The document discusses plans to improve the Moodle Assignments module. It describes how a consortium of universities defined improvements needed, and how NetSpot proposed rewriting the module to address these needs. NetSpot developed foundational changes and enhancements, contributed the code to Moodle's core codebase, and the new Assignments module is scheduled for release in Moodle 2.3. The changes aim to make assignments easier to set up and more consistent, improve the module's code, and enable web services calls.
The sisterhood of the traveling endometrial tissue | Stanford Med XAbby Norman
This document discusses endometriosis, a condition where endometrial tissue grows outside the uterus, such as on the ovaries or fallopian tubes. It notes that approximately 1 in 10 women have endometrial lesions associated with endometriosis but may not experience symptoms. It states that the average time to diagnosis for women experiencing symptoms is 10 years. There is currently no cure for endometriosis and treatments do not work for all women as the disease is chronic and progressive.
Obstacles to maternity service use in Afghanistan: what do we know about cost...IDS
This presentation was given by Sundaram, Steinhardt, Peters and Rahman to the International Health Economics Association Conference 2009 in Beijing. It is research conducted as part of the Future Health Systems Research Programme Consortium www.futurehealthsystems.org.
The document provides details from a site survey of the Deepwater Champion drilling rig conducted on September 11, 2015. It includes information about the rig such as its owner, water depth rating, drilling equipment capabilities. Diagrams and notes describe the rig layout and specifications like the location of the derrick, pipe deck, V-doors, crane capacities, and rig floor dimensions.
The document describes an early warning system established in Greater Darfur Region to ensure timely detection and response to disease outbreaks among internally displaced populations. The system monitors 12 health events on a weekly basis using standardized case definitions and reporting forms. Data is collected from health facilities and mobile clinics, aggregated at the state level, and analyzed to monitor trends, detect clusters or increases in cases, and help allocate resources. Thresholds for diseases like measles, AFP, and meningitis trigger immediate investigation and public health response if cases are detected.

Party Idea Prodigy-Warrior's Dance
The video aims to create a chaotic, hedonistic party scene using props like face paint, masks, and glow sticks. Inspired by club culture popular with their target audience of late teens and early twenties, the video will use experimental shots and quick editing to capture the vibe of a club. While there is no narrative, cuts will focus on one character experiencing the party scene.
Fugro Synergy is a new drillship designed for cost-effective drilling and well operations in shallow waters. It was delivered in 2009 and began operating in the North Sea. The vessel can perform various drilling operations such as tophole drilling and well abandonment services to help de-risk well sites. It is optimized for geotechnical research and shallow hydrocarbon drilling. The vessel combines drilling capabilities with oilfield maintenance and subsea services to provide a flexible solution for customers' needs.
The document discusses several studies related to developmental psychology and attachments:
- Ainsworth & Bell (1971) studied individual differences in infant attachments through observations of their reactions in various situations. They identified secure and insecure attachment types.
- Van Ijzedoorn & Kroonenberg (1988) conducted a meta-analysis finding variations in attachment types across cultures but greater variation within cultures.
- Hodges & Tizard (1989) investigated the effects of privation by comparing children who had been in care to a control group, finding some effects were reversible through adoption.
This document discusses experimental and quasi-experimental designs. It outlines the key components of classical experimental designs, including independent and dependent variables, experimental and control groups, pretesting and posttesting. It also discusses threats to internal and external validity and variations like quasi-experimental designs that use nonequivalent groups or time series when randomization is not possible. Quasi-experiments aim to make groups as comparable as possible through matching or using natural cohorts.
Quasi-experimental design is used when participants cannot be randomly assigned to control and experimental groups. It involves pre-tests and post-tests of experimental and control groups. There are three main variations: non-equivalent control group design with a treatment and control group given pre-tests and post-tests; single-group interrupted time-series design where one group is measured before and after a treatment with no control; and control-group interrupted time-series design where two non-random groups are measured over time with one receiving a treatment.
