
I have seen students showing bad behaviors towards the cats. What I would suggest is
having a group of volunteers from students, faculty or any staff who is interested to take
care of the campus cats like Increasing feeding frequencies, making sure all cats are
spayed... Coordinating with an aminal welfare organization in Lebanon would also be a
suggestion as they are doing a great job taking care and reaching out to help stray cats, in
addition to working on policy and law issues regarding animals and I believe they will be
more than welcome to coordinate with AUB in order to put specific programs that would
help the cat colony at AUB.
61 While cats are pleasant animals, their presence inside classrooms or in the Assembly Hall
during events is distracting and should not be allowed. Their numbers have reached very
high levels inside the campus. Furthermore, these cats also go inside trash bins within and
outside the campus looking for food, and it is these same cats that are petted by students
and faculty. Although cats are generally relatively well-groomed animals, "tongue cleaning"
is hardly efficient to get rid of the filth picked up from trash bins/cans.
69 Efforts to keep the cats off campus may not be feasible, but keeping cats out of
classrooms, concert halls, and other indoor areas where they make a mess seems like a
responsible use of resources.
78 AUB cats are an integral part of the campus beauty. They don't bother anyone. In addition,
cats need shelter and care. Otherwise they will be left on the roads to die. The only
appropriate measures that would help them are spaying/neutering and adoption. I can't
imagine AUB without the cats. I think a bit of animal welfare and rights awareness
campaigns are necessary for the public to view them positively (videos of what happens to
stray cats or that cats need food, love and care...). I genuinely wish that AUB continues to
provide home for cats regardless of numbers and arranges for fund raising events to
provide for their needs. I am sure there are a lot of people who would support such
initiatives. I even suggest adding a few dollars to the student fees for animal welfare.
79 Over a decade ago, cats were eating from the garbage and more of a begging nuisance.
However today, and in the past years since they have been regularly fed and taken care of,
they are exemplary in their behavior and a pleasure to have on campus; both visually and
emotionally!. Many a guest visitor have expressed their admiration of these small creatures
on campus, their beauty and even "cuteness" as well as AUB's noticeably great care of
them, especially in a country where animal welfare comes last after all the "greater"
concerns of the nation. I urge you to keep them as they are such a pleasure and so very
little of a nuisance.
81 The smell of cat food in the morning at the stairs next to tennis courts is disgusting.
82 I like the idea of having an a cat adoption program. This could create revenue to expand
cat support...etc.
86 Cats affect positively the spirit of students and staff in AUB.
They are relaxing, friendly, affectiounus, and without them the campus would become a

less welcoming campus.
87 I think there is something wrong with this survey. Based on my understanding of IRB, no
question should be made compulsory.
88 cats are just too many and they are very disruptive
94 -
108 cats are great! Make AUB life even more tolerable and all of us proud!
113 I see the cats to be beneficial, but needing management of health and number. Cat count
can and should be controlled through spay/neuter program and euthanasia to achieve and
maintain the right number.
125 I think that neutering the cats should be sufficient to control their density.
142 increased veterinary control and service is a must
149 WE DO NOT WANT CATS AROUND HERE, THEY MAKE OUR 7AYET AWFULLLLL !
PLEASE REMOVE ALL CATS IMMEDIETLY
ARE STAFF AND STUDENTS on campus are treated well by students, staff and facultY
??? THIS WOULD BE A BETTER QUESTION
Plus whats up with repeated questions??!!!
Thank you.
152 I am not a big fan of animals mainly because I have allergy towards them. and on another
encounter one cat entered my car in the underground and ruined all the seats with its nails
:(. Thus, my answers are somewhat not in favor of supporting their presence at the
Campus.
However, as long as they are well managed and cared for and as long as they are well
controlled not to be around every corner, I salute the people who are in charge and value
their efforts.
163 Cats have been part of the image and environment of AUB campus for as long as i can
remember.Humanity has developed ingenious concepts of animal rights over the last few
years and its a shame to consider any right for healthy life as insignificant because of
species,or the continuation of habitation in a HUGE campus to be considered bothersome.
If any concerns are arising by prodding critics, those concerns have more than enough
professional people and funds to address them without risking either human or cat
population. Bring me a person as cute as a furry little kitten and then you may send me this
survey again to see if i have changed my mind about my answers :)
168 Cats should not be present on campus, as they annoy many students, faculty and staff,
especially with their large number at AUB
