Dr. Karatzias was born and raised in Engomi – Nicosia and after completing his two-year military
obligation as a cadet officer in Special Forces he continued his undergraduate education by attaining
the Medical Degree in Alexandroupolis – Greece (University of Thrace). His postgraduate
education started with the training program for specialty in Nicosia for becoming a Plastic Surgeon
and was also enhanced by a Master of Science in Wound Healing and Tissue Repair (University of
Cardiff). While being in training he attained license to practice with full registration to Cyprus,
Greece, Croatia and the United Kingdom. Training included visiting well-known centres of
excellence, such as the National Spinal Injury Centre in Stoke Mandeville Hospital in UK, for
working amongst the most experienced surgeons for dealing with pressure ulcers and University
Hospital Dubrava in Zagreb for breast reconstruction after mastectomy. In addition, he became
member of the most known organisations dealing with Plastic Surgery such as aesthetics, burns,
wounds, traumas and diabetic ulcers and became fellow of the European Board of Plastic
Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. He is serving as the current representative of Cyprus in
International Working Group on Diabetic foot and follows all the national and international
congresses – seminars of his field.

Practicing as a Plastic Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeon mainly in Nicosia working in
collaboration with prestigious private clinics and doctors / surgeons of other specialties for
achieving a multidisciplinary approach in the reconstructive cases and a successful / safe
aesthetic enhancement in cosmetic cases.
Director / Partner of Mobile Wound Healing Unit, a home care company dedicated to
dealing with chronic wounds and traumas for people unable or unwilling to be transferred
from their home, hospital or nursing home.
