Haiti was struck by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake on January 12th, 2010 near the capital city of Port-au-Prince. The earthquake caused widespread damage, reducing much of the city to rubble and killing over 200,000 people. Relief efforts have been hampered by damaged infrastructure, but international aid is arriving to help the millions of Haitians left homeless and without basic resources in the aftermath of the disaster.
