Small and medium-sized businesses lose approximately $155,000 each year on average due to fraud. While 77% of these businesses believe they are safe from cyber threats like hackers and viruses, 83% take no formal measures against such threats despite almost half of all cyber attacks targeting small and medium businesses. The World Economic Forum predicts a 10% chance of a major infrastructure breakdown in the near future that could cause $250 billion in damages to the global economy. By 2013, cybercrime resulted in over $110 billion in economic losses worldwide, affecting over 550 million adults - equivalent to the entire GDP of a country like Morocco, Slovakia or Bangladesh.
