Waqar Hussain holds a Master's degree in Economics and currently works as Deputy Secretary of Internal Security for the Home Department of the Government of Punjab. He has experience working on security issues and gender reform initiatives. Hussain has received foreign training in Italy and Germany and leads Pakistan's Gender Reform Action Program. His interests include reading, music, movies, and writing articles on current issues.

Responsibilities Include to assist the Program Management Unit (PMU)/ Home
departments in planning, formulating, implementing, monitoring and evaluating project
interventions pertaining to gender issues, assure appropriate targeting of women from
among the target groups and ensure that they benefit from the project activities. in this
capacity efforts were made to highlight issues pertaining to gender discrimination, women
empowerment etc. No. of workshops conducted / organized to create awareness among the
masses, various Instructions have been issued for facilitating female employees and ensuring

2. their safety, security and redressal of their genuine grievances. Lectures were also
given on various gender issues and attended several workshops.
