8. FIRST DATA ON COVID-19
Teenagers have missed out on big milestones during the pandemic. A new survey released this week gives a
preliminary glimpse at the toll these changes have taken on teenagers’ mental health – and it raises an alarm. In
addition to the countless school shootings that have already taken place recently…
Roughly 1500 teenagers participated – 7 out of 10 stated they were struggling with their mental health in some way.
More than half said they experienced anxiety.
45% said they had felt excess stress.
43% identified that they had struggled with depression.
COVID-19 has had an incredible impact on teens’ mental health.
9. FIRST DATA ON COVID-19
If there is still any doubt, there is another poll to explore…
61% of teens said that the COVID-19 pandemic increased their feelings of
loneliness.
However, the pandemic does not address mental distress that lingers in children
during the early stages of life.
Furthermore, roughly 80% of teens said that mental health concerns is a major
issue they face.
They also stated it can be uncomfortable to ask for help although it is clear they
crave this communication.
The need for development and attention outside of the classroom is clear. Let’s
save lives.First Data on COVID-19 and Teens’ Mental Health Is Here – And It’s Not Good via HuffPost, Catherine Pearson
10. WHY DO YOUR PART NOW?
• Do Your Part Now is in a unique position to address the concerns that these children
continue to struggle with. Depression, isolation, miseducation, desperation does not
disappear. It carries on well into adulthood if not given the proper attention. There are
relationships that need to be established with our youth while arming them with the coping
strategies and knowledge that they need to excel.
• Founder, Chantal Angelique has first-hand experiences with these stressors. At a young age
she was challenged with feelings of low self worth, depression and anxiety. These challenges
developed into missed opportunities in later years. It wasn’t until the age of 26 that she
began to heal which is entirely too long. Chantal is currently an education student at Saint
Leo University equipped with the knowledge to reach younger people as she learns the root
cause of these ailments, how they manifest themselves into mistaken behaviors and how we
rectify them.
11. WHY DO YOUR PART NOW?
• Do Your Part Now provides youth mentorship amid our troubled climate. Change is not a
sprint; it is a marathon. Young people are the key to the change we so desperately seek, and
it goes beyond mental health concerns.
• Our company is dedicated to creating these changes, one school at a time. There is much
work to be done so we must act now.
