PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Professional Cross Country Mountain Biker, Brendon Davids presents an extraordinary portfolio of career achievements,
and is gaining extensive exposure at national and international level. He stands poised to participate at the highest level
as XCO cyclist, having been named on the South African Olympic Games short list for the Rio Olympics, 2016. This
nomination stems from a demonstrated track record of success, not only in 2015 (African Continental U23 XCO
Champion), but throughout his sporting career.
Most recently (2015), Brendon joined with South Africa’s first UCI Registered XCO team, Kargo Pro. In that final year
as an U23 he raced in the ABSA Cape Epic along with Emil Lindgren, and, additionally, raced in the world cup series
for the first time. Already a familiar and admired figure in the cycling arena, Brendon now enters competition in his first
year as an Elite rider.
This determined, dynamically motivated sportsman has been involved in mountain biking since 2005, and continues to
drive for excellence. He has attracted, and continues to attract valued sponsorship, as his career gains momentum.
Notably, Brendon travelled to the USA in 2011 to further advance his career and to gain international experience.
Recognizing his talent, the Pro Team Sho-Air offered Brendon a position on the team for 2012. He joined the team
following participation in the 2011 World Championships in Switzerland.
In 2013 Brendon rejoined Team Jeep South Africa, with the backing of Specialized Bicycles and a number of personal
sponsors (Oakley, Gu Energy, cSixx, Cutting Edge Marketing and Wheelbuilder.com). As a rookie on the European
World Cup circuit, Brendon successfully capped off the season with a Top 20 at the World XCO Championships.
In tandem with James Reid (current South African marathon Champion), and with the backing of the renowned Trek
Racing SA squad, Brandon embarked on a campaign to set an example to younger riders: that it is possible to race
clean, and race fast. This introduced a fresh and interesting outlook to racing, on national and international platforms,
and an outlook that promises much to those sponsors that value integrity, courage and dedicated energy.
