Democratic Progress Institute: April 2015- June 2015
Research Intern
Worked for the Democratic Progress Institute as a research intern for three
months. Within my time at DPI I provided a variety of services for the company
including transcription, administrative and reception tasks as well as research. My
report, titled ‘Philippines Peace Process- an update from 2012-2015’, was
published by DPI and is available on their website in both English and Turkish.
Also enhanced my writing skills to explain complex situations to a wider audience.

A member of the floor team responsible for organizing and checking stock,
maintaining a safe work environment and handling customer queries.
Robin Hill Country Park: Summer 2010, 2011 & 2012

Prepared foods and deserts for customers, organized and checked stocks and
attended to customer’s needs. Whilst working at Robin Hill, I was given decision

Office Assistant- organized deliveries, recorded financial processes within
the business, drafted reports and assisted in the marketing of the
business. Became exceedingly competent in the use of Microsoft Word
and Excel. Gained a great insight into the management and financial
practices of a business.
General Assistant for Quirky Cakes Café at Bestival Music Festival (2009,
2010, 2011)- worked at the bestival music festival on the Isle of Wight, had
a creative input into the design of the café, advertising and marketing
strategies to help achieve sales.
Kitchen Assistant- organized and managed stock, worked with industrial
machinery and aided in the design and labelling of the products.

INTERESTS Sporting Interests:
Played football since a young age and this has continued into adulthood.
Undertook a leadership role while playing football at university both on and
off the pitch, this included helping less experienced players reach their
potential and organizing social events for the club as well as games with
other teams.
Developed a love for ice hockey and its indoor variant, inline hockey,
during university. Currently playing for my university and a team outside of
university. I have represented both the University of Kent and University of
London at national competitions, reaching the 2015 national finals with the
University of London. Whilst playing for Kent, I helped organize transport
and hotels to ensure that we could participate in this competition.
Academic Interests:
Regular reader of the Economist and Foreign Policy magazine, I am
deeply interested in international events around the world, particularly
within politics and economics of Africa and the Middle East.
Was approached by the editor of the University of Kent’s newspaper
InQuire, to write pieces and commentaries for the paper and the online
edition on a range of issues during university, which included events in the
Falkland’s and the Syrian Conflict.
