Xin CHEN (+44)7795198897 xin.chen13@imperial.ac.uk Education: Imperial College London (2013-­‐2014) MSc Environmental Technology-­‐Water Management ● Content: Environment and Health, Integrated Land and Water Management, Water Technology and Pollu=on, Environmental Policy and Resource Management, Environmental Pollu=on and Control, Ecology in Context, Quan=ta=ve Skills and Uncertainty, Environmental Law. ● Anglian Water Project (Dis=nc=on) -­‐ Worked in a group of five people to evaluated the water management needs for drinking water, sewage treatment and water security within a hypothe=cal Anglian Water catchment; assessed management strategies and techniques for applicability to the catchment; implemented a report with management techniques in consultancy-­‐style; carried out a presenta=on based on report in a dynamic, coopera=ve and compe==ve environment to Anglian Water shareholders and department experts. ● Hounslow Heath Project (Merit) -­‐ Worked in a group of eighteen people with different backgrounds to determine the nature and distribu=on of heavy metal contamina=on in Hounslow Heath by inves=ga=ng a fieldwork in collec=on soil samples and laboratory work in preparing the samples for analysis; evaluated the status of the land contamina=on, assessed the extent of possible soil degrada=on inves=ga=ng links with soil biodiversity, discussed findings with team members and kept the group work on track to achieve outcomes; and made recommenda=ons for London Borough of Hounslow as to the most suitable site for loca=ng a hypothe=cal primary school within Hounslow Heath; produced an individual environmental assessment to clients. ● Thesis (Dis=nc=on): Different frameworks for Trans-­‐boundary water resource conflict resolu=ons. Analysed the reason why water resource conflicts occur, iden=fied the essen=al elements of conflict resolu=on and created a database of various conflict resolu=on frameworks by combina=on and comparison of real-­‐world and theore=cal cases in an innova=ve way. Sheffield Hallam University (2009 -­‐ 2011) BSc Environmental Management ● The Environmental Management degree improved my understanding and knowledge needed to manage environmental issues in industry, government and research consultancy at na=onal and interna=onal level. ● Veolia Environmental Services (UK) Project -­‐ Worked on a group project; delivered the impact that humans made on the environment and how waste management business can reduce nega=ve impacts; aXained a company profile report of Veolia recycling and waste management to client. ● Tideswell Dale Project -­‐ Par=cipated on field work and produced a report to survey the role of the environment in supplying the needs of human development and wildlife. ● Environmental Assessment of opera=on an Energy Recovery Facility -­‐ Organised a presenta=on based on a group worked report, sorted out every team members’ strengths to ensure good results; enabled latest environmental techniques; classified a detailed awareness of present and future environmental concerns of opera=on an ERF.
