Rabbi Fazle Rabbi has over 15 years of experience as a project engineer for the California Department of Transportation. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Louisiana State University, with a focus on geoenvironmental engineering and microbiology. His past research includes using electrokinetics to enhance in-situ bioremediation of contaminated soils through injection of nutrients and microbes. He has over 10 publications in peer-reviewed journals on this topic.

transportation engineering work with different functional areas such as Project and
Planning Management, Project Development and Design, Environment, Hydraulics,
Geotechnical, Electrical, Traffic, Survey, Structural Engineering, construction, Manages
personnel engaged and is responsible for operations. Interprets, organizes, plans,
schedules, executes and coordinates major technical engineering assignments; manages
construction and maintenance activities, performs engineering design work, calculates
costs and conducts various studies for an area office. Manages professional, technical,
clerical employees and supervisors. Reports to the Branch Chief.
During the initiation of project to the completion of project, I was always closely involved
with the Project Manager to recommend him/she technical aspects of the project within the
scope, which should be buildable and economically feasible with reasonable time frame.
Help the Project Manager to estimate work resources, Capital and Support cost to
program the projects, Schedule and risk management documents and prepared presentation
of public meetings for critically environmental sensitive projects.
I finished projects from small scale (project cost from $20,000) like maintenance project to
replace some damaged concrete blocks of sidewalk. The biggest project construction cost
estimate was $850 million, which was a State Improvement Transportation Plan (STIP)
projec. I was involved more than twenty-six different types of large projects which I have
been done in CalTrans.

PS: I wish that I would include Dr. Yalcin B. Acar in the reference lists, who died in a car accident on May
9, 1996. I had been actively involved in Geoenvironmental research with last four years of his life. I had an
opportunity to meet with him as an advisor/supervisor, mentor and above all as a friend. He was one of the
leading researchers in Geoenvironment, especially in Electrokinetics soil remediation. He is a continuous
source of my professional inspiration. Some of my works are dedicated to his name
