Considering only the two major American publishers of comics, DC Comics and Marvel Comics, we hold an inventory of the characters in some way inspired in the subphylum Crustacea. They had their features compared with the morphology of real animals, and were classified according to the publisher, the social role (hero or villain), the taxonomic classification of inspiring crustacean, the presence / absence of features associated with crustaceans (such as the presence of a rigid exoskeleton, often reinforced by calcium carbonate, chelate appendages and antennae) and the decade of creation. A total of 80 characters from Marvel and 57 from DC were recorded, most with name and / or some other type of active participation in the plots. The secondary characters, such as monsters (speechless creatures, usually fighting heroes), nations (people with no highlights), real animals and objects (vehicles, weapons, amulets, etc.) were also considered. Most of the characters were recently created, since the 1980s. Regarding the taxonomic classification, the majority was based on the order Decapoda, being the most inspired in crabs (Brachyura). Probably due to the peculiar morphology of crustaceans, mainly characters play the role of villain. Research on this topic has the potential to expand the vision of how the objects of study can be observed and analyzed in classrooms, creating new questions and discussions, encouraging a much greater academic interest of students

A hermit crab is a crustacean that borrows shells from other animals to protect its soft exoskeleton. Unlike true crabs, a hermit crab's shell is not permanently attached to its body. Hermit crabs live on land and in water, using their front legs for walking and finding food while their back legs help hold them inside their shell. They come in a variety of sizes, with coconut crabs growing quite large, and will change shells as they grow.
Two hydrothermal vent fields have been described at the ultra-slow spreading ridge of the Mid-Cayman Rise (MRC), including the world’s deepest (Piccard ~4985m) and the nearby Von Damm vent field (~2300m). Both vent fields support a localized high-biomass. The food web has chemoautotrophic bacteria at the base and includes bacterivorous shrimp as well as carnivores: shrimp and anemones.
The alvinocaridid shrimp Rimicaris hybisae is abundant at both vent fields and shows spatial variability in population structure. So far it has been considered bacterivorous. Large variations in tissue δ13C values remained largely unexplained, and it has been argued that δ13C values are not a good food web tracer in hydrothermal vent ecosystems.
We observed that shrimp tended to be either in dense aggregations on active chimneys, or more sparsely distributed and peripheral in (near) ambient temperatures. With the hypotheses that varying δ13C values show real differences in food sources and that shrimp in different locales might have different diets, we collected shrimp from both environments at the Von Damm site during an Ocean Exploration Trust Expedition with E/V Nautilus (NA034, 08/2013) and examined their gut contents.
Gut contents of all shrimp from dense aggregations consisted of white, amorphous material that resembled bacteria. Sparsely distributed shrimp (~1m from dense aggregations) had guts filled with fragments of crustacean exoskeleton, a mixture of bacteria-like material and crustacean exoskeleton, or bacteria-like material only.
We analyzed stable isotope compositions of the shrimp and their gut contents. Shrimp δ13C, δ15N and δ34S values reflect those of their gut contents +1 trophic level. Sparse shrimp have dramatically lower δ13C and δ34S values, and slightly elevated δ15N values, in comparison to dense shrimp. Sparse and dense R. hybisae clearly have different diets. Ongoing work is determining what exactly is this crustacean food source, whether diet changes occur during life history, and if this is linked to the molting cycle.
Aquaculture biology and ecology of cultured speciesأسعد لحمر
This document provides an introduction to aquaculture. It defines aquaculture as the art of increasing and rearing aquatic animals and plants under controlled or semi-controlled conditions. The main objective of aquaculture is the production of living matter from aquatic environments. It involves manipulating natural or artificial aquatic environments to produce species useful to humans. Aquaculture includes the culture of both aquatic plants and animals, as well as activities associated with preparing and marketing aquatic species. The four main areas of aquaculture production are algae, molluscs, crustaceans, and fish.

This document provides taxonomic accounts for several arthropods including the Atlantic blue crab, giant tiger prawn, sand crab, freshwater prawn, and mud crab. For each species, it lists their scientific classification from kingdom to genus or species. Brief descriptions are given for the sand crab as a common shore crab, and the freshwater prawn is characterized by an enlarged second pair of legs in males. The mud crab is identified as Scylla serrata.
This document summarizes a study that identified genes involved in the biosynthesis and degradation pathways of juvenile hormones and ecdysteroids in the cherry shrimp Neocaridina denticulata. The study found genes encoding enzymes in the pathways, including JHAMT for juvenile hormone biosynthesis and Halloween genes like phantom and disembodied for ecdysteroid production. It also identified regulatory genes like allatostatins. Expression analysis found that JHAMT is expressed throughout development. This information improves understanding of hormonal systems in crustaceans and their evolution in pancrustaceans.

The document describes different kingdoms, phyla, classes and types of organisms, including plant-like protists, animal-like protists, fungi-like protists, plants, porifera, cnidaria, platyhelminthes, nematoda, mollusca, annelida, arthropoda, echindermata, chordata, viruses and more. It provides information on photosynthetic and non-photosynthetic organisms, their characteristics, life cycles and examples.
This document summarizes research on hydrothermal vent ecosystems and the shrimp species Rimicaris hybisae. Stable isotope analyses found that dense and sparse populations of R. hybisae rely on different food sources. Dense shrimp mainly eat chemoautotrophic bacteria hosted on their gills, while sparse shrimp supplement their diet with scavenging of other crustaceans and grazing of microbes. Fatty acid signatures also indicate that the shrimp derive most of their carbon from chemoautotrophic bacteria, with a minor contribution from photosynthetic sources during their pelagic larval stage. This research improves understanding of carbon cycling and food webs in vent ecosystems.
Defence mechanism in finfish and shellfish jassi 2Jaspreet Singh
Farming of fish and shellfish has gained significant grounds in several parts of the world .
Now a days disease is main problem in aquafarming.
In recent years ,lot of attention is being given to health management using various forms of immunoprophylactic techniques such as vaccination and immunostimulation .
To reduce immunoprophylactic application ,it is vital to have insight into specific and non specific defense mechanism of farmed animal .
Through disease process studies ,it is very well known that a pathogen can cause disease only if it can overcome the non specific and specific defense barriers of the host and successfully establish and proliferate

This document describes the female genital structures of Gypona reversa, a leafhopper species. It is the first report of the female genitalia for this species. Specimens were examined from Viçosa, Brazil. The ovipositor, sternite VII, and valvulae I-III are described and illustrated. Key distinguishing characteristics include the lateral undulation of the ovipositor and valvulae II, as well as the sculpturing of valvulae I-III. This work provides important taxonomic details on the female of G. reversa that were previously unknown.
Da Silva et al 2014 - Marvel and DC characters inspired by arachnidsElidiomar R Da-Silva
This article compares arachnid-based Marvel and DC comics characters. The composition of a comic book character often has interesting ‘real-life’ inflences. Given the strong connection between arachnids (especially spiders, scorpions and mites, all belonging to the zoological class Arachnida) and human beings it is not surprising that they have inspired many fitional characters. We recorded 84 Marvel Comics characters and 40 DC Comics characters, detailed in the dataset that accompanies the article. Most characters have been created recently, since the 1990s. Marvel has signifiantly more arachnid characters than DC. As for taxonomic classifiation, the characters were based mostly on spiders (zoological order Araneae). Of the total characters, the majority are human beings, but an overwhelming number have at least some typical arachnid features. Villains (60.91% of total) are signifiantly more numerous, considering the sum of the two publishers. Arachnids have bad reputation for being dangerous. Since the public
usually considers spiders, scorpions and mites “harmful” in general, we expected a larger contingent of villains. However, there was no statistical diffrence between the amount of villains and heroes in Marvel characters. It did not happen probably due to the success of one character: the Amazing Spider-Man.

from Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil. Beamerana boomerang sp. nov. differs from its
congeners by the fore wing venation and the male genitalia. A key to the species of
Beamerana is provided. The genus is recorded for Brazil for the first time.
Da silva et al 2014 - marvel and dc characters inspired by insectsElidiomar R Da-Silva
The composition of a comic book character often has interesting real-life influences. Given the strong connection between insects and human beings, it is not surprising that they have inspired many fictional characters. We conduct an inventory of the characters that somehow have been inspired by insects, considering only the two major American comic publishers, DC Comics and Marvel Comics. Such characters have had their features compared with the morphology, biology and behavior of living insects from the real world. The overall of 232 characters were obtained, 119 of DC and 113 of Marvel. There is no significant statistical difference between the two publishing houses in relation to number of characters. Despite insects have bad reputation for being injurious, there was no statistical difference between the amount of villains and heroes, considering the total number of characters of both publishing houses. The significant majority of groups of insects which served as inspiration for the characters belong to orders framed in Holometabola group.
A ZOOLOGIA DE “SETE SOLDADOS DA VITÓRIA”: ANÁLISE DOS ANIMAIS PRESENTES NA OB...Elidiomar R Da-Silva
estimação e elementos do cenário.
