Currently studying with Paulo Freire International Institute, and Blackpool and Fylde college. Courses studied Three A levels, one OND one HND one BA Hons. One City & Guilds. Level 2 nursery practitioner. Prejudice Reduction Training with NCBI. Personal Development Gold Award 2015, Ongoing L4 Foundation with Freire.org and L3 Social Care with B&Fc. Work Experience Apprentice joiner, undertaker, building sites and caravan manufacturing, drummer in bands and groups and samba school, self employed joiner, labourer, factory worker, fork lift truck driver, house husband, student, designer, technician, painter and decorator, freelance painter, volunteer, musician, junk percussionist, year of the artist artist project number 133, installation technician, teacher, dad, cartoonist, dreamer. Hobbies This list would have been fairly long at one time but now it only includes walking, reading, thinking, visiting favourite places, listening to music, playing drums and percussion, drawing and hoping.
- 2. What is this about? I have found that you can encourage things to happen but you cannot make things happen. If you are a bit driven or a bit obsessive you will find that life is better if you can stay reasonably busy. I volunteer some of my time to local youth and children clubs. I have had cartoons published I have had writing published I have recorded with bands I have broadcasted on community radio. I am a featured artist in a publication called No Need for Words where my method of working in a specialist setting is the subject of a chapter by music professionals. This makes me a true practitioner and I am proud of that. It is tremendously hard work trying to earn a crust in the creative industries it always has been. We are living in a time when proper jobs are hard to find at the same time we are realising that people need to feel like they have a function in this life. Older people have the wealth of experience. It seems odd that they find it so difficult to get decent paid work. I can fill side after side of A4 with lists of things that I have done well, it is one of life’s great puzzles to me. If I seem like I am complaining about my situation, I apologise. There are tons of people like me who are capable and have great skills, that are on the verge of being thrown away or given up on. That is what it feels like for people like myself, out here in professional cold simply because nobody has got their brain round a job description for what used to be insultingly called “jack of all trades and master of none”. Mr or Mrs or Ms, adaptable, useful, nice person. At the young end of what we call “Adulthood” (a terrible misnomer as there are many infants who know about being more grown up than adults) eighteen years old. You are straight out of school dodging about from scheme to scheme or you have to go into massive debt to continue with your learning. What a waste of the energy and potential of most of the young people in the entire country but then on the positive side what a brilliant way to begin to prepare people to be dumped and wasted in later life. Perhaps I need to stop here before this does turn into a rant. J What follows is a list of stuff that looks like experience but in fact it is just part of my lifetime of experience. I have forgotten and blanked a lot of things in ordre to survive. If you have made it to this point you will know what I mean.
